Seems to me the one area of our defense where we don't have star talent is at LB, and a guy with a combination of great range and tackling ability would be the last piece needed on defense.
Honestly, he's a tackling machine and has great desire
be a enormous upgrade, and bring tremendous leadership to the D-unit. Would still need an upgrade at at least one of the other LB positions (possibly both)
I feel its been so long without a field general/game changer at the LB spot that we forget how they can impact a game.
With the changes we made this off-season, if lets say LK was a FA and we signed him to a mega-deal, I cant imagine this defense being ranked anywhere below the top 3-5

I love your optimism! I just don't think we have enough in the back 7 and depth to be sure we could be top 5 even with Kuechly added. He is a run stuffer as can keep the QB from running cause he is big & fast. You need that in today's NFL. Improving a defense 5 spots with one guy is HUGE. Just HUGE so I'll stick with my assessment.
Add a three-time 1st team All-Pro...three-time Pro Bowler...Two-time DPOY...Butkus Award winner...to our defense. How good would it be? I'd say pretty f'ing good.
I'd still rather have Vonn Miller, which we probably could have made happen this off-season.
Von Miller is a great player and he single-handedly beat Carolina up and got Denver a SB trophy. MVP for sure. Reminded me of Tuck in 2007 and what an animal he was in that game sacking and pressuring Brady.
But V. Miller was still overpaid for the long haul. But we also overpaid for our big three UFA's as well because we had to overpay. Denver had no choice really.
I would not be surprised if Denver ended up 9-7 and out of the playoffs this year, V. Miller or not.
As for Kuechly, I was just wondering where the defense's biggest weakness was, and decided it was LB and depth at DE. Barring injuries I'd love it if a top prospect 4-3 LB was available to us in the first round next year. That kind of talent at LB would sure boost our defense.

I have us pegged at 10 - 15 range in terms of yards and points allowed. I think we have a top 4 overall DL and that is the key to the defense.
Adding him would make me think top 10 range but not top 5.

Miller is 3-4 OLB. How would that best translate to a 4-3? WILL?
Do you think he'd make a bigger difference than Vernon?
As for him being overpaid, that's what we just did for lesser players. If you're going to overpay you might as well do it for the best.
Agreed.

We weren't getting him, no way, no how.
Agreed.

I wouldn't count on it.
The epitome of a LB ...
The safest bets, no doubt. I'd add OL if it proves to be a real Achilles heel this year.
