Last two years I was in grad school and had no TV. So I watched games either at a bar or when I visited my parents. Now I can watch football again and this looks like a legitimately decent team.
when they cleared the stadium for weather was the 2000 opener against the Cardinals when there was a lightning strike and scared the shit out of Ron Dixon. I was at that game, it was hot as hell.
God damn this team is always a pain in the ass......
Players might be back on the field at 7:30 but not kick-off......in-fact as I watch Ppa and Banks, there are no people in the stands....8pm kick-off at the earliest
I wanted to watch some football and then watch the Olympics at 8. Now they'll go against each other. The Olympics are the one thing that might cause me to switch channels.

I'm watching USA Serbia right now. 71-60 USA near the end of the third. It's actually a decent game.
ive been using it since the beginning. it auto renews every year. when the team is good, its great. when they arent so good.... well lets just say i dont use the game rewind feature as much.
Crappy blocking! Eli would have gotten hammered, but thankfully Nassib has some wheels. Oline so far has been extremely erratic......I'm sure it will get better.
is that I look forward to it for such a long time because that's the first football in months and after the first drive there are a bunch of scrubs out there.
is that I look forward to it for such a long time because that's the first football in months and after the first drive there are a bunch of scrubs out there.
subbed out our entire OL with predictable results. Pressure on Nassib pretty quickly. Tye with a nice catch and move on second down, but it was called back because of an illegal formation. Nassau almost picked on third down. We really need some of these backup OL to emerge.
Nassib had a rough opening game to the preseason last year and then looked much better the following weeks. Or is it the 2014 preseason I'm thinking of?
His vision has been great and I'm seeing burst and shake that I've never scene him have before.
On the other hand I don't think their is one backup OL that is worth keeping. Damn they are bad.
I've always thought Williams had good ability I think it was his vision and the blocking the Giants have had the past few years. I think he makes the team and actually gets some good play time this year.
Just going by tonight, I can't see any reason to carry more than 8 OL on the 53 man roster and then another two on the practice squad.
Tend to agree. Why use a ninth roster spot for another OL in this situation? But the Giants will probably carry nine, since that is their custom. Right now, we've got a lot of bodies, but the backup OL is concerning. The D has been excellent. Pressure and coverage. Great stuff.
by Nassib leads to the INT. He did make a nice slant completion to Davis on an earlier series. Thought Hart was solid in pass protection. Another nice run by Williams.
Can we wait for a few preseason games before we decide that Nassib should be run off the team?
This is the same Nassib that we have seen in pre season since the day he was drafted. An occasional nice throw surrounded by a lot of play from a guy who looks like he should never be an NFL starter at QB
in his defense the Oline would scare the shit out of just about anybody. I'm nervous for him on my couch. I can't understand how the Giants let the Oline go to such complete dogshit. Now he throws another pick! Hahaha
underthrow by Nassib leads to his second INT. I'm throwing in the towel. He's been terrible tonight, but it's just one game.
but it isn't just one game. It is magnified more tonight because he started and is in there for more snaps. Reality is that this is the Nassib we have seen since he came to the team.
in his defense the Oline would scare the shit out of just about anybody. I'm nervous for him on my couch. I can't understand how the Giants let the Oline go to such complete dogshit.
When our GM watched the Super Bowl on TV, he decided that the OLs of the teams who made it weren't all that great; therefore, improving the Giants' OL didn't need to be a priority.
Agree. Four years as Eli's backup. Did he not learn anything?
He's been bad, but Oline hasn't been helping matters either. He gets happy feet too easily sometimes and rushes his throws. I think his mechanics are shitty because of it.
RE: RE: Matt Moore was the QB that beat the Giants at home
He was the Panther's QB in the Giants final home game at Giants Stadium in 2009. And he was the starting QB for the Panthers in the Giants first home game at MetLife in 2010.
Calling him a veteran is a bit of a stretch. In years yes, in playing time not quite. He hasn't played much football the past 3 years.
Years of development, practice, and previous preseason starts have to manifest themselves in some way. I'm not sure a rookie QB could have done worse than this.
2 series? well poor OL play from the second and third units not that unusual for teams without depth. We all understand the lack of depth on this unit.
has been awful. We have no backup center. Who has confidence in Jones? The brutal reality is that although we need to see more, Hart may well be the only worthwhile backup OL.

Art Stapleton @art_stapleton
Eli Apple just returned to the #Giants bench. No visible wraps on his knee. Appears to be walking fine. Uniform sitll on, no helmet. #NYG
Art Stapleton @art_stapleton
Sterling Shepard back out of the locker room as well for #Giants. He's standing on sideline, and as I said earlier, appears fine.
appear to be way better than ours, for whatever that's worth.
Worth quite a bit. This has been the story the past two or three preseasons. Our depth is thin and our 2nd and 3rd stringers get beat up. We know what has happened when our starters have gone down in the regular season.
He knew he was getting this start days ahead of time.
His only role on this team is to be ready at a moment's notice.
Nassib flat out sucked. This is his 4th year in the league and he looked like a rookie drafted in the 6th round. Truly horrible. Giants definitely need a better backup. Hard to find one this year so they just have to hope Eli stays healthy.
A wretched QB, but enormous. If he really wanted a legit chance to be an NFL player, he'd move to TE, because the guy really is a load to bring down. Very powerful runner.
They show otherwise, even the starters were not great and the 2d and 3D stringers were horrendous. I suppose you could say Hart and Stingily were ok, but was there another lineman that you have confidence in?

Shane McDermott had a couple of good blocks. With how poorly the 2nd String OL looked, I would consider seeing if he can play OG on that unit

You surprise me admitting that! But I agree 150%. If he were willing to convert to TE and worked his a-- off at it he might make it in the league. Purely athletically he'd easily be the best athlete at TE on our roster!!!

Duh, I'm getting the game here in SW fla.
Worth the $99 for the replays though.
game.
Yeah, game pass is great. No complaints. Now we need a game to justify the $100.

Now it's time to see this new defense.
Love the delayed blitz off of Snacks inside shoulder.
Nice start for the D.
I know. Isn't it awesome!!

Same here. Too cheap for game pass and the NFL Nazis shut down YouTube before it even started. Assholes.
This may not be that bad for you. See link below.

That's okay. Focus on the young guys.
papa and banks
spags doing some stunt work early - love that too! thank god
Rainey fumbles the punt, but Apple recovers. Ball near midfield. That's the problem with Rainey, and he's already in an uphill fight to make the team.
he played well the last couple of preseasons - lets relax a little
Watched him on two plays. Stoned his guy both times, from what I could tell.
Yeah he looked good. Stoned his man on a couple plays.
He has overtaken Thomas on the depth chart.
Quote:
over JT Thomas when he returns?
He has overtaken Thomas on the depth chart.
Who's depth chart? Thomas has been on the PUP.
we'll see
I love it when the play is successful. Hate it when its not.
Yea, but he's played behind crappy olines in pre-season going on 4 years now and he's played fairly well in pre-season before.
the skins game the other night was insane. the announcers were really beaten down by it too.
Quote:
calling the plays. How do we feel about that?
we'll see
I'm wondering if he's just testing him out. Maybe it's just so McAdoo can focus on his players.
On the other hand I don't think their is one backup OL that is worth keeping. Damn they are bad.
Synchronocity !!???!!!
And horrid.
Agreed - not a Pro QB
Easy now. Love the optimism, but we're not even to half of our first preseason game.

Agreed we could use him and Vazquez but they might not be able to play 16 games total between the two. Lacking O-line talent will sink a ship fast.
Williams looks good as does Apple and the DL. D overall looks sharp
Has he been in the league 4 years yet?
Doubt he is any worse, he may actual impress compared to Nassib.
Can we wait for a few preseason games before we decide that Nassib should be run off the team?

The only reason we have 10 is because Shepard made a great catch.
No chance at all to trade him now after this film gets out.
Groin . . . is the new calf.
first preseason game and we already have to dodge injuries to our first and second round picks...oh boy
sure... maybe when he is 30 he will be able to make an NFL throw

Sarcasm.
He dropped in the draft b/c of his arm.
but it isn't just one game. It is magnified more tonight because he started and is in there for more snaps. Reality is that this is the Nassib we have seen since he came to the team.
apple is the worry
He's a big liability against pass plays.
The only thing that matters for the #Giants right now is the status of Eli Apple's knee and Sterling Shepard's groin.
When our GM watched the Super Bowl on TV, he decided that the OLs of the teams who made it weren't all that great; therefore, improving the Giants' OL didn't need to be a priority.
From his lips.
Pretty confident in saying that Sterling Shepard is fine. He's still on the bench not even getting treatment. Precautionary. #Giants

as our backup than Nassib.
I would rather have Sheldon Cooper as our QB than Michael Vick.
I really dont want Mike Vick. My comment was really just a way to show how much I dislike Nassib
BTW - watching the Dolphin feed and nothing mentioned about Apple - in fact they never even said his name despite all the tackles he made.
Agree. Four years as Eli's backup. Did he not learn anything?
Ha - true.. with Detroit??

Typical Dolphin broadcast. They totally ignore the other team.

No, the Dolphins. That was the game Cruz had that spinning catch that turned into a TD.
Yikes ... what is this his 4th year?
On top of it, some of his throws are lackluster. Not leading enough, not outside enough. No touch.
No awareness when escaping the pocket, leads to a fumble.

Agreed. Condemning Nassib to the point of demanding he be cut is an overreaction, but he has been awful for the reasons you state.

No way in hell he walks off.

Ouch.

Sehorn spent about 25 minutes with the trainers before he limped back to the trainer's room too.

The 2nd or 3rd line is what it is. But Gettis is having an awful game.
Hart was handling his guy easily, IMHO/

Agreed. I want to see more of Perkins too.
DE @LPJ_Odighizuwa now has three QB hits, including two sacks. #MIAvsNYG

Sean McDermott, I believe is the back up center.
More like one series, maybe two.

Agree. He looks like he's still trying to process the game, but shows power at the point of attack and pretty good nose for the ball carrier.

Thought so too. Not sure what happened there.
Eli Apple has now re-joined the #Giants CBs on the bench. If this were a serious injury, certainly don't think he would be out there.

More like one Giant took the other out but both were already out of the play anyway. Overpursued. It's a new word.
Most of these guys will be on the street in a few weeks. The only thing to watch are some individual match-ups.

i don't think these are 2s and 3s, these are more like 4s and 5s. These are the 70 to 90 roster guys, imho.
Probably the tallest that's in there along with Jerell Adams. A legit 6'6
INJURY REPORT: FB/TE Will Johnson has a burner #MIAvsNYG
Me too.
Taylor with the penalty.
Thomas is from Va. Tech IIRC. So he's worse than Darth Vader.
Rainey was terrible, Nassib was awful as well and that was the biggest disappointment of the game.
Lots of bumps and bruises from this game which is going to effect next week's roster.
Ready to see Eli to OBJ next week.
Well, Anthony Davis and Louis Vasquez are imminent so...
Shane McDermott had a couple of good blocks. With how poorly the 2nd String OL looked, I would consider seeing if he can play OG on that unit
