I love how the article considers Josh Norman ...
Boy Cord : 7/26/2016 1:38 pm : link
... serving as a character reference a good thing.

Listened to a Bram Weinstein driving out to lunch. He made a great point about Cousins. Every game, good, bad or indifferent, Cousins is going to be peppered with questions about 2017. This is going to be so damn fun.

I'm tired of DC considering Galette such a big loss. He never played a down for them and they picked him up off of the scrap heap when no other NFL team would touch him. He must have been one bad apple in NO. He signed a mid five-figure deal and took home a lot in guarantees, and NO still couldn't get rid of him fast enough following 22 sacks in two seasons. Damn. Tom Benson wouldn't do that to his children. Oh, wait.

Cousins 2017 questions being constant is going to be overrated.

It will be a potentially big story when the time comes, but I see that talk getting shot down early in the year.

At the end of the day, Cousins was very comfortable taking the franchise tag and he will be comfortable to take it next year as well. A big reason why the negotiations never got anywhere.

Well the team he left went to the SB and the next team that signed him was terrible on defense all year while he caused fights in the locker room and sidelines.

I don't care about his talent. We've been hearing about it for years and its rarely seen. He's proven time and time again he has a destructive personality, its the only thing he's good at.

let him go play somewhere else K

He's all of the sudden going to be sane and helpful and not a total distraction? Come on man, he is who he is, wherever he goes, he will wreach havoc in the locker room, piss off other players on his team and alienate himself and anyone who backs him.
Wasn't Hardy..
FatMan in Charlotte : 7/26/2016 2:17 pm : link
going to turn things around and lead the Cowboys to the SB?

The vast majority of players don't suddenly turn themselves around after being in the league a while. And guys like Hardy have about a 1% historical rate of doing so. He hasn't even apologized yet for what happened.
I hope you guys are right about that
gidiefor : Mod : 7/26/2016 2:19 pm : link
but I'm paranoid about any edge the skins could get -- that's a very different regime now than it's been in the past - their GM actually knows what he's doing

And the counter argument would be that he would potentially be taking a roster spot (and starting spot) from a guy who'd work harder and be a better teammate, ultimately helping the Skins for not only 2016 but beyond.

The guy is a clown and IMO shouldn't even be in the league.
Send him to Cleveland or the Bills
Bluesbreaker : 7/26/2016 2:21 pm : link
anywhere but the NFC East when he's on he doesn't just get
sacks he wants to hurt people degenerate maniac that
should be banned from football but with the Fucking Puke
Goodwill you never know ...
Funny that their GM..
FatMan in Charlotte : 7/26/2016 2:24 pm : link
has gotten praise simply because he isn't as much of a disaster as previous guys. When he doles out $$$ for Norman people praise the move, even though Norman was benched and ineffective when he played in a man scheme. Meanwhile, Reese took shit for signing Jenkins.

It is always a grass is greener outlook, and there's no better example of that with Hardy. The guy is a mental case who shouldn't see the field again. Proved it in Carolina and Dallas. Hell, pair him with Norman and you might see a complete implosion. There's a hell of a lot more bad that can come from signing Hardy than good.
He also recently visited the Jags ...
Beer Man : 7/26/2016 2:29 pm : link
With all of the new faces on the Jags that have to be brought together, I can't see the Jags risk adding issues that they don't need right now.

You obviously have no knowledge or experience with DC sports media. They exist to create QB controversy. In this case the controversy isn't Sonny vs. Sam, Doug vs. Jay, Gus vs. Heath, or Griffin vs. Cousins. It's Cousins vs. whether he stays or goes and DC media will stoke the fire.

And Cousins will continue taking notes. He will have numerous suitors in 2017 and he won't forget how Griffin was put on a pedestal by management or how management wouldn't commit to him this offseason. He realized he held all of the leverage this offseason and holds all the leverage in 2017. He played his hand well and the smart ones in DC realize they don't control the fate of their starting QB. It's a risk DC's management took. Even if They make Cousins a massive offer next offseason he could still walk. DC fans should be on edge.
A number of Rumor sites are now reporting that

Thank you! This "Scot McCloughan is a genius" thing that's been simmering in the background for a while now has been really bizarre. He apparently rates an enormous amount of credibility simply because he's not Bruce Allen or Vinny Cerrato.

Thanks, I live in Maryland though and have pretty intimate knowledge of the media. My point is I think Cousins puts the talk to rest early and the media will have minimal ammo to work with. You've seen this on many free agents across sports. The ones that let speculation run amok - then the stories get huge. But some nip it in the bud right away and the stories are much quieter.

If I am a QB playing on the franchise tag, I would for sure be aiming some tosses into the stands rather than getting sacked by some 290# raging DL.

And I'm buying beers for all of you. When a Skins' season goes wrong after the usual high expectations, there's no better place to live as a Giants' fan. Needless to say, last year was not too much fun.

I was only pretending to be condescending.
Imho there is only one team who could take Hardy and make him succeed
Larry in Pencilvania : 7/26/2016 3:27 pm : link
The Patriots. They have a strong all powerful coach, a strong locker room and no fear in dumping any player. They have made head cases work many times over
if he had a chance anywhere

Good point, the Pats are the league's best team over the last 20 or so years.

DE Greg Hardy is clearly a head case with excuses and baggage. I mean, Dallas let him go for crying out loud! How good can he be in the locker room? He has pass rush talent, sure, but if he causes problems elsewhere how can you justify signing him? A winning team like the Patriots, well maybe they take a chance but I doubt it.
you're not just picking up the
bc4life : 7/26/2016 5:37 pm : link
locker room cancer thing, you have to deal with hiring a woman beater. lot of teams, if not most, can't stomach that

Uh, Greg Hardy on the same team as Tom Brady? After these comments?

"“I love seeing Tom Brady. He’s cool as crap,” Hardy said Tuesday, according to the Dallas Morning News. “You seen his wife? I hope she comes to the game. I hope her sister comes to the game. [I hope] all her friends come to the game.”

I think I have a better shot at making the Pats than Greg Hardy does.
