Very intriguing guy who recently switched to pitching and is already hitting mid-90's.
Official, Lugo up, Gilmartin down.
I thought the tweet I pasted was from a Mets blogger who had a credible source. Didn't think he was posting self-scouted report. Sorry!
Quote:
grew up a Mets fan and was a decent catching prospect who moved to P. Drafted by the Reds, never signed and that's how the Mets got him. He claims he throws mid-90's but I've never seen that confirmed by anyone else (not calling him a liar, just grain of salt with self-scouting reports).

PJ,
No need to apologize. I see a lot of people citing his velocity as if it's from eyewitnesses or scouts. He may well throw 94-97 (per his claim) but I personally choose to ignore velocity reports when they come from the player themselves, as well as ignoring some hyperbole from managers (specifically Gamboa and Wally) as they have proven to be unreliable. I have no idea what Zanghi is throwing. I couldn't find a single report on velocity when we signed him. This was as close as I got
"Sophomore Joe Zanghi, a transfer from the University of Connecticut, just came off an impressive season with the Dukes recording an ERA of 1.70 and 81 strikeouts in 63 and 1/3 innings. Zanghi finished the season with a streak of 21 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run, striking out 26 batters over that span. Zanghi was named a unanimous First-Team All-Region 19 selection.
Gorman on Zanghi: "Joe made major strides as a baseball player and as a person in his one year at Cumberland. I think he is an extremely talented young man who has a bright future in front of him. Joe has as plus pitch that can get big league hitters out right now. Joe worked hard through an injury early and became a respected captain of our team in the process.""
he's a reliever with BKN or a starter?

He's pitching out of the pen so far. I think Dunn will make his season debut tomorrow.
#Mets are playing with a three-man bench then. Terry Collins has told deGrom and Syndergaard that they may be used in non-pitching roles.
Mets are now playing with a two-man bench, three if you decided to include De Aza.
