I know I'm not alone in hating this time of year - another "dead zone" between the end of OTAs and the start of training camp. It seems amplified this year, though, because I have higher hopes for this year's Giants than I've had for the past few years.
A new Head Coach who seems to have brought a new, positive attitude with him, along with some interesting new position coaches. An unprecedented spending spree in free agency that avoided the usual over-the-hill or oft-injured UFAs, and instead bolstered a historically bad defense with an infusion of youth and skill. The return of JPP (so far, so good). A draft class that looks very promising. There are plenty of reasons to be pumped up in 2016.
But Tom Petty had it right when he declared that, "The waiting is the hardest part."
Heavy sigh.
For one: Eat Creme Brulee!
I understand what you are saying, Klaatu.....when there isn't much hope, like the previous three seasons, you look forward to the start of football, but you can wait, because it's tempered by the reality of what the season will be....
This year, there is reason for hope....new coach, free agents signed, seemingly good draft.....it's like the few days before Christmas, when you were a kid, and looked everywhere in the house for those presents, and couldn't find them.....and then you counted down the days, until it finally happened......sometimes you got that gift you wanted, and sometimes you got underwear....
Enjoy the Summer!
Make plans in advance for the next 4 weekends so you have something to look forward to in little check points and before you know it, camp is here.
Doomie -- I use one of these -- $14 at any hardware store

nah -- piece of cake if you set it up right
With football right around the corner, baseball races heating up, and all the summer fun, it s one of my favorite times of year.
Those little propane torches are a big waste of money. Use the one from the depot.
This is why RAZE has developed the tater tot ritual during training camp - so you wouldn't be bored - and so none of us would have to listen to you being bored

My mother's rice pudding beats creme brulee' any day and twice on Sundays.
there is only one way to verify this....I am waiting....possibly, drooling at the same time....
Let's get it over with and get back to football. For the first time in years, no school!
Well that's interesting considering every single restaurant I've worked at uses the torch gidie highlighted. As long as you don't brulee by the drapes, it's perfectly safe.
Best day of the year.
