Even beats out, "Playoffs? Playoffs?"
That's why we took the damned field!

Agreed. Mora's quote is so tired that I hope I never hear it again. Green's rant on the other hand is priceless and never gets old.

Giants had some memorable playoff games vs. Green and the Vikings. 1997 was a brutal loss. Absolutely brutal. I remember at one point late in the game Minnesota was down by nine and they punted. I thought they were crazy and was in full blown celebration omde. Everything had to go perfectly for the Vikings to score twice and win and they did. That game still burns my ass, although the 41-0 trouncing in the 2000 NFCC takes the sting off.
I had to double take when I read the title of thread

I know he was not in shape but 67 is just smh. RIP coach.

Francesa is a must listen today for me. He and Green were close.
One of my favorites

The only thing that made me forget 1997 was 2002 being even more
Greg from LI : 7/22/2016 12:37 pm : link
of a complete collapse. 1997 was ugly - the fight on the sidelines (it was Sparks and who else? Can't remember), Maynard's shitty punt that gave the Vikings great field position on their TD drive to cut it to 22-20, Calloway muffing the onsides kick, Sparks getting called for PI to keep the drive going and, worst of all, it was goddamned Randall Cunningham doing it to them yet again.

Always respected him as a coach and a person. Coached some VERY good Viking teams (most notably the 15-1 team).
Holy shit! RIP Denny Green!

That press conference was the best post game sound byte of all time.
I thought he was much older than that.

It's actually not even the "PLAYOFFS?!" part of Mora's presser that I always found the funniest.. it's the part where he goes "...and in my opinion that SUCKED."

I don't know why, but that was always the part I really laughed at.

Speaking of Mora, he actually had a post game meltdown from when he was with the Saints that was also better than the playoffs rant in Indy.

I'm still pissed about that game. Even more so than the 2002 game. That game should have been in the bag. I thought Dennis Green fell out of a tree and landed on his feet, so to speak.

I love all of his meltdowns. I also really love his "You think you know but you have no idea" rant. Funny and true.

Yup, 1997 was far worse TO ME, than the 38-14 meltdown with about 18 minutes to go..'97 I was livid, 2002 I stared and stared and stared at the TV not realizing what I had just seen
Sad news

met him when he was at Northwestern
CMACDC : 7/23/2016 1:13 pm : link
I was teaching a summer high school class for journalists and he accepted my invitation to give his perspective about sportswriting. NU had some terrible teams under him, but he said he didn't mind criticism in print as long as it was based on writers' knowledge of the game. He was a great guy and total class act.
Nooooo
