nuclear secret.

Ozersk, codenamed City 40, was the birthplace of the Soviet nuclear weapons programme. Now it is one of the most contaminated places on the planet – so why do so many residents still view it as a fenced-in paradise?

I stumbled across this. I thought it was fascinating, so I figured I'd share with BBI. It's amazing what's out there that most folks don't know about.

People willing to swap their health, their children's health in order to live in a "nice" place.

The worst part is the ongoing dumping into lakes of Plutonium. They are still actually dumping huge amounts of nuclear waste into the Arctic ocean!

Fuck the Russians and their secrets.
Shouldn't that be a violation of

International law? I wish a reporter would ask Putin about it during one of his interviews.

I remember going to Greece after Chernobyl and we had to use powdered milk even there due to the fallout. These fuckers dumping stuff into the Arctic is even worse.

Russia isn't exactly showering itself in glory lately

The Guardian no longer has a reputation for responsible fact checking. Lots of "said to have..." and "authorities deny...". What does looking at a few gravestones prove?

This article will not establish how much of a tragedy this is. I would like to see evidence that it is worse than Three Mile Island (for comparison purposes only, since we don't have much else to compare it to). And no, I care one way or another who's winning a propaganda battle. I'm just interested thats all.

Well, considering that a linked article in the original states that the Russian government conceded in the late 80's that there were 2 nuclear accidents and there had been long term dumping of radioactive waste into rivers I don't see how the two are remotely comparable.
