Nassib steps up with Eli out injured and shines, the next Hostetler.
Andre Williams becomes an NFL all star RB.
Will Tye catches 80 plus passes - and learns to block.
Special teams loaded with hungry rookies & new signees become an
Exceptional unit with several key kick offs & punts returned all the way
& FGs blocked in key moments.
Bobby Hart steps up and solidifies OL at either RG or RT.
Owa absolutely "kills", a reincarnation of Osi.
Note: it will be the Alphabet Assassins: JPP, OV, OO "sandwiched"
around "Snacks" & "Hanks".
... after McAdoo, not wanting to risk injury to the QB who led the team to a 15-0 start, sits Eli in week 17. Nassib gets his first win as a starter. Eli wins the next 3 games, culminating in a 49-0 win over the Patriots in Super Bowl 51 leading the Giants to the league's first 19-0 season.

We have all sorts of "keys to the season" but I think staying healthy is the #1 key. We have lost more man games to injury and IR'd more players overall than anyone since mid 2012.
If we had stayed healthier in those seasons, been "average" even in terms of injuries, we likely make the playoffs a few times, definitely in 2012 where we could have competed.
We sucked in 2015 because we lost JPP to 4th of July; Hankins didn't step it up and got hurt; and the secondary was decimated with injuries before the season started and in season with Prince.
If we "surprise" and the starting 22 stay fairly healthy we will win the division and more. It really is that simple.
The base group certainly can't get hurt: Eli, OBJ, Flowers, Pugh (probowl type guy), Richburg, DE Vernon, JPP, Hankins, Snacks, Cromartie, Jenkins. Not sure who else qualifies as pretty much KEY, meaning losing them the dropoff is incredible. Maybe FB Johnson who will bring an awful lot to this team. Or RB Vereen who will be a 3rd down conversion machine for us.
Very interesting. All four of our starting DL's are well above average run defenders. In matter of fact, Snacks is possibly the league's best run stuffing interior guy. Hankins is going to bounce back and be top notch with Snacks next to him. Vernon is super solid on the edge as is JPP (assuming 3 fingers work well enough to grip).
I think L. Collins playing near the LOS at safety also helps the run defense. I would not be surprised if LB Robinson ends up playing WLB over JT Thomas and is an upgrade. LB Kennard, if healthy, is a stud run stuffer and good pass rusher.
The potential for this team to have a top run stuffing unit is there. We just need to stay healthy AND we also need the youth to develop and bring it as well.
I was going to say Thompson becomes the leader/glue of our defense.
I think D. Thompson has the most upside of any safety we have so if he did step up and become a solid starting FS for us we'd be vastly improved from year's past.
Our "biggest hole on defense" right now appears to be FS, a mid-fielder who excels in coverage and gets us interceptions. A guy who leads. Personally, I'm hoping the young safeties all fight so hard and are above average. We'll be suiting up four safeties on game day for sure, and we'll play a lot of dime packages in this pass happy league, so the more talent we have the better.
A nice surprise would be to average more than one rushing TD per game. Last year they had just five all year, which is just brutal.
With FB Johnson blocking; with improved TE play and blocking; with an improved left side of the OL and especially entire OL continuity; well, I have to believe we'll have at least a TD a game on the ground. I'm hoping for no less than 20 TD's at RB, to be honest, as that would mean our redzone offense really, really stepped up.
The big problem we have at RB is that we have a "solid" bunch but no true burners. I think our run game will be about time of possession, about mixing it up. One guy who could be a force if he learns and is used correctly is RB A. Williams. Can he bust out with FB Johnson and improved blocking in front of him?
Can rookie RB Perkins be slowly worked into the lineup and be a force by the last quarter of the season? We shall see but I think our run game will be vastly improved.
And has 10 sacks and many QB hits. He is the surprise of camp and the NFL as he is only 5' 10" tall. Spags creates situational matchup advantages with him and he totally surprises with his quickness, motor and skills.
The Giants are therefore top 5 in the league in sacks and the defense is top 10 rather than 32nd.
#2 Odighizuwa contributes 8+ sacks.

Block this man!
then he Giants sign Ryan Fitzpatrick and win the Super Bowl while Geno Smith throws 27 int's and three TD's.
Why would any fan write that?
Giants lead the league in interceptions.
The Giants never lose the NFC Championiship Game.

Considering Spagnuolo's recent track record, would that really qualify as a surprise?
Amen!

My favorite response so far.
Donte Deayon, all 155# 0f him, becomes the Giants' "starting" slot corner and thrives in the role while grabbing 4 ints.
My second favorite surprise so far...

He combines with Beckham to have more catches, yards, and TDs than any duo in league.
And....Eli throws for 43 TDs. Maybe 45 but I want to low ball the projection at 43 TDs.
