When it's all said and done he will likely have 5 Olympic Rings, 4 gold most likely. More then anyone.
Already regarded as one of the best scorers in history and has been considered one of the premiere scorers for over a decade now.
Has been a top 15 player for over a decade.
I'm pretty sure he has another 4-5 years of 20+ ppg ball In him, I think his skillset will allow him to age very gracefully. Don't see him just losing his whole offensive skillset even if he loses 2 steps.
When it's all said and done where will Melo stack up?
He's a sure thing as a HOFer IMO but that's obvious, how great will he be considered? If he wins a ring in NYC how much does that change his legacy?
I consider Carmelo extremely professional and classy all around. One of the best people in sports. Yes he huffs and puffs and rolls his eyes sometimes but IMO he's great and I love him.
Maybe Bosh, but but Bosh's career has been cut short due to a freak injury so he won't hold up statswise. But he has rings...
Zero chance Carmelo Anthony is better than Wade and while Paul hasn't sniffed a ring either, I'm taking the PG over him.
Wade>Melo
Melo>Bosh
without postseason success at the pro level, he will be known as a good scorer, but on a different level than the great ones of similar vintages who led their teams to a championship or multiple championships (Duncan, LeBron, Wade, Kobe, Dirk, Steph, etc)

Basically my take as well. He isn't close to being an all time great of his era.
Amare is an easy choice for the HOF for me. 2nd team all nba 4 times, first team 1 time. 6 time all star. When you consider guys like Bernard King, Mitch Richmond, Yao, Reggie, etc. are already in, Amare should eventually have no trouble getting in.
That's who I was thinking of as well.
Melo will make the HOF but he's a guy that wasn't seen as a top 10 player very often. He would hover in that 15 range and jumped up to top 5 the last Olympics/Knicks50+ win season. But that honestly was the only season where Melo was a 100% lock to be in the top 10. I'd say Peak Amare was better than Peak Melo.
But his college and Olympic career will always help his legacy.
