Starting Monday I'll begin my next adventure as the new NFL Insider for @SNYtv. Stay tuned for many more details on that in the days ahead.
Stay tuned as I manufacture controversies from nothing

Lmao. NFL insider? I feel like he doesn't even have the pulse of the team he covers.

He did do a Q&A
T in NJ : 7/27/2016 9:57 pm : link
for those BBI members in attendance at Training Camp in Albany back in 2008(I think). Pat Traina was there too.
Can I unfollow

him on twitter now? I wonder who the new Giants beat writer for NYDN will be...
All the veterans, save Schwartz, are getting out of the newspapers.
Tom in NY : 7/27/2016 10:13 pm : link
It's pretty clear that the day of newspapers being the main source of news is all but over. Been coming for several years now.

The NY Times has a plan to be completely digital within 5 years, and I'm sure many of the others will follow suit.

Ask Jacobs again about throwing his helmet

Yup - and with so much more variety out there with respect to media, it's no longer necessary to rely on some of the same old mediocre hacks like at the Daily News anymore. Other writers are working harder and writing better stories
I can see going to TV, but SNY?
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 7/27/2016 10:22 pm : link
Is that actually a good career move - let me talk about the NFL on a channel known for the Mets with Chris Carlin and possibly Joe Benigno?

Him and Graziano both leaving this week, it's been a fantastic start to the season.
Oh no!

What ever will we do?
Ralph
MookGiants : 7/27/2016 11:48 pm : link
did what he was paid to do. It pissed me off sometimes, but if you look at the beat writers for the NYDN, they all have a common theme, being shit stirrers. I blame that on the paper more than I do the writers when basically all of them do it.
I always read the daily papers online.
shelovesnycsports : 7/28/2016 12:20 am : link
Him and Gary Myers seemed to not like Coughlin. He was very negative but still not a bad journalist. Good luck Ralph.
he's got a face for radio
Ned In Atlanta : 7/28/2016 2:35 am : link
but kudos to him for landing the SNY gig

Ralph was always a friend of BBI.He came to one of the gatherings when the giants were in Albany. No need to insult the man.I wish him well.
I'm sort of
Giantophile : 7/28/2016 6:38 am : link
surprised at all the vitriol. He was a solid beat guy for my entire adult life as a Giants fan. Sometimes he was frustrating, other times insightful. Never a bad journalist. I wish him well.

I disagree. He was OK at best. Every now and then he had something decent, but he also put out a lot of shit.
Worst Giants Beat Writer ever...
BamaBlue : 7/28/2016 7:43 am : link
Vacchiano has never broken any Giants news and is a fountain of punditry. For an "insider" his information is opinion only. His departure is good news for the Daily News...

Wishing the Ralphster well
gidiefor : Mod : 7/28/2016 8:02 am : link
he is better at his craft than many of you give him credit for - and he has a very keen mind

I have spent time on the golf course with him and respect the guy and his intellect enormously
The Daily News future is bleak
Hammer : 7/28/2016 8:05 am : link
I don't think they'll be around much longer.

Sad, but inevitable I guess...
Gidie...
BamaBlue : 7/28/2016 8:13 am : link
there are a lot of really nice people who are not good at their job. I hope he's a better golfer than he is a Giants beat writer...

Bama -- he has the ability to be a great reporter -- the Daily News requires that he writes a certain way
I like Ralph, I don't get some of the seething hatred here for him
Victor in CT : 7/28/2016 9:01 am : link
The Daily News has become a comic book. Very sad.
He did his job
Carson53 : 7/28/2016 9:06 am : link
there is only so much a beat writer can actually say.
The NYDN has other writers who lack more credibility,
than he did.
Good.
Big Blue '56 : 7/28/2016 9:26 am : link
Perhaps they'll get more of a reporter and less of a shit stirrer..
I'm not a fan of Ralph's
Larry in Pencilvania : 7/28/2016 11:16 am : link
I don't feel he ever added anything to the beat and he was terrible when it came the cap. He was also lucky that Brandon Jacobs didn't tear his face off. He has another beat writer to thank for that
Love Ralph
27 : 7/28/2016 1:35 pm : link
And wish him luck. Surprised to see so much hate for him here.

He is not in the same stratosphere as that prick Graziano. So glad he is far away from this team's coverage.
