NFT: What have we learned this week?

RC02XX : 7/29/2016 6:01 am
I got some good lessons on US history this week.

I learned that Hamilton wrote the Federal Reserve Act and basically screwed this nation from the start, but since some Puerto Rican wrote a musical about him, he's now the greatest member of our finding fathers.

I also learned that we should always judge those in the past based on our current values and standards, and if they don't meet them, then they're just bunch of racist assholes.

Why didn't my AP US History teach teach these things?!?
That should be founding fathers...
RC02XX : 7/29/2016 6:34 am : link
And AP teacher...

Obviously I didn't learn proper Engrish this week.
I learned there's no way

I learned that no one likes Brett anymore

I don't think it's half the country - more like 80-90% of the country are willing to love one crook vs another crook.

I learned that no matter how bad it gets or how much it changes, people will stick to their "tribe" no matter what.

I learned..
FatMan in Charlotte : 7/29/2016 8:25 am : link
- that being a Life Coach or Health Coach doesn't require one to know how to handle their own personal issues with people stealing from them

- Eli Apple hates lifting weights and has no military precision

- After years of it being in place, people still really have no clue what the PUP list's purpose is

- Amazon Fire sticks cause a shitload of confusion. Strange because I plugged mine in and it worked just fine

- Action Park dregs up fine memories. But then again, this was before brain-eating ameobas

- People will literally cry when a presidential candidate takes the stage. I didn't understand it with the Beatles, and I sure as fuck can't comprehend it now.

- Carlos Beltran was briefly traded last night

I hope you knew that long before this week...

It's amazing - the entire population of politicians are dishonest, self-centered thieves, willing to sell the whole place out for a buck, and somehow either one half of the population or the other will go to the mats for their respective set of criminals.

Well, I learned that people, for the most part, suck. One day they're praising a person's bravery and service to the nation, and the next day they spew some of the most disrespectful and vile insults at the same person just because they support opposing politics. Saw it multiple times last night with Gen Allen and Army Captain Groberg.

4- No good deed goes unpunished

I learned that Billy Joel is more popular than Bruce Springsteen in New York. And that Bruce Springsteen is more popular than Billy Joel in New Jersey. And that the Mighty E-Street Band tips the scales in Bruce's favor.

I learned that Odell Beckham was the cause of his own troubles in the Panther game. And that Josh Norman was just following a good game plan with a sound strategy for covering him. I also learned that all those high character, team captain type draft picks couldn't calm Beckham down on the sideline. Neither could the coaches.

You want to know something about presidential candidates? Look at their actions rather than listening to the words someone else wrote for them in a carefully scripted and choreographed dog and pony show. And this year, in any case, features two vile human beings who have been in the public eye long enough to know plenty about just how rotten they are.

Statist is such a cheesy term
AP in Halfmoon : 7/29/2016 2:30 pm : link
I see it used by anarchists not libertarians.
I learned this, in researching Ben Franklin:
x meadowlander : 7/29/2016 2:44 pm : link
From his "Advice to a friend on Choosing a Mistress":

"The Face first grows lank and wrinkled; then the Neck; then the Breast and Arms; the lower Parts continuing to the last as plump as ever: So that covering all above with a Basket, and regarding only what is below the Girdle, it is impossible of two Women to know an old from a young one. And as in the dark all Cats are grey, the Pleasure of corporal Enjoyment with an old Woman is at least equal, and frequently superior, every Knack being by Practice capable of Improvement."

well, for one thing libertarian is a big umbrella
Greg from LI : 7/29/2016 3:19 pm : link
There are plenty of ancaps under that umbrella.

For another thing, yes, libertarians use the slur "statist" all the time. Trust me on that one.

In November there will be five or six names on the ticket. It's amazing to me that one of these two assholes is going to be president just because they have the money to pay for more commercials. If that's the case than why don't we just make Flo the fucking President?
yes, ancaps are goofy and Rothbard was insane

Yeah but ad time seems to be all that's needed for votes. That's got to be the reason that one of the two most disliked people in America will win this election.
Ads are all that are needed for votes?

Well I just learned that some allegedly smart people know very little about our political system.

Btw, I don't like one of the candidates at all, but he/she hasn't run any ads. I won't mention who.

Seems to have been a key guy from the beginning. Burr? Not so much. Near last words: "'Pendleton knows' (attempting to turn his head towards him) 'that I did not intend to fire at him.'" Sorry Burr did not think that way. Thanks be to the powers that rule us that Hamilton's still on the ten.
