but to be honest I miss the old ways of two a days and Camp in different place (albany, Fairly ridiculous U., etc) than where they are now.
I can't wait.

I start looking forward to football season as soon as the July 4th holiday passes.

The Giants first preseason game is 8/12, two short weeks from tomorrow. I am ready!
Love this time of year. So much hope and....

optimism. Especially this year with so many new players and coaches. No telling what's ahead, but it feels like something good is about to happen for this team. The only thing that would make it better would be if we could get Marty's daily camp reports.
I miss 2 a days, as well...
okiegiant : 7/21/2016 10:39 am : link
with morning and afternoon practice reports from Marty and many others.

Just doesn't seem as exciting anymore. Now having said this, I'm pumped about the possibilities this year. Can't wait to see what the Giants have.
I'm pumped....

also looking forward to seeing the team practice on August 15.
So much to do, so little time to do it.

Just stay healthy, please.
I can't wait to see the defense specifically ...

Is there anyway I can forward the link for the John Smith YouTube video "LT, Greatest of All Time" to every linebacker on the roster and coach McGovern for additional inspiration? Not that they need any but add some fuel to stoke the fire (even though by today's NFL rules, some of the hits LT made are in the category of roughing the passer or unnecessary roughness).

Just a silly thought...( hurry up and get here training camp )

ONE-a-days .... ONE more week. : )
Just very excited to sse how new coach handles his business...

...How can you not be fired up for the beginning of a new era of Giants football?

Coach Benny Mac - how will he handle adversity, success and the trials and tribulations of being a head coach in the NFL? Wouldn't it be something if this guy turned out to be the next great Giants head coach....
What is is 22 days until game 1 of pre-season vs Miami?

August 12.

I am really looking forward to seeing this whole team practice, injury free, from the outset.

As I do with every camp, I pray for no injuries. I mean, I know injuries will happen because football is a tough, physical game. But if you can get out of camp healthy; practicing healthy; learning; well, you have a real shot at coming out of the gates strong.

We need a 3-0 start. Beat arch enemy Dallas in their house. I don't care by how much, just 1 is fine. Set the tone for the season. Dallas has a suspect defense overall so we likely will score but their offense should be prolific. I think Dallas will be top 2 in terms of time of possession. They will use that OL, TE Witten to control the ball on the ground via Elliott.

Beat NO in our house. Their defense is suspect but their offense should be sound. Will our defense be in sync enough with all the new faces to contain their offense?

Game 3 is vs Washington in our house and this is a game we must win as well. Is Cousins the real deal at QB? Washington only beat bad teams last year and were crushed by the better teams? How much have they improved? I don't think they've improved as much as we have but we truly won't know that until the real bullets begin flying.

If we start 3-0 early, before we begin to gel on defense, we set the tone for the season. Games 4 and 5 vs MN and GB on the road will be brutal. If we were to fall to 3-2, it wouldn't be the end of the world considering it is early and the level of competition we are facing on the road.

Camp can't start soon enough for me!

I have seen more tough camps in high school and college.

On a more serious note, would be great to see a team that shows some level of physical effort in terms of fundamentals in the pre-season efforts. You could clearly notice the lack of basics in pre-season for each of the previous 4 losing seasons. Hopefully the new regime transforms this quickly and permanently.

This is were I'm at too after 6+ months of no football. (Any football without the Giants IS no football, IMO!)

Get to see what kind of talent this team has, and if it's starting to come together. First look at many players in a game situation, this is where the rubber meets the road. See if any sophomore talents progress or REGRESS!

Particularly interested to see vet defense acquisitions and rookie defensive draftees and FA's. Though I don't expect to see a lot of action from off season vet. FA acquisitions, they're more known quantities and it's more important that they make it into the season healthy.

I'm always very interested in RB's and until games, I don't believe you can assess too much about what they have the potential to do. Curious to see if Rainey can find a niche, I think he might, particularly if he can find a spot on specials.

I don't see RB sticking ahead of A. Williams or even O. Dwarka. These two know the offense and are younger. Rainey is 29. Now, if injuries hit well we'll see. RB Perkins is my "wild card" in the sense that I think he'll develop as the year goes and hopefully be a viable force for us late in the year.

RB Jennings is 31 too and who is to say he is the guy of year's past anymore, or doesn't wear down a lot as the season goes? We need options.

I see Rainey as more of a guy who gets to the final cuts and just misses out. He's asked to stay in shape and be ready should injuries mount.

Finally, I too am looking forward to seeing how the youth does. Do the injured rebound?

I know this is "wishful / hopeful thinking" personified but I truly LOVE this draft class of ours. I think CB Eli Apple will be a solid outside corner for us, though he will likely struggle early in the year. I truly believe WR Sheppard may end up being a stud pick, a guy who is reliable, quick and hard to cover - a true blanket guy for Eli. He too will likely have struggles early but will develop THIS YEAR.

FS D. Thompson may just be our starter. I mean, the rest of the safeties are inexperienced too even if they have been in the NFL for at least a year. I had predicted FS B. Jackson to be the opening day starter if healthy but that is based on the fact that he was looking very good there in camp last year before his ACL. He knows the defense and it is year #3. Does Spags start a rookie again at FS? Not so sure...we'll see.

All of our picks seem to be players. If this draft class develops as the season moves a long and virtually all of them are contributing by the last quarter of the season we could surprise just like we did in 2007. This team reminds me of 2007. We aren't as deep on the DL or purely talented as that team was but we aren't too far behind either.

If JPP, Vernon, Hankins, Cromartie and maybe J. Jenkins can have probowl type years (they have the talent) and stay healthy, this defense will be much better than most believe.

I also really like LB Kennard should he stay healthy. He has really flashed and been a true hammer when healthy. LB Robinson has the speed to cover the middle of the field and we have NOT had that type of coverage ability in awhile.

Just stay healthy through camp and the year and we'll compete. It feels like 2007 to me.
