I got some good lessons on US history this week.
I learned that Hamilton wrote the Federal Reserve Act and basically screwed this nation from the start, but since some Puerto Rican wrote a musical about him, he's now the greatest member of our finding fathers.
I also learned that we should always judge those in the past based on our current values and standards, and if they don't meet them, then they're just bunch of racist assholes.
Why didn't my AP US History teach teach these things?!?
No offense intended Ronnie - and it's not your fault - this thread attracts the foment
Anyway....I suppose if there's a personal interest, as was the case for you, but in general I'd rather watch tree sloths racing.
and I learned that there are Americans that think the Presidential election is not important enough to watch the real arguments of the Presidential candidates which each convention is presumably a thought out version of
You want to see the way your presidential candidate thinks and the people they surround themselves with -- you watch the convention -- I found both to be very illuminating this year

You want to know something about presidential candidates? Look at their actions rather than listening to the words someone else wrote for them in a carefully scripted and choreographed dog and pony show. And this year, in any case, features two vile human beings who have been in the public eye long enough to know plenty about just how rotten they are.
you may call it PR -- I call it watching exactly how philosophically an administration would work, what's on their minds, and what their arguments are
to me that's important
I learned that Ronnie has friends. Need sources on that, though.

Not a big deal since this is just to pass the time on Friday when most of us are just thinking about the weekend.
At least no one has mentioned specific names.

I never said she reciprocates my friendship, duh! I have no friends. I'm an island, Brett, an island of lonely despair.

could live up to the kind of lofty standards I require in a friend. So far, all examined have been found wanting.
So you're saying they all came up............. short?

and also -- if you are examining the candidates through the lens of history -- you are still examining them through the bullshit lens of whoever's perspective you are listening to
you don't have to want to be informed, but you opt to become a passive aggressive victim if you aren't
exactly how do you get to look at exactly what they've done Greg?
There is and they may make the 15% needed for the debates

there needs to be a mainstream, national voice for a 3rd party. Its absolutely comical that this is what we get to pick from.

I know, but something tells me he falls just short, which is a shame. There shouldn't be a restriction, a 3rd party voice should be automatic. It makes zero sense.
Brett.
UConn - From RCP, in polls from the past week, CBS had Johnson at 11%, CNN at 9%, YouGov at 5%.

Wait...is it now ok to name candidates as long as they're not the big two? Because if it isn't, you just doomed this thread, Greg. Nice job, fucker.
"The Face first grows lank and wrinkled; then the Neck; then the Breast and Arms; the lower Parts continuing to the last as plump as ever: So that covering all above with a Basket, and regarding only what is below the Girdle, it is impossible of two Women to know an old from a young one. And as in the dark all Cats are grey, the Pleasure of corporal Enjoyment with an old Woman is at least equal, and frequently superior, every Knack being by Practice capable of Improvement."
For another thing, yes, libertarians use the slur "statist" all the time. Trust me on that one.
Yeah but ad time seems to be all that's needed for votes. That's got to be the reason that one of the two most disliked people in America will win this election.
Btw, I don't like one of the candidates at all, but he/she hasn't run any ads. I won't mention who.

Will that person make commercials great again?

What a douche.
