NFT: Guns N Roses at MetLife

Danny Kanell : 7/24/2016 3:51 pm
Anyone go last night or are going tonight? Last night have been the greatest show I've ever been to, and that includes some great ones I've been to.

Incredible how this band just came together to put a show like this on after all these years.

Side note: MetLife was a great place for a show. Sound was amazing. It was my first concert there. Pleasantly surprised. We were in the upper deck too.

It was awesome. I wasn't expecting that.
Saw them at Gillette

last week, haters can hate all they want, show was excellent.

No izzy. No Adler. Only Axl, Slash and Duff.

Adler has played a couple dates, but isn't part of it, I don't think Izzy has been part of it at all.

Previously I felt like Axl "made" Guns n' Roses but they played a couple Chinese Democracy songs and they were incredible with Slash. I think the whole band was really what made them what they were. I'd like to hear them redo Chinese Democracy with Slash.

I was there

and it was the best show I have ever been to and it's not even close. Axl was on point and looked like he was genuinely having a good time out there. Slash was shredding like a madman. There was an overall excellent energy from the band. It was everything I expected and then some. I have heard great reviews from other shows on the tour, and can't say I can even find one flaw. The only time where I felt Axl had some trouble was at the end of Coma, but that's a difficult song to sing when you're driving in the car, nevermind running around like a crazy person on stage for almost 3 hours. I can't say enough positives about this show. I waited 25 years to see this group back together, and they absolutely did not disappoint.

This is dead on, in my opinion. I felt "Better" was one of their best performances of the night.
It was great

No Adler cause he is fried Frankie F is 100% a better drummer and it's not even up for discussion. Izzy would have been great but he chose not to. Richard Fortress is a great replacement. Axl still has it and the place was sold out. They gave everyone a great show. Axl has stepped up his game with ACDC and the gunners. His screams were reminissant of the glory days.
Glad to hear that they kicked ass

I remember seeing them at Giants Stadium in 1992(?) summer with Mettalica. Time sure flies.
I thought the show got better as it went on last night.

I was only surprised at the fact that they didn't play My Michelle. Other than that I couldn't have asked for a better show.

they played it one of the two Gillette shows, not sure how they plan the set list from show to show, seems like they have a few songs that vary each show.

I mentioned My Michelle because that seemed to be a staple for Axl when he was by himself. I saw him a few times and he would have Sebastian Bach come out and sing that song with him. That is the only reason.
How were the vocals?
EricJ : 7/24/2016 8:29 pm : link
when he was solo, he could not sing a note to save his life....like David Lee Roth

I can pretty much echo this entire post. Including the waiting 25 years part.

My friend's brother had 2 extra tickets for us to the 92 show with Metallica and Faith no More. My mom wouldn't let me go. I was 14. She's off the hook now :)
I went last night

and I thought it was a great show. Stadium shows can sometimes suck but the overall production last night was top notch. There was a little bit of filler (I can do without the Layla and Wish You Were Here instrumentals) but I guess that's to be expected for a show that runs 2:45. Axl sounded great. But to me, the attraction was seeing Slash go crazy on a ton of solos in a stadium. He was unbelievable. The set list was good, although I would have preferred Don't Cry instead of Patience (I'm assuming tonight's crowd will get Don't Cry).

Bottom line: if you were a fan of GnR during the late 80s/early 90s this tour is a must see. I wish I was going again tonight.

I also think the instramentals
Carl in CT : 7/25/2016 6:37 am : link
were a little longer than usual (seen a foxboro show) but it probably had to do with the heat. Axl probably need a few more breaks.

I agree. I went to the Saturday show and the sweat was pouring off of his arm like a faucet. He changed his shirt like 10 times and I don't blame him. It was in the 80s at night and had to be hotter with the lights and fireworks going. It was over 100 all day.
I went saturday, sat in upper level section 328
EJV79 : 7/25/2016 9:42 am : link
It was fucking insane. I saw them at fedex field a few weeks ago and i think this show was better than that one.
I think the extended breaks/ instrumentals are for Axel

Philly was great although I dont love stadium shows. too detached. Slash is ridiculous
I have to admit
pjcas18 : 7/25/2016 9:52 am : link
even as one of the biggest GnR fans on here I felt like this would be a little bit of a money grab. I mean none of the band has had a ton of commercial success since the 90's, I won't pretend to know how much any of them made, but I also believe they probably got used to certain lifestyle pretty quickly.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised, such a good show.

I'd go again if they toured again. I'd also listen to new music if they decide to do that though I think it's probably unlikely they keep it together that long.
was never a huge GNR fan
santacruzom : 7/25/2016 1:21 pm : link
But I've never disliked them either, and I dig Slash's style. I'd pay to see them based on the reviews I'm hearing.

I have had similar thoughts go through my head about them recording new stuff and touring again at some point, and I hope these things come true, but seriously doubt either. It would be great if they could salvage the last 5-10 years of their "youth" and make this work, but I can't see it happening.
Went

Saturday night. They were in top form. Sounded great. Saw them several times in the 80's and 90's. Also saw them with only Axl and this was as good as ever.
