NFT: Chipmunks - a danger to your home?

My brother in law and I are having a bit of disagreement over this.

Should a homeowner strive to evict chipmunks who burrow near/next to his or her home?

are burrowers. I've never heard of chipmunks moving into a house like squirrels or mice and chewing wires. they aren't a hazard. they're just a PIA

They will get inside a chew shit up. The reality is they're nearly impossible to get rid of. Kill those and others will replace them

I have seen them nest in my garage and they leave the structure alone.

but I kill them anyway. They burrow in my grass, eat my strawberries, and are rodents.

And yes, cats will catch and kill them. Of course they will also bring live ones in the house and set them free.

no problem at all. we would feed them out of our hand. Getting the trust of a wild creature is awesome. they loved peanuts, sunflower seeds and grapes.

them.I had two in my basement two years ago....when I started chasing them around they knew they were in trouble and chewed my Anderson casements around the glass to the bone.

Short term solution is a home brew of pepper in water.
If you have vinyl or aluminum siding they like to get under that and find a safe spot.

nice to look at.....not goood for your house.

In my yard and the squirrels keep eating my bait.

I watched them this morning and one got bold and hung off the rim, reaching into the bucket for scraps. His buddy jumped up to the rim and knocked him into the bucket "by accident" then took off. Now I have to figure out how to dispose of this squirrel (dump in the woods or bag and trash).
