NFT: Another water park thread - Action Park vs Hurricane Harbor

jcn56 : 7/28/2016 9:36 pm
My sons ages 7 and 12 want to hit up a water park tomorrow and I'm trying to figure out which they might enjoy more.

Per Yelp, Mountain Creek (Action Park) seems to get better reviews for cleanliness and rides, but in looking at the sites it seems that Hurricane Harbor might be bigger and have more variety.

I haven't been to Action Park in decades (and that's a good thing, at least for the skin that was grafted the first time around). I'm guessing it's nothing like the old park, so I have no baseline.

Anyone been to both and have an opinion to share? While personally hating the shit out of these types of germfests, that's what they want to do. I want to be sure they have fun, but also want to keep the 7 year old occupied.

Can't really speak to Hurricane Harbor, but I took my 16 year old daughter and some of her friends to Action Park last Friday. Some thoughts:

1. Much safer than what I recall in the 80s.
2. Lot of walking up hills since the rides are on mountains.
3. Very clean.
4. Food in the park blows but you have no choice since you can't bring food in (only water).
5. Definitely bring swimming shoes because walking barefoot on the walkways will hurt like hell if its sunny. Seriously.
6. Buy tickets online...I was surprised at the cost. You also get free parking with a purchase online.
7. Make sure both of your kids meet the height requirement. I think it was 48".

8. Don't die!
Thanks John!

I read reviews for both online, and Action Park's seem much more favorable than Hurricane Harbor. That said, my older son is pretty set on going to the latter, for what reason I still don't know. Good to hear that it's at least clean, that's my #1 (and #2,#3,#4) objection to going to these parks.
