It seems the new theme of going to a live game is stuffing your face with the concessions not watching the game LOL.
I know it's only preseason but in the old days you would sit, cheer and watch the game not stand in front of people while trying to watch a play. Now it seems like people are totally oblivious to what's going on and only concerned with going up and down the aisle and stuffing their faces. People were standing in front of you while the play was going on taking selfies for Christ's sake! The stadium was also extremely quiet but then again it was very hot and a stormy night.
As I've said often (and no, the old days are not automatically better), when we had the season tickets for decades, you built a relationship with fans around you and the only music was the half time band..
I love watching at home
That said, there's nothing like the feeling of the stadium cheering in unison for a great play.

depends on the game. place was rocking and engaged last year for a few. Patriots in particular.
lol
Yeah let's just say the preseason demographic is different than the regular season attendance.
I watch every second of every pre-season game. Sometimes multiple times. When I go live I dont typically stand and cheer. pre-season is about watching individuals. I dont care about the results once the first teamers leave. I go to see how individual players perform. Sure Ill cheer after a big play. But I am not nearly as invested as I am at actual games.

Today's experience at the game is still similar to the good old days. I've forged relationships in my new section at the new digs. It's not 1989 jimmy Hoffa days but it's still pretty great.
My favorite aquaintences in my section are drunk John and an older gentelman that always goes out of his way to crawl back two rows to say hello to us. I think he knows me more than I know him. Lol.
That's the difference between "football" fans and football fans.
It's 10x more enjoyable watching from home with the TV product as good at is. Also, the new stadium is just awful. I've yet to meet a person who prefers it to the old stadium.
Have had season tickets for years and probably no longer. I also agree w '56. We knew the guys next to us. Would see them 8x a year. Now it's just new people every time (and we're just as much to blame, we give our tickets away all the time).
You hit on what I was thinking. Was there AC at the concessions? If so, I'd have spent some time there last night. And I don't bring a smart phone with me to the stands.
The game just is not that exciting when you are watching backups.
Personally, I'd rather watch a football game at home or a bar than in person.

At home, not at a bar. You often cannot hear WTF is going on with the noise in a bar. Prefer to watch at home then go to a bar to watch the other games.
I used to use my rent money on tickets when I was younger, now you couldn't give me free tickets and get me to go.
the drunks, the fights, the traffic, the lines, the home viewing experience being so great, remove any incentive
I agree there is nothing comparable to actually being in the stadium when the team is rolling and the crowd is into it and a great play happens and you get to experience, but it's no longer worth it. to me.
Sounds like you are retiring? If so congrats!
Have other season ticket holders been able to recoup their initial buy in when selling off their PSLs? I'd guess their are no profits but I could be wrong.

I am going to be splitting the year between NJ and FL. When that happens, I may consider selling my PSL's and will use the $$ to buy a boat.

Not retiring YET, but I can work anywhere. I am in the mode where I want to begin pulling back on the intensity and stress. My NJ residence is paid off, my last kid has 2 more years of college....so the wife and I are looking.
Regarding your comment on the sale of PSL's. I would say most seats are not a profit center. Ticket agents would buy mine fairly quickly I think due to the location. The value also has a lot to do with how well the team has been playing. Like anything else it is a supply/demand thing.
No. The place will be packed as usual.
You have my best wishes but can a psl even be sold? Who would buy it? Good luck....
and it was 100 degrees out.
But we will all proceed to get off your lawn

[quote] The world is about looking down(cell, phones, etc)..The stadia are unnecessarily loud, but not the good kind of loud. The Music blaring loud between plays, The active PA announcers....Just awful..

+1... You knew almost everyone in your section and everyone was watching the game...
Best at home now.
Although I love going on the road.
I would agree that for most seats in the stadium it may be difficult. However, I am in a unique situation. I am right behind the visitor's bench and in my opinion for resale this spot may be the best in the stadium. Face value for regular season games is $180. The same seats on the Giants side cost at least $700 (and you get that old country buffet food. who cares?).
These seats/PSLs are attractive to ticket brokers. For division games and other teams with a following like the Packers, Raiders, etc my tix sell for $1000 each minimum. For non division games usually anywhere from $500-$750 each. Pre-season I am getting AT LEAST face value and usually about $100 more per pair per game with the parking pass include. Fans of the opposing teams want to buy these games so they can sit next to their team and chat with the players.
Each season I sell both pre-season games and then two regular season games and I end up going to the other 6 games for free. In many instances I know that ticket brokers are buying my seats for those prices and potentially re-selling them.
So, I am sure that for me (unusual circumstances) I can sell these PSLs not only for what I paid but also for a profit to ticket brokers. If they sold every game for as much as they could that would be a great investment for them. They would make at least a 10%-15% return EACH YEAR on the cost of the PSLs and still have that asset to sell again if they wanted.
