the Miami thing had blown up earlier? Seems like an awful signing if it meant not signing Lee and Jennings and renouncing Thomas. Seems like the only way we'd have been able to afford Wade, and even that would have required Wade to take a discount.
What say you?
I don't think the knicks goal is to get a max slot next year, I think if all goes well they keep this starting 5 for the next 4-5 years and just keep adding to the bench...
I could see Jennings back unless he really has a great year and someone offers him a starting role and big money but I think his best role is 6th man on a good team..
More likely though he plays well and gets a chance to have a bigger role somewhere next year, a la Jeremy Lin.
Lee is a meh player who had the good fortune to be a free agent in a year with a massive cap space increase. Don't get me wrong, he is a nice addition on defense. But anyone expecting him to be a game changer is going to be disappointed.
Thomas is a dime a dozen.
Jennings would be uneccesary with Wade.
So I don't really see how These three are not close to Wade. So unless Wade was demanding a 5 year deal, it's a no brainier to me

First off knicks do not need lee to be a game changer, he is what he is a good defender and a floor spacer on offense..
don't compare him to Shumpert, Shumpert does not deserve that respect, Lee is a better shooter and defender..
secondly how does signing wade mean you don't need Jennings? Jennings is going to be the 6th man energy scorer off the bench, Wade would have been the starter at the 2...
also knicks have their 3 scorers they needed defense and shooters to surround them which they got..
Lance thomas for as much as I hated him last year is needed on this team this year because he is the all purpose guy off the bench they needed, hopefully they don't need him for more...
Wade is a hall of fame but he is not a good fit for this team and I'd rather have the better pieces to build a better team then 1 player, especially when you already have 3 scorers in place
Adding intrigue to Plumlees story is he joined the Army Reserve last year and plans a career in the military after he hangs up his basketball shoes.
The Knicks didnt have a pick in either round of the NBA Draft and were willing to pay for a second-round pick until the cost got too extreme (over $2 million). Knicks president Phil Jackson anticipated two seniors they liked would fall out of the draft Plumlee and shooting guard Ron Baker of Wichita State.
We were hoping he wouldnt be drafted, because he had a chance to go where he wanted, Krzyzewski said. He had great workouts. We knew somebody was going to have an interest. We knew hed go to a training camp. Its a dream to be able to go to the Knicks for him.

Yeah, I don't see it.
it literally can't happen due to cap/trade rules. The guy might be a legit writer, but if he's reporting this he's extremely misinformed.
If Rose were to miss some games, who steps in, and who backs up at pg?
Just too thin. And on a team with perimeter defensive problems to begin with, doing without Thomas would have hurt.
the Spurs have contracts to trade. The Knicks don't.

noting he said the EXACT same thing about the Spurs and Monroe

No, meaning he said "The Spurs are interested provided they find a third team to make it work"

according to the trade machine, the Spurs could in fact make it work on their own, whereas the Knicks could involve 5 other teas and still don't have the contracts to executive a trade for Monroe. This guy is even more lost than I thought.
might have/would have/could have.
He might better 'ferme la gross bouche'
Brooklyn Nets & former Indiana All-American point guard Yogi Ferrell have agreed to a 1-year, partially guaranteed deal, per league sources.
