I got some good lessons on US history this week.
I learned that Hamilton wrote the Federal Reserve Act and basically screwed this nation from the start, but since some Puerto Rican wrote a musical about him, he's now the greatest member of our finding fathers.
I also learned that we should always judge those in the past based on our current values and standards, and if they don't meet them, then they're just bunch of racist assholes.
Why didn't my AP US History teach teach these things?!?
Obviously I didn't learn proper Engrish this week.

Unpossible!
Ah man...why you got to call me out like that, yo? Ok, so I admit that I was jealous of those brainiacs in their AP classes learning stuff while I was sniffing glue...:(
I learned I'll be able to turn the TV on again and see real news (well less drivel).
I don't think it's half the country - more like 80-90% of the country are willing to love one crook vs another crook.
I learned that no matter how bad it gets or how much it changes, people will stick to their "tribe" no matter what.
-Jeff Spicoli
- Eli Apple hates lifting weights and has no military precision
- After years of it being in place, people still really have no clue what the PUP list's purpose is
- Amazon Fire sticks cause a shitload of confusion. Strange because I plugged mine in and it worked just fine
- Action Park dregs up fine memories. But then again, this was before brain-eating ameobas
- People will literally cry when a presidential candidate takes the stage. I didn't understand it with the Beatles, and I sure as fuck can't comprehend it now.
- Carlos Beltran was briefly traded last night
- People will literally cry when a presidential candidate takes the stage. I didn't understand it with the Beatles, and I sure as fuck can't comprehend it now.
I cry because of all the blatant lies, half truths and false promises. (Both sides)
Like listening to brownstain/shadow etc on live TV.

Last night that half the nation is brain washed that thinking everything is on the up and up. And that we believe in liars, crooks, and greed.

I learned that the other half of the nation last week is just as gullible and pissed off at this week's soeakers.
Let's just say the last two weeks would make our founding fathers disappointed.

So true. Gives me agita everytime.

I hope you knew that long before this week...
It's amazing - the entire population of politicians are dishonest, self-centered thieves, willing to sell the whole place out for a buck, and somehow either one half of the population or the other will go to the mats for their respective set of criminals.
Well, I learned that people, for the most part, suck. One day they're praising a person's bravery and service to the nation, and the next day they spew some of the most disrespectful and vile insults at the same person just because they support opposing politics. Saw it multiple times last night with Gen Allen and Army Captain Groberg.
But go on and tell me how your politics is better.

Sorry about jumping the gun, dep...I thought you were making this political. I see that you hate both sides.
But now I can't remember squat. I blame old age and previous alcohol use.

Ummm.... what is my politics? I am no fan of the man who spoke last week either.
Read my follow on post, dep. Slight misunderstanding on my part...my apologies.

Not a problem whatsoever. I think we all can agree that we learned the last 2 weeks has brought out the worst in a lot of people... and the reason is the people trying to lead.
Thank god for children and dogs. They bring me sanity.

I agree but I thought listening to Mr Kahn made it all worth while.
Boy isn't this the truth. I can only wonder 200 years from now how they view us? Maybe having pets will be considered racist, or eating vegetables will immoral. Times are different, you can't view people from a different time through today's lense.
1- The country needs a reboot do-over on both sides and see where we end up?
2- Apparently the Giants do not like rain or bad weather so bad weather games as of now we are fucked.
3- Some women have no regard to their personal safety but apparently have an American hero complex.
4- No good deed goes unpunished
5- BBI is way too critical of Gidiefor.
One of my close friends (and classmate) spoke on Wednesday at the convention. Former Marine Captain Kristen Kavanaugh is a fascinating woman and veteran.

I learned that Odell Beckham was the cause of his own troubles in the Panther game. And that Josh Norman was just following a good game plan with a sound strategy for covering him. I also learned that all those high character, team captain type draft picks couldn't calm Beckham down on the sideline. Neither could the coaches.
But no where as intense as Gen Allen...haha.
Eh...when you hear that your classmate and your previous Commandant are going to speak, you sort of tune in, you know?

conventions. I honestly had no idea that people would have any interest in the kind of stage-managed bullshit that goes on there.

And I don't mean the CMC.
No offense intended Ronnie - and it's not your fault - this thread attracts the foment
Anyway....I suppose if there's a personal interest, as was the case for you, but in general I'd rather watch tree sloths racing.
and I learned that there are Americans that think the Presidential election is not important enough to watch the real arguments of the Presidential candidates which each convention is presumably a thought out version of
You want to see the way your presidential candidate thinks and the people they surround themselves with -- you watch the convention -- I found both to be very illuminating this year

You want to know something about presidential candidates? Look at their actions rather than listening to the words someone else wrote for them in a carefully scripted and choreographed dog and pony show. And this year, in any case, features two vile human beings who have been in the public eye long enough to know plenty about just how rotten they are.
you may call it PR -- I call it watching exactly how philosophically an administration would work, what's on their minds, and what their arguments are
to me that's important
I learned that Ronnie has friends. Need sources on that, though.

Not a big deal since this is just to pass the time on Friday when most of us are just thinking about the weekend.
At least no one has mentioned specific names.
