sources: matz was leaning toward surgery until meeting with mets brass. (credit him for toughness)
shouldn't be pushing him either way IMO, it should be strictly a medical decision, Mets doctors and his own doctors should give their diagnoses and then he should decide what's best for him.
sounds like from the way that's worded the Mets FO influenced him a specific way.
It sounds to me like the Mets are basically saying "man up.. we need you to pitch"
Which I don't really think is fair. If it's really bugging him and he doesn't feel right pitching through it he should just have the surgery. It's his arm.

He has his money and career longevity to look out for. And the Mets have a great history with making the right injury decisions....
Eh, if he's unnecessarily getting surgery or if it is something that can wait until the offseason, he'd be hurting his wallet. He's already got an unreliable rep.
Hate to say it but Matz is the classic guy you use up and discard. Things could change, but he's not someone you plan on signing as a free agent. Maybe you buy out a UFA year on the cheap if you feel flush.
like all team dr's lean toward what's best for the team not the player. Some decisions are no brainers like torn acl's others what is best for the team now and in the long run?

We can lose by not scoring, regardless who is starting
