Good morning everyone, just wondering if anyone has been able to get the package for the free yet for the upcoming season? I know there are a few posters on here that give good pointers on this. Thanks in advanced, go Giants!
Stan in LA :
What entitles you to think you should get it for free? It's like going into a 7/11 and taking stuff off the shelf and walking out. It boggles my mind.
By signing up for directv chicken package and above, the NFL Sunday ticket is free for the first year. That also qualifies you for the ATG unlimited data plan as well. What's a good day to send a tech out so we can get you started ?
Best way to do it, if your contract has expired, actually cancel your DirectTV service. Wait a few days and sign up again as a new customer. Sunday Ticket is included in first year for all new customers.

That's awesome! Stealing something is a great analogy for accepting something offered for free.
so I really had no leg to stand on but I tried calling customer service and seeing if they would give me some sort of discount for Sunday Ticket. I initially tried to be coy and suggest that I don't really watch cable and only signed up with Directv for Sunday Ticket and if they gave that to me again for free I'd stay as a customer, but they weren't going for that. They basically said "ok bye' and informed me of the fees I'd incur for breaking my contract. I finally just settled for them taking about $10 off my bill. Out of curiosity, I've read up on how people have been negotiating getting Sunday Ticket for free and the general consensus I got was that after being acquired by AT&T, Directv doesn't go for the threats of cancellation anymore.

and I did cancel -- Directv has become way too expensive -- and the NFL package is just not enough for me in the Northeast -- I only use it to watch the Giants
we use Dish now - and their service is surprisingly good - if anyone wants to try Dish I have discount coupons for them

You have to speak with retention. Customer service doesn't have any way of giving you any new promotions but retention can.
With that said only way you really have a chance of getting Sunday ticket for free is being a new customer. And it's only free for the first year.
The good thing for anyone who is a new customer is the guaranteed two year pricing.
well sort of. I have minimal DTV service, the lowest level you can possibly have (I have FiOS in my house for TV) and I have my service "on vacation" with them since January which means my monthly bill is $0. I will call the beginning of September, right around opening day and reactivate my service and see if I can get ST for a discount.
last year I got it free, no clue about this year, but even if I don't it's still worth it to me.

I'm sorry I meant that I did speak to retention but since I'm under contract I really had no leverage in the matter.
AT&T is putting an end to getting Sunday Ticket for free

It is for NEW CUSTOMERS, not returning ones. Unless you sign up with a different name, and method of payment, you will be flagged. I've had two friends try this and be denied. Your best bet is to call up and say you are going to cancel. Ask for customer retention in the menu. Tell them that you're pissed new people get the ticket for free and you are pulling the plug. They will work some sort of a deal out of it.
No success since I signed up. However I have had issues with service each year and received a discount for the ticket. The free ticket pass is long gone unfortunately unless you are a new customer.
but I'm moving on Thursday and set up the installation.
When we were working that out, they offered my HBO, Skinamax and Starz free for 3 months. I told them to keep that bundle, but give me the Ticket for free. We settled on $99.
Only downside is that a 2AM self-pleasuring moment will have to be done via online porn instead of to the soft-core Cinemax specials.....

I've been a subscriber for 10 years and thought I could weasel an early deal. No dice, but I've been down this road before. In a couple of weeks I'll call back and see if I can do better than $259 for the regular package ($359 for the Max package). I can usually get $120 off and the free Max...
With AT&T taking over and first year overseeing everything we will see. I know for a fact technicians are very unhappy with the change and the service even they receive to date.
So that trickles down to the customer as well. Just need to play you cards right to get a good deal.

I was hoping the chicken package was real, it sounds delicious.
Yesterday I was thinking if someone was going to start a thread with there experience in getting the ticket. I haven't called yet. Doesn't seem like they are giving out deals this year.last year I had to call 3 times. No discount on the ticket. But, was given 20 bucks off for 1 year. Pretty much got it for free.
I called 1-800-288-2020, talked to Sara from the Arizona office. I told them that the price is just too high, been with you guys for 12 years, get Sunday ticket, extra innings, and center ice and its all getting to be too pricey, She then offered me 50 dollars off my bill for the next 12 months, I accepted that of coarse. Good Luck, I'll hang around if needed.
You call that number ask for customer retention, I did then that was when Sara told me not to worry that she can take care of whatever problem I may be having. So she was Customer Retention, would have to be to offer me that.

Paul, that a little over $4/month off your bill..No way they'll give you $50/month off your bill as that would total $600 or the approximate price of TWO ST subscriptions..😜
I know a few people who agreed to a deal on the phone, that extended their service contracts. Then checked their next couple of bills and didn't receive all the discounts that they were supposed to get.

I can vouch for this, just got off the phone with Jenn from the Boise office. Offered me this same deal. She said it was a "round about" way to getting the package for free. They could not officially give away the Sunday Ticket anymore but giving me $50 bucks off my bill every month for the next 12 months covered the fee and then some. One year contract though.

That's what happened to me last year. It seems like a book keeping thing.

Thanks. I didn't think they would do that per month..Should have trusted my friend Paul..Sorry, bud..😎
I'm glad you followed up, that is a nice deal, and I'm happy you also got it.
Paul, I didn't..After nearly 20 years of the ST, I gave it up last year. Football, outside the Giants has become meh to me with all the rule changes(even if for the better)..I never needed ST as I was grandfathered into getting the national channels on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox for LA and NY markets given no cable in my area. I sought and received waivers from each outlet..So, I always got every Giants game anyway. I had ST just because I loved watching the NFL. No more..
So, my regimen is now, Listen to the game on Radio(Sirius) with Papa and later on watch it either in full or via abridged versions WITHOUT COMMERCIALS on NFL game pass which to me, absolutely rocks!
I don't blame you a bit, the game has changed and not for the better. I am out of market and I never got a deal like you have so I am stuck for now. Once internet TV gets a little better I will get a better provider and get a max speed plan and then I am going to change everything.
As long as I continue to get a good deal on Sunday Ticket, I am OK with this. I have both my daughter's here and thank God we still have the Sunday get togethers with the game on. We all watched the last two Superbowls here so the tradition continues.
It started in Jersey City with my Dad, my brothers, my sister and myself. We all got married and had families and moved in the Toms River area, and the tradition continued there, my Dad died, my job moved, my Mom moved to Seattle with my sister after my Dad died and my daughter's are now married and we have continued the tradition. Unreal how the giant tradition has been so strong within families.
Yup. Back in the day, women were not as into football
as they are today. Or, at least we were unaware that they might have been..So as I've said many times(echoed by many others), it was about Dad..The Giants were considered members of our family. I think this gets lost on many present generationers..
I noticed the package they gave me was the standard one w/out the redzone channel (which I love when the Gmen aren't playing). So I got greedy and called them back to see if I could get an upgrade to the MAX package, they gave me another $20 monthly credit to my bill for 12 months. So total of $70 off a month for 12 months plus the movie packages at a discount for 6 months. This is why I love DirecTV, seems (to me at least) they value their customers.

I got ST ticket last year for $260 per log in (don't buy it for PS4, its unwatchable there, only works on xbox one).
still no word on 2016 pricing.

Could run you anywhere from $5 to $25 from what I've heard.
Basically you are using someone's Sunday ticket max code.
Of course, this is all highly illegal so use caution if you choose to go that route.

The trick for me the last 2 years is the 'cutting the cord threat'. That seemed to get their attention.
