Romo must go down....

BlueGuy : 6/30/2016 11:48 pm
....and he must go down hahrd.

What is the under over for Romo this year for games played? I've gotta tell you, I think he's gonna take a shot in the opener that will dictate the rest of his season and not in a good way. Vernon abused T. Smith last year which is a major part of why he was signed (to me, anyway).

Dallas is a serious state of flux all around with an OL that isn't exactly good at pass protection.

10 sacks in 2 playoff games last year. Yes. 10.

I feel strongly that Spags has the horses and will have NASCAR 2.0 rolling this year. If we take his binky away in Witten and double Dez with a safety over the top, the other guys in Dallas aren't making me lose any sleep.

This preseason is starting to feel like Christmas for me. I'm hopeful that we get a least one, good, clean shot on Romo to see where that back and collarbone are. And I do mean a clean shot. I know I paraphrased ol' Al Davis in the thread title, but I still believe in getting after the QB and getting after him good, but within the rules.

Bring pressure with the front four and an occasional Bullets blitzer and let's see if Tony the Tiger is a 'lil gunshy. I'm almost betting on it. The Dolphins had Romo shook up early with two picks but then had Tannehill throw the pick to McClain for a TD which really changed the course of the game.

Throw the house at Romo early to see where he is physically. He looks old and brittle to me when I see the game highlights from last year. I can't wait to see what another year does for Romo.

Also, did Dez seem a little slow footed to you last year, as well? All that partying will catch up to you. Except if you're Keith Richards. Then it just mummifies you.

Would that really help us?

I think it would hurt us. If he goes down you are basically giving Philly and Washington 2 wins a piece.

Not really worried about Philly. Washington has to do it with a more level playing field in the East this year.

That said, I was just thinking today that our pass rush could be very good this year, and Dallas may not be ready for it given how much we sucked at it last year.

Within the rules of the game, I have no problems with QBs taking shots.

Another internet tough guy making comments here you wouldn't dare say to another man's face. My honest opinion makes me an asswipe. Ok. Riiiight. Eli takes his hits and I respect that they take place during a violent game. You should watch soccer. More your speed. Like making potpourri, maybe. I write what most people here are thinking in reference to Romo's fragile state. Like it or not, it T-I-is what it T-I-is.

Put an H on your chest and handle it, keyboard warrior. Type on.

Nothing wrong with bringing the heat to see where he is physically. Nothing.

Oh, and where in any of that....
BlueGuy : 7/1/2016 2:40 am : link
....did I specifically root for the injury? I just said let's see where he is at. For me the blitzing is more mental after he takes a shot. He takes a good, clean hit within the context of the game and he will be gunshy.

He knows this is the last hurrah for him. Jerrah did him no favors this year with what is probably the worst draft I've seen in the last decade.

nccowboyfan : 7/1/2016 6:46 am : link
You nailed it. You're a regular Columbo. Dez is partying too much. That's exactly why he was gimpy the entire year. Has nothing to do with the broken foot he needed surgery on after the season ended.

Though, in fact, Room is moving around like he has the worse piles in the world. I hated number one pick, would have to found to way to get a decent QB prospect, if scouts liked any of them.

I think Dallas has to fear every time he goes back for a pass. His clavicle did not magically get stronger. It takes less and less to hit him and cause issue. He has to worry about how to fall when he has pressure. That is a big deal.

Now if you can't stop the run it will not matter
Won't root for the guy to get injured yet

if he does go down I hope it's later in the season than earlier. Wouldn't want to see a solid Dallas offense be awarded a young stud QB for a decade b/c Romo goes down in Sept .

they will be relying on the 2014 formula. They know that they cannot rely on Romo to stay healthy if he drops back 30 times a game. The big issue for them is that 1/3 of their starting defense is suspended the 1st four games of the year.

Going down meant vetting sacked hard to sbake him up. You can interpret that anyway you want. So wanting to see Romo get sacked and Shake It Up is a flat-out dumbass idea? Great. You're a genius, Lou. This Thread is going nowhere. The fact that you responded and keep responding as proof of that.

Again, wanting someone to get sacked and tackled hard is not the same as wanting them to get injured. Keep On Keepin On.

If he does get hurt, I get to tell Jerrah he should have listened to me and drafted a top QB either last year or this.

I can't believe he doesn't have a "decent" backup QB on his roster with what happened last year and in years past. Even a guy like Nassib. Does he think this is the year Romo doesn't get hurt?

is comical. Last I checked, anyone who played football tried to hit their opponent as hard as they could for obvious reasons. Everyone being sanctimonious about caring about Tony Romo's well being is a hypocrite. There is a difference between hitting someone hard to take their fight away and trying to injure someone. A QB who gets hit hard is less willing to stand in the pocket or step up in the pocket - see Tom Brady circa 2007 & 2011.

Holy shit. Are you on a power trip just because you started a thread?

You challenge me to find where you said you wanted him to get hurt?

Look at the first few lines of this stupid thread you started.

"Romo must go down....

BlueGuy : 6/30/2016 11:48 pm
....and he must go down hahrd.

What is the under over for Romo this year for games played? I've gotta tell you, I think he's gonna take a shot in the opener that will dictate the rest of his season and not in a good way."

You want him to go down and immediately follow that up with a question on how many games you think he'll play this season. You then state that you think he is going to take a shot which ruins his season-- a shot that you demand he takes with the first line in your post.

You are being neither subtle nor clever with your passive aggressive way of hoping that Romo takes a shot from the Giants which shortens his season. We all speak English. We also understand subtext.

Again, this thread reflects poorly on you and on Giants fans. You should want to delete this thread-- but only with your say so, m'Lord.

that it's wrong to root for injuries. But it's also kind of interesting how many Giants fans seem to have this fear that Dallas will be some kind of juggernaut with Romo staying healthy for sixteen games. Have you forgotten how full his resume is with epic mistakes, failures, blunders and brain farts during the most crucial moments of games and seasons? He can be counted on to fuck up almost as much as Eli can be counted on to step up in those situations. I say bring on Dallas, whole and healthy, especially with that defense they'll be putting on the field this season.

And when he inevitably gets rung up this year, hope it is just a good clean hard hit. The real clanger is the Cows management that picked Ezekial, tiptoeing past the graveyard in the hope that they could restore Tony to his flashes of glory with a renewed running game. In game 1, this year, the G-Men must stone the rookie, and pressure Tony when he starts trying to pass. Blue Guy was somewhat flamboyant and didn't express his point as discreetly or well as he might have, but his underlying point that Romo and the Cows are vulnerable this year, more so than for a long time, is worth reflection. Or, some of the meaner, self proclaimed smarter, posters can keep up with their nastiness, and try to change the heading to, BlueGuy must go down. But we are used to seeing that approach.

Far better than Russell Wilson? What are you smoking, I'd love to try some... They may be comparable as passers, but Russell Wilson is so much better with his legs, as a team leader and decision maker, and so much more of a winner, that it's not even worth arguing about. He's also ten times tougher than Romo, and several years younger. Wilson is the only QB in the NFL who is a threat as a runner and NEVER gets hurt. That's both because of his toughness and because he sees the whole field so much better than Romo ever could. In almost every category, there is simply no comparison between the two players, IMO.

Romo is a better pure passer than Wilson as are at least 8 other QBs. Wilson has some success on defined throws and he throws a pretty decent lob/jump ball.

Wilson does not see the field that well purely in the pocket and going through a lot of progressions in that area.

He sees the field extremely well after he plants his feet 10 seconds after a broken play begins.

The 3rd and 22nd tight sideline throw Romo made in Seattle is something I've never seen Wilson do. His guys on broken/extended plays are always wide open....like that play in Minnesota wild card game.

When Wilson fails to deliver in the playoffs again after his dominant defense does their best to keep the game respectable, people will keep praising him and knocking Romo.

Predictably.
The way you judge QBs is not
fanatic II : 7/1/2016 8:54 pm : link
by championships. Championships are won by teams.

Here is an example, Bradshaw won 4 SBs and two SB MVPs, but is not even considered a top 10 QB all time.

Marino won zero SBs and would be given greater consideration as a top 10 QB all time than Bradshaw.

Championships should be the last measure when comparing QBs.

In Wilson's first two years in the league Seattle had the #1 rated defense and rushing game in the NFL. This was the major impetus for Seattle going to the SB each year. Wilson was not asked to carry the team.

Imagine Wilson playing for New Orleans and being asked to carry the team as Brees is asked to or in Dallas as Romo does. I don't think he would perform as well.

I will give credit to Wilson last year in the 2nd half when the team needed him to step up in the passing game, he did the job.

Let's see how he does this(his 4th season) to see if he has progressed to the next level, elite QB.
Romo carries his team?
UberAlias : 7/1/2016 9:54 pm : link
Really? He has arguably the best Oline in the league, the best running game in the league, a stud WR and a hall of fame TE. The defense has hardly been lacking for talented players in his time there. Romo isn't carrying his team. What a joke.

Not a ton of room for interpretation.

"What is the under over for Romo this year for games played?" Taking liberties with what I actually wrote, I see.

Wanting Romo to hit the ground hard so he's a 'lil gunshy and WANTING him to get hurt are mutually exclusive from one another. Why is this so hard to understand?

If anyone had a reputation for not being able to make it through a season it was Darren McFadden, and he played all 16 last year. Romo could go down game one, but if they can protect him he could be a top 5 QB in the league. Cant tell with these things. If I had to bet, I would bet that Romo won't play more than 10 games, but I would have made the same bet for McFadden last season.

10 sacks in 2 playoff games, Glover. Kind of like the Gmen's inability to run the football. We are better in Pass protection than running the ball. Rare that you have a line that does both exceedingly well.

You just need to look at the Dallas winning percentage and offensive stats with Romo and without. The same ten other players, but totally different results.

Last year when Romo went down the opposing divisional fans were doing cartwheels. This thread and some of the responses are proof enough. Everyone knows that the other 52 don't matter if Romo is out. Romo is the key to Dallas's success, it's a fact.

Romo is a good QB and the play of Dallas backups was horseshit. But that hardly means Romo carries his team. I should point out they actually did okay when Brandon Weeden was in there and several of his stats were better than Romo's (better comp%, better TD to INT ration, better QBR).

How satisfied were you with Romo's play last season? The guy threw 7 picks to his 5 TDs and QBR under 80. That's what you call carrying his team? If that's what we have to look forward to, bring it on.

The truth is, Dallas is and always has been a bunch of front runners. It wasn't just Romo, the combination of Romo injury and Dez getting hurt and the team quit. No heart. Your coach is so overrated. He should have been able to get more out of them, but didn't. Personally, I've little doubt after the injuries Jerry was more than happy to write the season off to the injuries and get out of there with the #4 overall pick.

You'll spin the Return of the King narrative and will be a better team, no denying. But the truth is, Romo was not particularly good last season even when he played and crappy backups and gutless performance in the face of adversity doesn't translate into the guy carrying the team.

Wow, your basing your "Romo doesn't carry the team" argument on four games last year. Talk about cherry picking. Not being able to see that Romo is the key for Dallas to succeed doesn't say much for your football IQ.

Before I go, just want to address another clueless comment, the team quit. If you had done your homework and gone through the schedule you would have seen that the only game Dallas could be guilty of quitting in was the very last game versus Washington. The Dallas defense gave up 21 quick points in the 1st QT and the game was over.

Dallas may have lost many games, but the team played hard and fought to the end in all but one. Dallas just couldn't make any plays when the games were on the line and lost them. It was the inability of making plays that doomed Dallas, not their effort.
No, I am basing my argument on the fact that Dallas
UberAlias : 7/2/2016 11:23 am : link
Has a great offensive line, a dominant running game, an elite WR and a hall of fame TE. That is a FAR cry from the guy doing it all himself. And his mediocre play last season is a simple fact you need to live with.

Yeah, they sucked last year when Romo was not in there. Backup QB play was horrible. But having crappy backups is a weak ass argument for claiming the guy "carries" his team. They will probably send 6 - 8 players to the probowl and you will be back here saying it was all Romo. But I'm quite sure if there was a thread about who has the best OLine in the league or how Dez ranks among the elite WRs, or Witten's position among all time TEs, you won't be making the argument about it being all Romo then, so go on your way.
Funny how every year we hear about how "talented' Dallas is
UberAlias : 7/2/2016 11:25 am : link
every year -this is their year, they are loaded. Of course fanatic won't be making those arguments in this thread. Only when it suites him.
Here are the facts, I'm sure we can agree on:
UberAlias : 7/2/2016 11:32 am : link
1) Romo is a good QB
2) They are a better team with him than without him
3) They will be better this year with Romo back

Here is a myth that does not any any stretch extend from the above:
Romo carries his team.

Feel free to continually misinterpret my words. Here's a refresher. "I've gotta tell you, I think he's gonna take a shot in the opener that will dictate the rest of his season and not in a good way. Vernon abused T. Smith last year which is a major part of why he was signed (to me, anyway)."

That could also mean mentally once he gets planted with a good hard shot. Which is what I meant. As a corollary, I can also wonder about his long term health in this very, violent sport.

You're not getting it. Cool. Never speak to my character. You don't know what I do for people or causes that I care about. Intellect? Another subject you're not qualified to discuss with me.

No one has to question your character. Your words and reactions on this thread illustrate it quite easily. But thanks for the blanket statement about various causes you care about.

Intellect often reveals itself by a person's views and how the person is able to explain those views. You have done so rather poorly. Doubling down on your stubbornness by making irrelevant challenges to defend your intellect is meaningless and laughable. There are plenty of posters on BBI who have earned the respect of the community and who have shown to be intelligent and insightful posters.

If you're goal is to be one of those people, then you are off to a horrible start.

No one is being sanctimonious except you. They're saying stop digging yourself a hole if you want to be respected in the way you seem to think you're entitled to be. It has nothing to do with the actual ethics of "if Tony Romo is injured" and more to do with what you want and how you're acting in achieving that.

Does this count now as the last word and you won't respond to each person, point by point, with more nonsense to their honest advice? I'm tired of this thread reappearing, as if it were an actual football thread which the board seems bereft of for some reason the past few days.

"making a show of being morally superior to other people."

I'm not sure you know what this word means. Here. I'll help you out. Google is your friend.

When did I say I was 'morally' superior to anyone? Show me the exact quote. Now football? That I damn sure know more about.

Now go home and get........well, you know the rest.
I'm super excited BBI got rid
Modus Operandi : 7/5/2016 6:24 pm : link
of those venomous political threads. Now we can all enjoy some civil football discussion.

Wait..
