Yankees caught Baltimore and San Fran at the right time but are running into a buzz saw against Houston this series, Astros are the hottest team in baseball, if the Yankees can win the series I will be impressed
I want to sell but these jack asses Hal Hank and Levine think they can still make the playoffs they are a bunch of clueles fools just sell and get talent back here we already did earlier today. Keep it coming this team is going nowhere
Mostly because the pitching struggled enormously - Severino, Pineda, Eovaldi were all terrible. Lately, theyve been getting some very good starts though. Pineda has a 3.30 ERA over his last 10 starts.
On May 5, they were 9-17. Since then, they have gone 42-31. Not quite red hot, but not bad.
They should still be sellers, but it was kind of ridiculous the way people were acting as if they were the baseball version of the Knicks.
Personally I just want to see about few more trades Â
but that's who he's always been: A talented tease. Pineda also a tease. The thing is, these guys aren't kids anymore, Eovaldi 26, Pineda is 27, each in the bigs since 2011. How long do you wait? You don't give them away, but if somebody desperate for pitching makes a silly offer, you hit it.
earlier this year. The stuff has always been there - his luck was off the charts bad for the first 2+ months, especially with two outs in an inning. Unfortunately, the front office has more patience than the fans, and now we're seeing those luck factors revert to the mean.
I don't think Yankees or even Red Sox fans fully appreciate how tough it is as a young pitcher to learn how to pitch in the AL East. The Orioles learned the hard way with Arrieta, and almost repeated that mistake with Tillman too.
Eovaldi has such raw stuff and has put it together for stretches. Someone - maybe Larry Rothschild, maybe someone else - is going to turn him into a Cy Young winner. Pineda and Nova have also looked very good for stretches, and like dumpster fires for other stretches. CC had one of the best months of his career but has been pedestrian the last few times out.
If we sell, I hope they hang onto Eovaldi.
looking at his splits, Eovaldi's been all over the place Â
Yep Greg last year they had a feature in the pre-game on YES one game in Houston how what a thrill it was for him to win a game in Houston the night before with Ryan in attendance. They showed him meeting him and the 2 of them talking by the cage before the game the day after.
Have to lose this series and the next for that to happen

Too late..
Almost..
Severe drop in defense. About a wash, maybe slight upgrade in offense.
narrowly misses a grand slam, but he's out of it ....
He is just messed up.
... and it works!
ESPN giving Yanks kudos on getting Torres..

ill be glad when pineda is fucking gone.
Comments like that on a night when he pitches a fantastic game. It is like people throwing Eovaldi to the wolves too.
It isn't like the Yanks are the Padres or some bottom dwelling team, yet they are treated like such.

You're probably right. I remember him having a great stretch in May, don't remember April. I'm old :-)

I think Eovaldi had 3 or 4 terrible starts early on during that awful start, then had a stretch of very good starts before hitting the skids again.

He wasn't good his first three starts of the year but then took s no hitter into the 7th against Texas at the end of April
If we sell, I hope they hang onto Eovaldi.
Next five starts: 2.03 ERA, 23 H in 31 innings, 2 homers
Next five starts: 8.65 ERA, 38 H In 26 innings, 10 homers
Last six appearances (3 starts, 3 relief): 3.38 ERA, 21 H in 24 IP, 2 homers
Will the real Nathan Eovaldi please stand up?
