Still early, but Joker down a set and a 2 breaks to Querrey from the USA. Something does not look right with Joker as his neck and back seem to be giving him problems. Querrey's serve has been a monster so far.

This following Serena's squeaking by. Mchale had a chance, but her first serve abandoned her.

Yes, big dip in serving from Raonic
Andy in Halifax : 7/8/2016 9:34 am : link
Fed HAD to capitalize. All even, Fed has a great chance.
fed got it going now.
dep026 : 7/8/2016 10:08 am : link
Raonic flustered. Break him early fed.
End it Fed

.
Fed seemed to figure out that Milos really struggling
Andy in Halifax : 7/8/2016 10:13 am : link
with the return and has taken some off and hitting the angles. Milos cannot get them back, he prefers pace to block back.

Looks like Fed will advance. Crazy considering how little he played and he's not 100% fit.
Raonic is really grinding
dep026 : 7/8/2016 10:41 am : link
Getting close to being broken, but still holding serve.

Duece at 4-4.
really pulling for Fed
PaulBlakeTSU : 7/8/2016 10:52 am : link
One of my favorite champions ever. His sustained success is unbelievable. Raonic hits some monster serves
wow
dep026 : 7/8/2016 10:54 am : link
fed up 40-0, goes to duece. As he loses his serve with 2 doubles.
Damn it
dep026 : 7/8/2016 10:59 am : link
just awful by Federer that game. Your up 40-0 on a guy who cant return your serve and you fault 7 times with 2 doubles thrown out. Raonic was outclassed all set with no prayer of breaking and faced being broken 5 times that set and winds up winning without a tie breaker.

Momentum now on Raonic side. He's the favorite to win this match now.
Fed has been serving poorly
PaulBlakeTSU : 7/8/2016 11:03 am : link
today. Struggling with that first serve. 5-8 years ago, Fed would have been showered and massaged by now.

if it comes down to serving, I dont see how Fed wins. Raonic is really doing well on his 2nd serve. If Fed doesnt get more 1st serves in, it will be a missed opportunity.
2nd time for the trainer
dep026 : 7/8/2016 11:16 am : link
Facing break point. Odds are stacking against him.
and there is the match
dep026 : 7/8/2016 11:19 am : link
Federer really let this one slip away because he couldnt serve.
Fed really needs to consider retirement
dep026 : 7/8/2016 11:24 am : link
at this point. I mean this is a match even 2 years ago that is over in less than 2 hours. I understand that he still plays at a higher level than most, but seeing some of these loses were he isnt competitive (joker) or loses to guys who arent as good as him, its too rough to see.
consider retirement?
PaulBlakeTSU : 7/8/2016 11:33 am : link
Why? He's still one of the best players in the world, even if he hasn't been able to win the Major. He's still making it to semi-finals, still consistently beating players and doing so at an age where he shouldn't even be this competitive in an age with such powerful hitters. He's a few missed shots away from being in the Finals. And he's still making a fortune doing what he loves.
That's asinine
Andy in Halifax : 7/8/2016 11:35 am : link
Fed is still a fantastic player. Raonic has dramatically improved and is ascending to the top 5. This isn't a bad loss at all.
Very sad for Fed, wanted him to win
Andy in Halifax : 7/8/2016 11:37 am : link
But this is an amazing result for Canadian tennis.

Its gonna be 5 years since he won a major. This may have been his last chance. Like I said, this is a match he didnt lose as recent as last year. He is still a very good player, but his skills are clearly diminishing and these young guns along with Djokovic arent going away any time soon.

Its a bad loss because his serve was absolutely putrid. He gave away free points.
What young guns?
Andy in Halifax : 7/8/2016 11:42 am : link
Raonic is rising, but there is very little else pushing Djoker. I fear we are headed into another dead era of men's tennis.
Fed
PaulBlakeTSU : 7/8/2016 11:44 am : link
hasn't won since Wimbledon 2012. Murray hasn't won since Wimbledon 2013. 5 years is a long time, sure, and he likely will never win one again. But in his last four majors, he made 2 Finals and 2 Semifinals. He's the #3 player in the world. No reason to retire because of that. Keep fighting if he loves the process and loves playing and maybe he'll sneak one out before he falls off.

Not so fast, not so fast... LOL.
Of course you waited to post that. Of course you did.
Andy in Halifax : 7/8/2016 12:08 pm : link
Why do you even post about Federer? You famously proclaimed "Federer is done" after the 2008 Australian Open. He was so done that he went to the next 8 GS finals (second longest streak in tennis history, behind... Federer) winning 4.

That was 8(!) years ago.

I would think that level of embarrassment would get you to stick to Tiger Woods threads.
Speaking of Tiger...
Stan in LA : 7/8/2016 12:23 pm : link
Prediction in 2008, "No more Majors!"

How'd that work out?
Great. You nailed that one, no question
Andy in Halifax : 7/8/2016 12:26 pm : link
But that's exactly why you should troll the golf threads and leave the tennis ones alone. Tennis isn't your forte, obviously.
