watched you rise to the top amongst the beats. Your stuff improved over the years considerably to where I enjoyed reading you more than anyone else.
Unfortunately for Giants fans, this seems to keep happening, where top writers get pilfered.
Pat from IF is great, but writing for IF doesn't give her much exposure.
I hope the other beats notice what Jordan did to improve his writing. I don't know if it was a conscious reaction to feedback or maybe it's all in my head, but Jordan used to write the generic stories and over time he got into the X's and O's, breaking down plays, strategies, and stuff that hardcore Giants fans enjoy the most. Hoping to see more of that.
Regularly puts out worthy analysis in articles discussing Xs and Os during the season, not the usual puff pieces. Also appreciate how he often jumps on here to post and reply to comments about his articles, even to those being obnoxious to him.
Good luck Jordan...I wish you good fortune in the wars to come!
Is by far our best beat writer. He's the best we've had outside of MG. Hopefully he continues to write about the Giants. Maybe he takes over for Graziano. That'd be nice lol
I thought he really grew in that gig. Bit shakey year one at times but by his second year he was very good and he's been consistently good since. He's good at breaking down the games, for a writer he does that very well and he has shown he can develop a source.
Not surprised to see people have been watching his career.
RE: I actually think all the beat writing is the same... Â
Every city, every writer, same thing. But if you can get paid in journalism, then you are one of the talented/lucky few. So all the best.
I wonder what a regular writer at a place like NJ.com makes and a writer at NFL.com, ESPN or Fox Sports makes. In other words, was Graziano paid a lot more than JR.
when he first came onto the scene because one of his first articles was a bullshit poll on Tom Coughlin that still annoys me to this day. He gave the readers five choices: four of them had Coughlin returning in some capacity, and only one of them had Coughlin going. Naturally, the option with Coughlin going had the most votes, but with only something like 35%. So 65% of the votes were about Coughlin staying.
So the follow up article had the headline: "Readers Choice: Tom Coughlin Should Walk Away from the Giants". If you read the results piece, you wouldn't have known that most Giants fans wanted Coughlin to stay.

However, since then, Ranaan really turned things around and won me over. He worked hard and churned out great pieces of reporting. Reporting on Giants will now be worse.
He will be missed as a Giants beat writer and I wish him luck in his next endeavor. I hope NJ.com finds a suitable replacement.
Dan Duggan, who was already with the star ledger covering Rutgers. I'm a Rutgers fan so I've been following Duggan for while, and found him to be pretty good. Hopefully he continues that with covering the Giants. Link - ( New Window )
I wish him luck in his future endeavors.
I like Ranaan. Hope he got a lucrative gig for himself.

Yeah he is definitely a very personable writer to the fans. Just wish he would answer my damn stupid tweet questions more
but bub -- give up the hair schtick
was that the guy from nj.com?
no one seems to stay there very long lately.
and that was in a short time frame, like a couple years.
Also, nobody in journalism really "gets paid" anymore, unless they're basically a celebrity who also happens to write or go on TV.
Double-a before single-a, just like in the phone book.
*awkward silence ensues*
I'm not his biggest fan but I do respect him for that.

Looks like we're back to the awol Giants beat writers. Hopefully they can type something up on their spare time! Jk... (sort of)
I find their writers a nice antidote to the Post, which is Jets, Jets, Jets ugh.
+1

Not really. Some cities are perfectly content to be complete homers for their teams.
