Hope he's ok. Nice haul of lobster, we caught a bunch today and have some on the grill now! (Edit: turned into a long post, lobsters have been eaten)
Anyway, here is my recent Sapp story: I met Warren at a fishing tournament a few months back. I heard he would be around so I planned on a pro Strahan comment, or asking why I didn't get to see him on NFL network anymore if I happened to see him. Something BBI would be proud of. Well I'm taking a quiet leak when this loud group comes into the bathroom. It's Sapp and some guys amazed to he talking to him. I give a heavy tip of my Giants hat, walk out and he nods and continues to bloviate.
2 days later he was presenting the awards at the awards dinner and we would be receiving a few from him. So, wearing my same Giants hat, I decided to just be classy and friendly and respectful. He was a nice and fun guy signing stuff and taking pictures with people, why should I be a jerk? First time up I thanked him, shook his hand and saw he wasn't wearing any of his rings and asked him excitedly "Man, where's the rings!?". He got defensive saying " I leave them at home, I gott'em, I gott'em though". Then the bankruptcy missing/pawned rings whole story came to mind and I felt terrible but came out with a supportive "Yea man I get it, no jewels just regular." :)
The rest of the night we joked about the Giants and the U. His eyes got real big when I asked what he thought of Flowers. Said he was a beast and has heard some nasty stories. He said he loves watching him and we will too.
Long story short for all the crap you hear he is a nice guy in person. Made me realize it must be a curse to be famous.
Hated him on TV, hated him on the field. Hated seeing him go in HOF especially first ballot NO WAY imo. But like I said it's different when you meet someone in real life. He has been doing charity stuff and appearences around town and always seemed nice. So I wish him the best, hopefully he is on a more positive path.
on that Showtime football show, you had to wonder, were those really his thoughts, or were they scripted? I mean, some of the stuff he said, you just had to shake your head when he said it.....
Maybe losing his job, and bankruptcy, have made him realize how he had taken things for granted......he is basically, surviving on his name now, and maybe trying to clean up that image...
But, can you imagine him on the Pyramid with Strahan? "I'll take sharks for 200, Stray!"

Those are sea bugs - I never eat that crap, and I don't know how anybody else does, segmented body, exoskeleton, bottom feeder. All you need to do is look up the word Anthropod.

I love mollusks though....bi-valves....mmm-mmm..because, after all, I do Love Clams Casino..but that's pretty much the extent of seafood that I eat.
The last Wednesday and Thursday in July is "Lobster mini season". The commercial boats start putting in their traps on Aug. 1st, so a few days before that recreational divers/snorklers get to catch them for those 2 days. And with the season being closed for 4 months before Mini Season there are lobster everywhere! Limits are caught pretty quick if you know what you're doing.... I have a feeling Sapp had his arm in a lobster hole and a small nurse shark bite him. Small but nasty gash, small mouth on the shark.
