NFT: Hiking in NW Connecticut (Litchfield County)?

NYGmen58 : 7/19/2016 4:25 pm
Hey guys,

I will be spending the weekend with a few other couples at the Interlaken Inn in Salisbury/Lakeville CT and we're looking to go for a nice hike Saturday morning so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a particular hike or park with hiking trails.

While it does not need to be right by where we are staying, we were hoping to go somewhere within a 30 min drive. Can anyone suggest a few scenic hikes in Litchfield County, ideally off route 7 or route 41?

To be clear we are only looking to do a 2-3 hour hikee, not spend all day there, if that helps.

Thanks in advance!
Will this be in the nude?

Sounds like a swingers weekend. Have fun with it.
Lions head

Lions head is a relatively easy hike. If you want a challenge you can hike to the top of bear mountain.

trail is about 25min away from there.

Any coincidence that you're at the Interlaken the weekend of the IMSA race at Lime Rock?
Kent Falls, maybe?

I don't think you need to go as far afield as Bear Mountain. There are several beautiful stretches of the Appalachian Trail nearby.
Several places

Mt. Tom State Park (Litchfield-Morris) there is a trail that takes you to a stone tower with great views.

Mohawk Mtn. State forest (Rte 4 Cornwall)- several trails in the state forest.

White's Woods (Litchfield)- several trails within the park including a boardwalk past several ponds and the Bantam River. More level than Mohawk Mountain.

The CT portion of the Appalachian Trail runs between Kent and Salisbury and will take you over Bear Mountain.

Enjoy!

just north of Great Barrington MA on RT 7. Only 30 min from Lakeville CT. Nice short steep hike, with awesome rock formations and views.

Google it
