NFT: FF Picks Trade Advice

giantsfan44ab : 7/28/2016 12:21 pm
This is a 10 team ESPN standard scoring (non-PPR) league. Non dynasty, non keeper.

Here is the trade:

I trade my 1st, 5th, 9th and 13th for his 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 8th.

In terms of overall picks it's my 3, 50, 90, 130 for his 17, 24, 37, 77

Sorry if it's a bit confusing. I plugged the picks into football guys pick trade calculator and it said I should do the trade and I'm getting a 19% improvement in value. It's just the concept of my first round pick changing from Julio/Odell to something like Lamar Miller I can't wrap my head around. But in FF I believe diversifying your risk among many good players instead of a few great ones is the better way to go.

Any thoughts?

Plug in players based on ADP. Which would you rather?

Julio Jones, Jeremy Hill
for
Devonta Freeman, Brandon Marshall and Randall Cobb

I'm doing the trade.
Personally

I like it. Yes, it sucks to lose out on a stud like Julio/ODB. But if I'm reading this correctly, you would then have:

2 2nd round picks (trade and your own)
2 3rds
2 4ths

Just looking at the ADP around where his picks are, you're looking at:

17: Jordy/Freeman/Allen Robinson/Lacy
24: D Martin/A Cooper/Shady/Cooks/Marshall
37: CJ Anderson/Watkins/R Cobb/L Murray

Plus whoever is there at your picks in those subsequent rounds.

Looking at ADP, Jeremy Langford going in the late 40's would be a great pick, IMO. I love Langford and the Bears do too. Look at how Forte was used. He's got rd 1 talent and updside. The one thing he doesn't have is history.
You

would have 6 roster spots full of top 40 players. I think it's almost a no-brainer to go with that much quantity that early.
Probably makes sense for him too
pjcas18 : 7/28/2016 12:32 pm : link
he winds up with Beckham and Gurley which is a nice one two, but he doesn't pick again until 40 and then he has two 5th's.

So his top 5 would be something like:

Beckham (3)
Gurley (4)
Golden Tate (4th)
Jeremy Maclin/Michael Floyd (5th)
Ryan Mathews (5th)

I loved Langford last year, but all the reports out of Bears camp that I've seen are their rookie RB Jordan Howard is being talked up a lot as the power back, and KaDeem Carey could be a dark horse for touches. Fox said that he'll ride the hot hand.
I just don't see them giving the rookie enough touches.
Keith : 7/28/2016 12:37 pm : link
They had Forte and they force-fed Langford because they love him so much(also knowing Forte was an UFA who was leaving). I see him doing everything Forte did, he will be a workhorse, IMO.
Look at John Fox's history
robbieballs2003 : 7/28/2016 12:38 pm : link
He almost always goes with 2 backs. And it is something crazy like in all of his years as a HC there have only been 2 RBs to get more than 30 catches. They were Moreno and Forte last year. Regardless of PPR or non-PPR you still want your RBs getting as much touches/yards as possible.

Gase was the OC last year. He is not there anymore. It is hard to use last year as a measuring stick.
With Fitz back with the Jets
superspynyg : 7/28/2016 12:41 pm : link
is Marshall a lock as a top 7 wr in standard league?

1 Brown
2 OBJ
3 Jones
4 Hopkins
5 Green
6 Dez
7 Marshall???

Fitz loves Marshall. I think he is up there. I am not going to rank them but he could be a top 10 WR.
I was leaning towards yes

So this is great confirmation.

Does this trade dictate a certain strategy? I'm almost certainly going to miss out on the run on RBs unless Martin or Miller drops, especially since there's a RB fetish in my league. I would have the 16th and 17th picks. I think Marshall is a no brainier after Fitzy signed yesterday if he's still there. Do I "reach" for McCoy or Charles here?

Also I'm liking Cam with my 3rd rounder. Id be able to fill out all my RB/WR slots by the 5th round anyways. Cam scored 40 something more points than Brady last season which is nearly 3 points a game more. Throw in the fact Brady is suspended and Benjamin is coming back I think I'd break my usual QB streaming ways to secure far and away the best fantasy QB

Charles will most likely be gone by 17. You're looking more like Freeman/Lacy/Ingram maybe Martin IMO if you're inclined to go RB.

I don't think you're going to be in a position to get Charles..But boy you can load up on some nice #1 WR's with those two 2nd and 3rd round picks.

Guys like Cooks, Jordy Nelson (follow his status, but I think he bounces back in a major way), Marshall, Amari Cooper should all be in this wheelhouse, and all should be major target hogs. Even a Cobb around the 3rd round coming off a down year.

I'm a fan of McCoy personally. Got off to a slow start after tweaking his hammy (I know it's his red flag), but we all know his upside is a top 3 back. On a down year he gave you 900 rushing and 300 receiving yards while missing 4 games. He should be in the conversation too.

Had Charles like 27th but that can be an overreaction to latest injury concerns.

But going heavily RBs early scares me In general. Hasn't really worked for me. I could potentially get Marshall, Nelson, cooper and cam with my first 4 picks and then latavious and Ryan Matthews with my 4th rounders.

Also why is Larry fitz projected to go like 6th round?

beatrixkiddo : 7/28/2016 3:39 pm : link
how do you think AJ Green will do this year. Eifert is dinged up, no Marvin Jones or Sanu. I think he will get a ton of targets, but how effective? I'm leaning towards him with my first pick to pair with my keeper of either Jordy/Benjamin/ or Reed.

Green will benefit from less guys around him. He's a special player and can handle doubles. If he stays healthy he has the potential to put up top 5 WR numbers, IMO.

Of those keepers it has to be Benjamin. Couldn't risk it with Reed, and who knows what you get with Jordy's knee (he's also 31).
Benjamin is a year removed from an ACL
beatrixkiddo : 7/28/2016 4:42 pm : link
As well. Although I think you may be right and take youth over Nelson. Nelson makes tha offense go though. With him everything works, without him you have what happened last year. Reed is solid too, although always misses games here and there. He is Cousins favorite target.
