Big game for Matz

losing to guys like Fernandez is going to happen, need to start winning the games we have decided advantage. Take this series, get going on this pre-deadline homestand, and add some reinforcements.
Just win this

Eric on Li : 7/24/2016 1:52 pm : link
we've seen that he's still got his arm and that was a vintage triple, even though he's not nearly as fast as he used to be. He can play all over the IF, might eventually play some CF, while probably posting a .700+ OPS at leadoff. I'd be very willing to wager he's still a better offensive player than Denard Spann, with more defensive versatility, and instead of costing $31M, we have him at the minimum.
Yes

The Mets should unload Grandy in the offseason. I dont see him playing any better next year

Just depends how he adjusts to the 2 hole the rest of the season. Last year he was our most consistent player all year and our 2nd best player in the postseason, by a good margin. He's had really bad luck this year with balls in play (40 points below last year and his career average) and he's still had a decent season. 1 year / 15M isn't prohibitive if he's producing, if he's not then it would make sense to re-allocate the resources towards Cespedes.
Crazy to put the go ahead
Metnut : 7/24/2016 2:34 pm : link
run on 2B, but I'd walk Stanton here. Guy is absolutely shredding us recently.
Nice pitch
Metnut : 7/24/2016 2:34 pm : link
at 2-0 really fooled Stanton. Nice play by Cabrera to get the out. LGM
nice job Matz

we really needed a stopper. Now lets get some insurance solo homers!
Robles is turning into a star
ZGiants98 : 7/24/2016 3:16 pm : link
right before our eyes. I had a feeling he would blossom this year (as did Familia going into his second year).

Hell of a job by Matz today. No offense but Matz stepped up. Can Reed and Familia shut the door?

I honestly think Ces isn't close to 100%. He looks banged up.

Nice job.

Man. 2-3 from the Marlins in Miami and only losing the Fernandez game is fine by me.
Loney strikes again!

Two best things about today
ZGiants98 : 7/24/2016 3:31 pm : link
Is Matz and Conforto re-establishing themselves. Conforto even looked decent in CF.
Can Cabrera finally get a hit

RBI #32 for Mr Cabrera
Well that sucks.
ZGiants98 : 7/24/2016 3:37 pm : link
Cabrera fails us again. Probably the biggest culprit for our hitting in scoring position woes this year. Too bad. Bat that fucker 8th Terry where he belongs!

I wonder if whichever reliever we bring in
ZGiants98 : 7/24/2016 3:41 pm : link
Is even going to have a big role on this team? I highly doubt whoever we bring in is better than Reed or Robles. Blevins is an excellent LOOGY. Even if Bastardo has struggled this year his numbers against lefties are amazing. He would make a good second LOOGY if we decided to only use him in that role. We seem pretty well covered. I guess a vet like Joe Smith would give the pen another look.
at least we got 2 huge insurance runs

hopefully it ll be enough for Reed & Familia

Easy on the .500 team. We are 7 games over and this is our toughest stretch of the season. For all the shit the Mets get, I think people forget that.

We need someone to replace Lugo and maybe Goeddel. Hows Edgin doing in AAA?
Absolutely crucial

series against St. Louis coming up. There's going to be a ton of emotion and sellout crowds at Citi Field this weekend. Coming into the weekend with some momentum can really help springboard things.

I like Goeddel as the 6th or 7th option. I agree about Lugo but Henderson should be back soon. Also, we probably need a long man. I'd almost like Gilmartin up in that role. Edgin has been pitching well but his velocity is down. He's also more a LOOGY. If we want a full inning crossover guy I'd like to see either Smoker or Sewald. Plenty of options though. Also if we acquired a Cashner, it would push Verrett back to the pen.
Just walk Stanton

You have the damn base open. Puts a force on as well.
