Easiest way to get to the stadium without a car from NYC?

SicilianGMEN : 7/28/2016 10:05 am
I'm finally going to my first game at metlife stadium for the Eagles game on Nov 6...I'm planning to stay in a hotel in LIC for the weekend and was curious about the quickest and cheapest way to get to metlife on sunday morning for tailgating, etc? I assume the first idea would be to take PATH into hoboken but then what?

Thanks
I prefer the bus from Port Authority (near 42nd street)

as opposed the giant herd and train transfer at Seacaucus. Your guaranteed a seat.
here you go

Many people prefer the Port Authority Bus to NJ Transit trains out of Penn.

Mass transit right to the Stadium from Penn Station
Bus outta Port Authority.

I know the 161 runs up Rt 3 to 120/503.

That would probably work.

Public transport LEAVING the stadium is probably a bigger nightmare than getting in though.
Reading up on this bus

It seems the bus doesnt leave for the stadium until an hour before the game? If I'm meeting up with ppl to tailgate at 10am or so that wouldnt work huh?

Eh, I've never had a problem taking the bus back to Port Authority from the stadium with the exception of the long lines of people waiting to board.

I'm pretty sure it starts 2 hours before football games... 1 hour for other Meadowlands events. May be wrong on that. The bus ride itself only takes like 20 minutes
How about

Train isn't that bad

I took it. Sure, there are crowds but it works. I'd prefer the bus but if it means you are going to miss the tailgate, take the train.
Enjoy the entire event.
Can you tailgate
Doomster : 7/28/2016 10:27 am : link
at the back of the bus?
The bus starts 2.5 hours before gametime,
Mad Mike : 7/28/2016 10:28 am : link
so that wouldn't work for your timing, but the train is 3.5 hours before, and wouldn't be crowded that early.

Do they let you do that on the Patriots buses?
NJ Transit bus tailgating...

...bottle of Thunderbird in a brown paper bag during the ride.

Your welcome.
Bus is the best way to get there

First bus leaves 3:30 hours before kickoff...they don't post the times for the games until the week of, but I can speak from personal experience that I was on the first bus out at 9:30am for all the 1:00pm games.

Ignore the info about an hour before, that is just for concerts and non-game events.

Just abandoned it in the parking lot and take public transportation back.
Another vote for the bus.

WRT to the train, I don't mind the crowds, but it's the longest seven-mile trip in the history of rail travel. Kills my pre-game buzz.

The transfer at Secaucus is bad enough. What really gets to me is the Secaucus-to-MetLife leg. It's like the Jungle Cruise at Disney World: zig-zagging through a swamp at a snail's pace to create the illusion of long-distance travel when you're basically going nowhere. All they need are out-of-work actors telling corny jokes over the PA system.
Agree on bus

The Train

Is pretty bad. I've taken it many times from Hoboken (via Secaucus) to MetLife and it's a complete shitshow leaving, with absurd lines and absolute chaos. It is not so bad getting there, but it can be a very long walk depending on where you plan to tailgate (and a pain if you are carrying things to a friends tailgate). But that's not so bad-- The biggest gripe on the way there is the first train only starts a few hours before kickoff so at earliest, you can get to your tailgate around 11am. For those of us who like to get there much earlier than that it sucks-- so I usually Uber.
it may seem a little crazy
upstatenyg : 7/28/2016 2:02 pm : link
but also consider uber either from seacacus or even nyc.

my friends took the subway to 42nd and then walk directly out the to lincoln tunnel area and got an uber cheaply directly to stadium lot.

Bus is far better than the train

Someone on Reddit spoke about a beer van that leaves Beer Authority after a pregame? Kind of like a partybus type thing. Anyone ever taken that before?
