Why is one violent crime to be elevated over other violent crimes?
As a Giants fan, I am already skipping ahead to thoughts of a possible suspension, but clearly this girl needs to get help. Whether these bruises are from Elliott or not, she clearly has been beaten. Very troubling to see. Just awful.

Beating up a 5 year old is not inherently worse than beating up a peer? Really?
Update (10:20 a.m.): Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has been named a suspect in a domestic violence police report obtained by TMZ Sports ... but the 21-year-old has DENIED any wrongdoing and was NOT arrested.
The female accuser filed a report with the Columbus PD in Ohio Friday morning ... saying she was assaulted by Elliott -- who she claims is her former live-in boyfriend -- while sitting in the driver's seat of her parked vehicle.
The officers who responded to the scene say the woman claims she had pain in her wrist and a red mark -- but declined medical treatment.
Cops contacted Elliott -- who denied striking the woman. He also said he never lived with her.
In the report, cops list the accuser as a 20-year-old woman -- 5'5", 120 lbs. Elliott is listed at 6'0", 225 lbs.
According to the report, cops also spoke with 4 witnesses -- but they all told cops they didn't see an assault. One of the witnesses was in the car at the time of the alleged incident.
Due to the conflicting reports, Elliott was NOT arrested -- but the accuser was referred to the prosecutor's office ... if she wants to try to press charges.
We reached out to Elliott's camp -- one person in his agent's office told us, "I can assure you [the allegations] are not true."
Update (10:20 a.m.): TMZ is reporting that they have obtained a copy of a police report detailing Elliott’s alleged assault of Thompson. According to the report, Elliott allegedly attacked Thompson while she was sitting the driver’s seat of her parked car. The report states that Elliott was not arrested due to conflicting reports from witnesses, but that Thompson was referred to the prosecutor’s office.

Why is one violent crime to be elevated over other violent crimes?
Because domestic abuse seemingly happens "non-stop" in pro sports nowadays. Not all "violent" crimes are equal in my eyes. I don't think 2 grown men getting into a fight at a bar is the same as someone putting their hands on women. There is something to be said for being an "equal" in terms of physicality as well. Me fighting you (Greg) likely doesn't have the same result of me punching my wife. I think it's time we scare the shit out of anyone who even thinks of grabbing, hitting, pushing, terrorizing a woman or child.
getting beaten up by a chiseled football player? Is that much more even a contest?
Violent crime is violent crime. I have no issue with lengthy suspensions for players who commit violent crimes but I see no reason to pick and choose between them.
I generally agree with a lot of what you say but I think you are really in an extreme minority view if you really don't think domestic abuse (women, children etc) should have a stricter punishment then say a player getting into a fist fight with a bouncer at a club.
Too many people were quick to judge Bromley with his situation but that woman was nuts. I am not saying this is the case here but you ha e to let both sides play out. There are 2 conflicting facts that can be found out. She is saying they lived together and Elliot said he never did. The "witnesses" said they didn't see anything that would constitute as domestic violence. She somehow has bruises. A lot of conflicting info.

Really? So a child abuse is the same as a big guy picking a fight with a smaller dude? Just think about that...seriously...just think.

The issue with your comparison is it's been proven that abused partners very often are unable to "break away". A huge guy destroying some tiny man in your scenario would likely result in extreme injuries and obviously that too would result in a major suspension. The point is if Eli Manning gives a bounce a black eye because he spilled a drink on him, that's an isolated incident. Domestic abuse very often is not. These guys need to be "trained" out of thinking this is even an option. Bar fights will happen until the end of time.
I said, in this case innocent until proven guilty. Easy to throw out accusations. Witnesses differing stories is something to note. Witch hunts suck too.
since the TMZ story of a police report and EE's agent's denial.
And ESPN/NFL Network still not acknowledging. See how long they take.
No offense to what you are posting but I would rather have a news outlet get the story correct by gathering as many facts as possible before rushing to announce anything.

There's a problem in this country with violence against women, and its definitely prevalent with athletes. The law treats domestic abuse more harshly than a bar fight, so why shouldn't the NFL?
Yes, hitting a man who's that same size isn't right either, but how large is that problem? The last time something like that popped up that I remember was with Jahlil Okafor and apparently that guy hit him first and kept coming at him (I could be wrong).
But still, what would you do if some guy at your wife's office hit her? I'm guessing you wouldn't weigh it the same as if he hit another male co-worker of the same size.

That's the reason I mentioned the police report and the quo from agent. Those are clearly reportable facts. Not just unattributed photos on social media.
But violent crimes are violent crimes. Don't see why they wouldn't all be punished accordingly.
But no one is saying don't punish one while punishing others. You, on the other hand, give an impression of all violent crimes needing to be categorized as the same crime.
A player getting into a fight after a drunken night out should get punished; a player beating his child should get punished far far more severly.
Well, you introduce emotion into the situation with that question Â
But violent crimes are violent crimes. Don't see why they wouldn't all be punished accordingly.
even the police have different rules for domestic violence, it's not the same because in cases of domestic violence, far more than other violent crimes, the victim feels scared and sometimes intimidated to the point it's un or under-reported. It also carries a mental abuse portion that normally isn't there with a simple assault.
police have different actions and protocol for domestic violence and I think it makes sense for the NFL to do so as well.
agree with DMM, a one-off bar fight should have ramifications, beating your wife/GF should have different ones.
Ray Rice still has no job and he recently said if anyone hires him he'd donate his entire paycheck to DV related charities. Maybe he wasn't elite, but he was better than some backs trotted out there on a weekly basis.
its supposed to be a safe place. It isn't a public place, it isn't a workplace, it isn't a bar. Women and children should be safe in their own home. I really don't understand your stance here.
1. Bromley's accuser didn't have bruises all over (at least to my knowledge) that supported her claims.
2. I believe Hardy had "witnesses" too. It's a much stronger statement if the witness in the backseat that claimed he/she didn't see any abuse is a good friend of the GF rather than a long time friend of Elliott's.
RE: Well, you introduce emotion into the situation with that question Â
My issue is with the notion that some victims are somehow worthier of protection than others.
Yes...children most definitely should be worthier of more protection. And I won't even touch the touchy subject of women since some would say that women can defend themselves in many cases.
because that is a completely ridiculous way to address any issues of abuse, but enjoy the thumbs up, likes or karma or new instagram followers or whatever.
Maybe dude is a piece of shit and he did all that to her. That's awful, but just insinuating an issue via social media is pretty dumb.

You would think it would be this easy...but its not. A cycle of abuse can be a very tough thing to break.
Why?
Care to elaborate?
Go on? I'm failing to see how posting these pics makes her a dumb shit.
Why is one violent crime to be elevated over other violent crimes?
Nice curve ball. Please explain why she is a dumb shit.

Agreed.
