Trade P Lucas Harrell and ex-met P Dario Alvarez to the Rangers for 2013 1st round pick Travis Demeritte. Great trade for Atlanta IMO as they get a kid in high A who already has 25 homeruns this year.

For some teams that's a ----load of eggs to put in that sort of basket. For the Sox, with a lot of young position players at the MLB level, I don't think it's as big a consideration. Dealing Moncada or Benintendi would be a blow, but with what they have under team control for the next few years they'll bounce back. But for the Yankees that would be a very tough row to hoe, for precisely that reason. If his arm falls off, which it certainly could, you have nothing to show for the loss of half your farm system.

From what I've read, nobody wants Gallo at this point and the Rangers are actually "hiding him" in AAA so not to be exposed in the majors.

Eduardo Nunez was traded to the SF Giants for pitcher Adalberto Mejia. Nunez has been on fire this year, and was the Twins only All Star, hitting .296 with 12 homers, 47 RBI's and 26 steals.

Marlins have an agreement in place to acquire Padres pitcher Andrew Cashner. Marlins were rumored to be interested in Pineda.

the Marlins' top prospect. Thin system after graduations, but still a decent return for a rental and a starter in Rea who has not wowed in the early going.

There's no way the Brewers would accept a deal straight up for d' Arnaud. That's ridiculous. Maybe the Mets threw that out there to get talks going, but there's no way that could be their final offer.

D'Arnaud one for one for Lucroy? Is it April Fool's Day? D'Arnaud has barely played more games in 2015-16 as Lucroy has this year alone, and while Lucroy is an established star and two-time All-Star, he's less than three years older than d'Arnaud so it's not even as if Milwaukee would get significantly younger.

Lucroy is a free agent after 2017. D'arnaud is controlled through 2020. Mets would have to add to D'arnaud but those extra years are very very important, especially to small market teams.

he's an All Star with a full year to go and D'Arnaud has played 100+ games three times in his professional career, just once since 2011.

So please Sandy, dont overpay for 1.5 seasons of Lucroy

Supposedly that's an offer the Mets put on the table more than a month ago and every met writer/fan I've seen talk about it recently expects a significant 2nd piece added to the deal. I'd imagine the level of that 2nd (or 3rd) piece is why the Brewers have been scouting the Mets minors for a few weeks. Most expect Rosario/Conforto are off limits, are hoping it won't cost Smith now that he's breaking out, and accepting that if it's one of Cecchini/Herrera/Nimmo going the other way it's a deal you have to make because Lucroy is a big upgrade.

Also, the control argument goes both ways, yes it's huge that Lucroy is under control next year, but TDA has an extra 3 seasons beyond that and even with only 270 AB's last year he was the 6th most valuable catcher in baseball. Though he comes with injury risk, it's hard to envision finding a ready to play replacement better than that with the general weakness at the catcher position around baseball.

Brewers then lose the Walker contract, can give a Qualifying Offer, get a draft pick.

Mets get to give Herrara 2 months of MLB experience in prep for next year.

And play Herrera/Reyes at 2b and Flores/Reyes 3b.

He's a decent enough hitter, but a hacker who draws walks only at gunpoint, and not a lot of power. His offense isn't good enough to outweight his steel glove, and it's not enough to make him valuable as a DH. Honestly, he's best suited as an NL pinch hitter, a Manny Mota or Gates Brown type.
