The NYTimes lists 32 drinks in their "most refreshing drinks" compilation linked below.
As for me I binge on a few different drinks in the summer --
I like Campari and Soda, Sangria, and Iced Tea myself
Campari and soda
Our Most Refreshing Drinks - (
New Window )
1/3 OJ
1/3 Grapefruit
1/3 Cranberry
Booze optional.
if I want to make my drink(s) last longer I might add some club soda, but I'm just postponing the inevitable.
Ten Ton - it's kinda like very slightly bitter with a sweet lightly syrupy edge to it
It's bitter. My old man used to enjoy a Campari and soda from time to time. Never cared for the stuff, myself.
Non alcoholic would be the half and half, I'm a sucker for both ice tea and lemonade, and the two together kick some serious ass.
Bitter orange.
simple syrup
vodka
on ice
You can put some elderflower liqueur in there. Some sage in the simple syrup is good too.
1oz fresh lime juice
top with ginger beer
crushed ice
If you're looking for something that qualifies as refreshing it's definitely worth a shot. Good for light drinkers especially since you're really getting the ginger and lime and not the vodka hit.

AKA the Arnold Palmer.
koko -- that looks similar to Campari -- I have to try that
Sometimes a go a little heavy on the Vodka part and the drink becomes a John Daly.

but summertime is go time for beer. Nothing like an ice cold beer on a hot day.

Actually, the half and half is not the Arnold Palmer. Palmer's recipe is at least 75% iced tea.

If you say so.
Like a good golf swing, the Arnold Palmer is all about proper balance.
"Iced tea dominates the drink, and if it doesn't, it's not really right," Palmer says.

every recipe I find has 50/50, maybe 50% iced tea dominates the lemonade.
I see nowhere that says "at least 75%" but whatever I don't care. 99% of people use them synonymously.

No problem pj -- don't listen to the guy that invented the drink and who it's named after

You are looking up recipes for "half and half" drinks, that's why. That's not his drink. Arnold Palmer himself said that the drink is primarily iced tea. Watch the ESPN commercial. He fills his cup with iced tea, then lemonade, then more iced tea. Video proof it's not half and half.
Frebert = Fresca + Sherbet

I googled "How do you make an Arnold Palmer" nothing to do with half & half.
first link:
Use store-bought lemonade and iced tea. If you'd like to make a big pitcher of Arnold Palmer, fill a large pitcher or drink dispenser halfway with the lemonade. Top off with the iced tea, and stir to combine.
the second link from allrecipes:
19 made it | 15 reviews
5 fluid ounces prepared lemonade
Newman's Own Lemonade Lightly Sweetened Virgin
2 For $4.00 - expires in 6 days
5 fluid ounces prepared iced tea
1 cup ice
they are used interchangeably. and I don't care anymore....
I deserved that.
On a not too hot summer night with a sultry babe on my arm (my wife) champagne or other fine and dry sparkling wine like a Cava or Cali version. Yarden of Israel makes a dynamite bubbly.

That's fine.
I'll go ahead and trust Arnold Palmer on how to make the drink he created. Not some bored housewife's variation of it on Allrecipes. If the video proof of Palmer making it himself doesn't sink in with you, i guess there's nothing more I can say. Enjoy your "Half and Half". My Arnold Palmer is delicious.
