Ok, so I have a friend who considers himself like the ultimate guy’s guy. He idolizes the alpha male persona, and says so much politically incorrect sh*t just to purposefully piss me off. We have sort of friendly political banter back and forth most days. It’s really just in good fun, and we both in the past have acknowledged this. So I get into a debate with him on facebook, and I am egging him on to take my bet that HRC will beat Donald Trump in the election. I wager $3k, because he continues to be adamant that trump will win, so I tell him to put his m oney where his mouth is. Anyway, he doesn’t take the bet, and he starts responding with stupid potty language shit when I call him out for being a ****, so he goes on and tells me to “go blow some dudes”. Anyway, my friend (who is a woman and is a bit crazy) notices the debate calls him out for that comment (Because she just came out as bisexual) and she gets on his case. This really to me just seems like a silly facebook political argument that really is just meant to be funny. So this guy calls my friend a lesbian, and I share this with her. And she confronts him about it. Again, she gets mad at him in a “toung-in-cheek” way. Sending him a picture of her with a dude.
Anyway, this guy texts me later in the night and says I broke guy code and that we’re no longer friends. I figure that he’s just blowing off some steam or whatever. But he refuses to talk with me over this. I think it’s the stupidest thing in the world since this is a random girl who he never has and never will speak to him. But he just keeps on repeating that I broke guy code. Now, I know what guy code is generally, I always thought it related to stuff like ‘not sleeping with your friends sister’ or don’t fuck with a friend who has a shot at a girl at a bar. This was just some stupid political debate nonsense. So, I don’t get what my friends deal is. Did I break some unwritten rule and am I deserving of his anger?
Ask about moron code.
This.
LOL, yeah and then they have to decide whether to basically admit it by deleting or ride it out.
This
Especially with differing ways of processing information right in front of you.....
Fixed it.
I'm betting it's the same guy :)
Holy shit, pay attention
As far as guy code goes. A conversation over a beer sounds much better than a text. My humble opinion, the both of you broke guy code in this situation.
I'm not positive but I don't believe so. My niece is a lesbian and she had referred to other girls as lesbians.
Facebook? Messaging? Pfffft.
The idea of guy code is pretty stupid and sexist. So you should be loyal to some people of the same sex over others? The bonds of trust / friendship and moral justice shouldn't be dictated by oversimplified rules and platitudes anyway. For now i'd just think about how you can perhaps rise above discussions that involve figurative dick measuring competitions and allusions to actual dick sucking as a means of insulting someone
Ugh, you're such a Bill L
Agreed.
Guy code if such a thing exists wouldn't have any reference to Facebook, betting 3 grand on an election (super douche) or being the middle man in an argument...
