Wasn't Wonder Woman set in the WWII era? That film looked to be during WWI, at least at points.
Wonder Woman debuted in 1941, and like other comic book heroes at that time - Captain America, Spy Smasher, The Star Spangled Kid, etc. - she "made her bones" fighting the Axis powers.
In Dawn of Justice, they broke with tradition and established that she'd been around since at least World War I, and that's now been confirmed in the trailer for her upcoming movie. Why did they do this? I don't know, but my guess is that they just wanted to make her more "timeless," as an immortal...something like that.
And Gal is absolutely beautiful
