Thinking back to the days of the 90s when I'd watch ol #31 play every week, was wondering what were the thoughts on him drafted or prior to being to drafted? Did he have a lot of hype?
That INT catch vs Philly in 2000 was the craziest INT I've ever seen lol
I remember reading that Strahan and others were in tears when he got carted off the field.
I love JS, but some of the bad stuff comes to mind too....the first Ravens TD in the SB....I'm not sure the deep guy was Jason's, but that first quick TD struck doubts early in the game. Nobody talked about Dilfer and the Ravens offense....That killed me and it changed the tone quickly.
The "let me pull up my pants (forget against who) and let them score" killed me too.
And all because HE wanted to return kicks. Coaching f-up. We had other guys who could return kicks. Don't let the players pick their positions.
I also recall a game maybe the year before. I was sitting behind the bench with my son and some drunk is yelling, "hey Sehorn, who's banging your wife tonight?". Sehorn yells back at the guy but I couldn't hear what he said. It was ugly.

I still get sick to my stomach thinking about his injury. A kickoff return in a meaningless preseason game.

That's bullshit, football is a tough sport. He could have been hurt anytime.

Happened right in front of me as well. Wasn't sure he didn't trap it until he got up and began to run
Then came '96 and everything clicked.
He was a stud player. Sad his injury changed his career
Got my ticket from a season ticket holder who had to participate in a charity telethon that was being held that day. Paid face plus a $25. contribution to the charity. Good deal all ways around.
Was a freak athlete, who was on the verge of becoming a superstar in the league IMO.
Then he hurt the knee the following preseason and nevergot back to where he was. Even in 2000, he really struggled a lot of that year. Then he had the playoff run, and the Giants had to pay him.
In hindsight, they should have signed Tiki's brother.........
I don't remember him running back on the field. But I do remember the doctor looking at him on the sideline, and after they knew what it was, it was almost like Sehorn was consoling the doctor....as if he felt terrible telling Jason that he has just tore the ACL and was done.
Ex-wife, right. I thought he split with Harmon.
Later against Cards, up by 5-6 points, under a minute. Cards had the ball down to around 15. 4 passes to end zone. Sehorn was the "extra DB." He was within a step of rcvr on all four (incomplete) pass attempts, and I remember thinking with a year of experience, those would be INT's.
Couple years later, he was at least top 3 on team in INT, PD, sacks, tackles, FF and recoveries. He shut down Irving, Art Monk, Herman Moore........combined 1 TD in 5 games.
He was at a disadvantage against the "Smurf" type of rcvrs, but against the big rcvrs that were dominating the league at the time, he was a true shut down corner.

all around football athletes. Certainly the best Giants corner back. His wife is my all time favorite gal celebrity.

She's hot but I hate her political views
After the injury, he could not cut quickly in the opposite direction, so if he went for a fake, he couldn't recover as fast as he use to....
I don't care what anyone says, he shouldn't have been returning kickoffs in a preseason game....
At his best, he was a shutdown corner, and one of my faves......

The Int was right in front of us. I could see it was a pick immediately. I remember jumping up, that's a catch!

Was also there and it was right in front of my little group.
Ron Dixon started that game off with a KR TD - best game I've personally ever attended at Giants Stadium.
Fassel should be lauded for trying to maximize Sehorn's talents but fans kill him because of the injury. That's unfair. Deion and Daryl Green played specials and shined. LT even played special teams.
Sehorn wasn't the same player in 2000 by a long shot. He got by on instincts and guile more than AA. Sad to think how good he would have been after gaining the experience because in 96-97 he was still a younger player.
Funny story: my Old Man's friend was a season ticket holder &, after the Giants lost to Baltimore earlier that season, gave him his seats for the Giants-Skins home game thinking it was a lost season.
I think Sehorn had 2 picks in that game. 19 years later, I can still see him running that 2nd pick back towards the back of the end zone where we were sitting.
