-As per Heyman and a bunch of writers, Yankees seem to have issues moving Beltran. Whether this is because of a high price or other reasons, not sure. Beltran could net a draft pick after the offseason if offered arb.
-One reporter saying Nats offered Giolito for Miller straight up....
I think you do that one.
I think you do that one.
You do it but I don't believe it. Nats have been very adamant that they won't trade him
They need him for a slim chance of sneaking to the Wild card and any team that gets him is getting a HUGE slugger and CLUTCH asset for the postseason and stretch run, no way we trade him to an AL team who would pay a ton unless they get a great deal. However if Miller is traded, Beltran will absolutely be traded immediately after that As it would signal a complete surrender for this season.
Who cares about the money? its the yankees.
That said, I don't believe it for a minute. The Nats have said it over and over, they are not dealing Giolito. Maybe the recent bullpen struggles and fan pressure has made them change their minds, but I'd be shocked. I sure would love to see Giolito in pinstripes though.
and Severino straightens out, push Tanaka to # 2 or 3, then you have a pretty formidable top 3 rotation. Eovaldi as # 4 is pretty damn good. He seems like a guy who would be better with less pressure to be "the man".
Maybe so, but too many old pitchers aren't going to get you anywhere either.
How does Severino, Giolito, Tanaka, Eovaldi and CC sound for next year? Could sub Pinata or one of their farmhands as the # 5 as well
I think you do that one.
Anything less than 2 premium prospects is a travesty.

Agree. If Nunez is worth Top 100 prospect, Beltran should be worth 2 at least
He already had TJ a couple of years ago.
Beltran's value is suppressed by his age and defensive ineptitude, not to mention the fact that he's a rental. The best option if they want to deal Beltran, I suspect, is packaging him with Miller.
They would have to make him a 1 yr ~ $16 mill qualifying offer. If he turns it down and goes FA they get "tweener" pick at the end of the 1st round.
Which is why there is speculation they will trade him from teams that need a bat.
The Yankees are in a uniquely good spot here. They can make any or all of these deals to brighten their future and remain for 2016 pretty much what they have been for the last few years: an 80-86 win team. And they can let Refsnyder, Judge and Hicks (I know, he's been a bust) get more playing time.
You're right. If they have the young guys they should play them over him. They might even get a low level prospect back for Hicks from a contender who needs an OF glove down the stretch.
good info. thanks

Beltran really wouldn't be a bad guy to have around if they're breaking in a bunch of young guys, so, worst-case, they extend QO and he takes it, they'd pay ARod to play golf...

I wouldn't empty my prospects for Chris Sale at this stage of the Yankees development.

Irrelevant. They're unwatchable now.
Do you think anyone cares? I really don't. He's not a beloved Yankee, as many people hate him as like him, if not more. I always thought that was tops among the stupid reasons that Hankenstein gave for outbidding himself to resign him after the infamous World Series opt out.

his 700th homer because they're going to have little else to try to promote to get people in the seats.
Absolutely. It's a pretty part of Virginia anyway, if you can detour to the smokehouse in Galax it's worth the trip. They've done a lot with that ballpark too.

They're unwatchable NOW. Trading him would not make any difference.
I'm sorry, you all thought I was crazy but I totally called it that Nunez would put up an AllStar season. I'm sorry but I just need to say it, yes it's NYK and shh please. I'm grown now. Peace

So the dumbass admits he's a dupe. Still as intelligent as ever.
Lol go play in traffic
Exactly!
Just gotta hope they get something for Beltran and Nova at least.
I know a lot will disagree with me. However, I rather have Romine in there over MCCann. I have more faith when we need a sacrifice fly Romne will get it done. For what they are paying MCCann he is not worth it. McCann these days seems to be a high risk reward hitter. He will either hit the homerun or pop up to the infield when all you need is a sacrifice fly as the Yankees needed last Saturday. Bases loaded and swings at the first pitch and meekly flys out.Cervelli has better numbers than him.

Idk, the Nats have two dynamite starters and a lineup that could catch fire. I would take the Cubs but it wouldn't be that big an upset.
Well that's interesting
Don't think this means much considering he has a full no trade clause. Only way it means something is if a deal is already worked out and he's agreeable to it. I wonder if he does want to go back to Atlanta. But I can't see them offering that much.
Well, they are going against a lefty. We all know how binders likes to play the matchups

Certainly a possibility. Hal needs to okay eating $. If he wants to get under $189 he could be creative with how he eats it. Eat everything this year, eat nothing next year and a lot of 2018, they could figure it out.
He is the 2 nod highest paid catcher in MLB . You don't think he has been a disappointment .
[quote] Your little vendetta against McCann is utterly ridiculous and makes you sound like a Randal-grade moron. [/quote
Just because you disagree with me you don,t need to call me a moron

You'd get a better grip on his value if you compared him to other MLB catchers. Simply put he's one of the best. He's helped hold this shaky Yankee pitching staff together since he signed here 3 years ago. And he hits. Even if he hits like shit for his standards he's got more pop than most catchers. Don't compare McCann to a 2000 version of mike piazza.

Why the hell do fans base their opinions on production on what a player makes? It makes no sense. That's for the team to care about, not the fans. The only thing we should be comparing is McCanns productivity against the other catchers in the league. And he's upper echelon. Who gives a rats ass what he makes? If there was a salary cap, MAYBE I could see why fans would care, but there is not in baseball.
Pro sports should be an escape. If I want to worry about money I'll ask my wife how the bank account looks these days.
I wish they'd apply some kind of hippa law to pro salaries. We'd all be better off.
And no I'm not disappointed in McCann. Could he do better of course but he's a damn good catcher.
And with our incredible 4 hits tonight, I'm SO ready to dump as many of the older guys as we can, particularly guys at positions where there are players waiting in the wings, as Sanchez is with McCann.
Oh man, what timing for KC. Couldn't be any worse, lol. For us, it's great! Hate to see any player go through this though.
It's not one guy, it's the entire payroll. Did we go for Moncada? Nope. Did we go all in on INT FAs at that time? Nope (although we finally did two years ago). Did we try to get below $189M? So yeah, seriously...of course he AND the other big ticket players influence what we spend in other areas.
For both the Rangers might be willing cough up Profar and a couple of prospects.
