He's going to sub him again. Diaz let him tire himself out last time. A d despite all the crap Connor's camp is putting out. Diaz is still to long for Connor. Hat he has zero TDD and as I said before is going to hurt him. Negates some of his leg strikes if he has to worry about being taken down he's just Not a top level grappler and isn't big enough to keep Diaz off of him once he closes

Yeah, I rewatched their first fight last night. McGregor has brilliant command of his reach, but its still not quite enough. He will come swinging hard, and he's powerful so he's got a puncher's chance.
I just don't think Diaz will come in making mistakes. His scars will cut and he'll bleed, but I don't think Conor will pose a serious threat.
ATL. Just knowing
LauderdaleMatty : 8/16/2016 5:25 pm : link
How much of an edge Diaz has over Conor in the sub game makes me think Conor has a really tough time winning. Diaz loses because of bleeding from cuts is more possible than Connor knocking him out IMO.

Rematch that RDA aDiaz fight. He took 10 times the abuse from him. And RDAs BJJ was able to stymie Nate. I see Nate winning by sub again. He's a tricky lanky dude . Hate that body type. I'm Connor's size without the reach of course but those long limbs are a bitch.

Khabib is a monster
LauderdaleMatty : 8/16/2016 11:39 pm : link
At 155. Alvarez IMO is ducking him. Hes a one a done champ IMO. Most of his fights have been snoozers in the UFC Ferguson RDA should be a great fight. It was good to see Dana make Woodly fight Thompson. Should he then same deal for Alvarez. Fight whom they put up There. And Khabib is undefeated amd how healthy
Dana wants MMA in the Olympics

I hope Conor drops back down to 145. I want to see a rematch against Aldo

Vin Travis Stevens who just won
LauderdaleMatty : 8/17/2016 1:14 pm : link
The Silver in Judo trains w under one of our guys in NJ. He goes to the main academy a lot too. Hes a monster

As for Conor I don't think he ever makes that cut to 145. Hes still young but every year it gets harder IMO. AND while I'm sure he could do it, without the IVs its going to suck for him to go through that.

Also which Aldo shows up. His last fight w Frankie was one of his best in a while. But Frankie is one of the smaller guys at 145. A!do totally negated his wrestling. MCGregor is the opposite. It's all about the stand-up and his range Can Aldo either take him down or not walk into his power.

Whoa that's awesome, is he making the jump to the UFC anytime soon?

And I agree about Conor, it's going to be very interesting after 202. A lot riding on that fight
Not sure about Travis. I'll ask.
LauderdaleMatty : 8/17/2016 3:32 pm : link
The bow and arrow choke in the semifinals was classic BJJ. He came down and trained w is one day the last time Renzo did a seminar. Just another level athlete.
If Nate wins again as I expect
LauderdaleMatty : 8/17/2016 3:37 pm : link
Connor should wind up at 155. He basically just said he has nothing to prove at 145 since Frankie lost to Aldo. To be honest that should be his class. At 170 he one of the smallest guys. Guys like Woodley and Rory would rag doll him. Most casual fans don't realize Nate's career has been mostly at 155. Not sure why they don't just right there. IMO they only fought at 170 so Nate could make weight.

Conor shows up late
LauderdaleMatty : 8/18/2016 7:32 am : link
Meant to play mind games but the spin coming out of his camp is a bit much.

So much was made of the weight and his diet but he never once talks about the challemges presented by bright guys whose reach matches his. Never mind that he is in a serious deficit when it comes to the ground game. He literally has one path to a win. Striking.

Nate needs to be smarter this fight amd grapple or dirty has to take downs and submisions. At least IMO. Sure he can hang on hi feet but why give Conor that punchers chance?
Couldn't agree more
Vin R : 8/18/2016 7:43 am : link
And I caught the press conference after Conor was already there.. Didn't know he was late until after. UFC definitely made a little more Saturday night after that scene, can't wait for the weigh in tomorrow

If it goes to the ground, Conor is over his head...
Matt G : 8/18/2016 8:42 am : link
as are plenty of UFC fighters vs. Nate... Fortunately for Conor... Nate (and Nick) won't force a fight to the ground... He will stand and trade... Nate is a good boxer, but Conor is the superior, more dynamic striker, IMO... The biggest question is can Conor maintain the pace for 5RDs... Nate's chin and cardio are phenomenal... If Conor fades, Nate swarms/smothers/strangles him again...

Per usual, Dan Hardy gives an excellent breakdown of the fight...

It's going to be a great fight...
I just hope this fight goes past the 2nd round

Nate will give Conor that punchers chance because that is what Nate (and Nick) seem to do and both of their records would be much better if they would make an attempt to take more fights to the ground.
Conor other than vs Aldo
LauderdaleMatty : 8/18/2016 9:43 am : link
Isnt known for one punch power. Nate and Nick are opportunists in the sub game and mybmind keeps going back to the end of Rd 1 when the bell rang and Nick almost slid right into a knee bar. No offence to Kavenaugh and the rwst of hat camp but the grappling there doesn't come close to what Nat gets to face in just Nick and Jake Shields who Natehas trained w for years. His BJJ just isn't close and since I dont think he will kick as much for fear of take downs I just dont see him having the ability to knock Nate out. Nate can still go for subs non stop. Even after getting hammered for 5 rounds vs RDA he was going for subs. Conor gets subbed IMO. Rd 2 or 3 this time

Nate now has a full camp too. I dont givea shit what Conor's excuses were. I mean they said not having to cut weight hurt Conor. WTF. Nate coming in 10 days and performing like he did was amazing. W a full camp. He's going to be very tough. Amd he will be talking shit from the opening bell. Conor is the one used to getting under peoples skin. Think Nate is in his head like he was in Aldo's

Conor can win but his path is not an easy one.
I don't know if I'm the only one..
Vin R : 8/18/2016 10:06 am : link
But after watching the press again - Conor didn't seem like his cocky/confident self, he seemed more on the defensive and frustrated. Nate is definitely in his head.

I'm a fan of them both. My heart says Conor, but my head says Nate

area junc : 8/18/2016 6:05 pm : link
a better striker than diaz? who TF does mcgregor spar with because diaz bros spar with name boxers like andre ward and they've been doing it 10+ years

it's the same story as the last fight: mcgregor is hyped but diaz is simply the better fighter. he's been in it longer, he has better sparring partners, more experience....he's just better everywhere.

mcgregor's got the speed advantage but that's it. imo
Area Junc I think Conor
LauderdaleMatty : 8/19/2016 10:19 am : link
Uses his kicks better than Nate. He's a bit more diverse amd dynamic striker. Nate amd Nick's boxing is top tier in MMA. They are willing to take damage which is dangerous but most of their losses come to wrestlers amd top tier BJJ fuys who can weather their sub games.

RewTched the last round yesterday. Conor can win but the end IMO Will be same. Conor was always willing to be aggressive and take shots but as Nate said. Hes not fighting midgets anymore. Nate can take his shots. Wont get tired. Hex getting subbed again. Watch the choke. Nate transitioned from one sub to the next. It's going to end. Would love to see a heel hook or a knee bar. This will be there all day

Hey LM, Conor was handling him fine on the feet for eight minutes. Let's see what kind of shape he's in and if he can control the energy output. Got to keep it standing, I like Conor's attack over Nate's boxing but the BJJ is a gamechanger with with Nate's limbs.

Im interested to see how both guys are w full camp for each other. Conor keeps bringing up a lot of excuses but Nate had virtually no camp. I'll say it again. As good as Conor is at striking he's not huge for 155 never mind 170. His reach at 145 made guys step into his power. If Nate could handle what RDA did he can handle 5 rounds of McGregor IMO.

And as you pointed out that long build and Nate's BJJ make submissions really a huge advantage for him. Conor doesn't have the sub defense IMO to survive 5 rounds. Nate is the better fighter when looking at their MMA skills and I think it will show w a full camp. We will see as always. One of us will be wrong but at least not as sore as the two fighters lol it's not going to be pretty but should be an insane fight

Advantage at FW vs WW. What isn't mentioned is that my guess is he will still weigh around 170 at right time. Nate won't be much more but I bet he's 180ish.

Now Woodley Lawler Maia and say Rory would all be IMO at least 185 come first bell. He can mess around w Nate who has spent almost his whole career at 170 but he's insane if he thinks he can carve out a career at 170 IMO

in my opinion especially if you looked at their faces, Diaz was busted up pretty bad but what a warrior he kept coming.
Got to hand it to McGregor coming up to 170 to fight and still having power to knock Diaz down a few times. SHould be interesting at 155 if it happens.
McGregor also broke his foot at some point with his leg kicks and is limping badly out of the arena.

You can't judge by how their face looks. Diaz has so much scar tissue on his face, if you sneeze on him, he'd look like that.

Yep, part of me began to want Diaz to win due to some of Conor's antics but every time he opens his mouth he comes off so unlikeable. His post fight comments were pathetic.
What's funny about these two guys
bhill410 : 8/21/2016 7:51 am : link
Is that if you hate mcgregor (which I get) for being who he is then you also have yo really really hate the Diaz brothers. It's as tho Conner is able to still be like able while being a jerk while the Diaz brothers are just a holes. And I am not sure the casual fan realized that going into the fight. It's not like mcgregor was fighting Frankie Edgar who everyone wants to root for / this is friggin Nate Diaz the less talented version of the biggest pair of jerks in the UFC.
McGregor won.
LauderdaleMatty : 8/21/2016 8:36 am : link
Nate has only himself to blame. He and Nick do this all the time. Nick claimed GSP had a spy in his camp. It's just talk. Props to Connor making sure he fight never hit he mat

Surprised how gassed Conor got. The legs kicks were smart. Won the fight.

Lastly 155 was where this fight should have been anyway. Conor's runaway ego got he best of him w this 170 class. He's too small I said it earlier he's not even a top 10 guy at 170. That's not a knock btw. He's not a thick dude. 155 was always where he was heading before the RDA injury.

As for the other two top fights Cerrone looks great at 170 and Rumble almost killed Texiera who is a tough SOB.

Diaz won if only because of how dominant he was in the third, but when you score it round to round mcgregor clearly (IMO) won. It's just tough to forget how much better Diaz was in 3rd
I had McGregor winning until

He purposely started running away to bleed clock in the last 2 rds. When he did that and with the take down at the end, I thought Diaz won.
Glover's tooth went airborne off the uppercut

It's going to be interesting to see if DC can weather the early storm again and if Rumble can make any adjustments to keep DC off him...

If you go by round by round, Conor won rounds 1,2, and 4. Diaz didn't do anything in round 2 until about a minute left. Conor recovered from his round 3 whooping to win round 4. The only debate was whether or not round 3 was a 10-8 round. One of the judges saw it that way, hence the 47-47 score.

Diaz should have taken advantage of Conor turning his back to him instead of bitching about it post fight. He's got every excuse in the book when he loses.
I was surprised it wasnt a 10-8

in round 2. Connor knocked him down 2x and got some heavy kicks in as well. I guess the last minute cost him a 10-8.
So awesome to see the fight go the distance

I can see that to a point, but IMO if a fighter is purposely playing stay away, that has to cost him. If you do that then Diaz wins both final rounds
Diaz lost because like some fighters refuses to adjust

I've made it clear I'm not a McGregor fan but he changed his game plan w the leg kicks. A blue print from the
RDA fight. Without that he loses IMO Nick and Nate never ever change up. Nick complained that GSP had a spy because he was prepared for Nicks mat work. Like GSP a High level BJJ black belt can't watch film.

Nate needed to work on take downs. Fuck w so many leg kicks the shot was there. Not trying to muscle Conor on the cage. He also waited almost 2 rounds to crowd Conor. Why? Conor is t going to dirty box or grapple.

Diaz and McGreggor can now fight again at 155. It's about $$$ and I don't blame them for that. Conor' doesn't want to cut to 145 IMO. There's also no way the UFC wants Conor near Alvarez or Khabib right now. Both whom at 155 will take the match to the ground. So we get a trilogy for $$$. Good we will get to see another good fight but neither with a win Nate is still not a contender at 155 and Conor shouldn't be either. .

202 was just awesome
Vin R : 8/22/2016 9:17 am : link
all around and Matty I agree about Cody - he's going to destroy Cruz
Based on Dana and Conor's post fight comments...
Matt G : 8/22/2016 10:01 am : link
The trilogy will happen but it's probably not Conor's next fight... Conor seems to still have his eyes on that LW strap... Dana was fairly adamant that he defends or vacates the FW belt... Nate isn't taking another fight other than Conor...

I rarely buy into those canned lines of "the loss was the best thing that could have happened." And to be honest I felt like Conor was getting detoured similar to BJ Penn taking fights two and three classes above him... But after seeing the changes that he made in Saturday, Conor will come out the other side of this trilogy a much better fighter than he was coming in...

I think Conor's KO power will translate at LW... Nate is not the "normal" LW chin... Poirier is top 10 at LW and we saw what happened... Alvarez is gonna try to wrestle Conor to death... I think Conor can beat Alvarez but Khabib is a very bad match up... Conor's TD defense is better than what he showed vs Mendes on a bum knee, but it's nowhere near Aldo's level...
BTW this was awesome to see as well
Vin R : 8/22/2016 10:02 am : link
Conor will wind up at 155
JonC : 8/22/2016 12:49 pm : link
quite possibly in his next fight, unless he gets onboard to defend the 145 strap versus Aldo. He's only 28, he figures to grow and get stronger and better suited to 155, although I don't see anyway to argue his ground game and wrestling aren't going to match up with Khabib, for one.
Not a slight to Conor whom u guys know I'm all over about his ground
LauderdaleMatty : 8/24/2016 7:16 am : link
Game to say Khabib is a bad match up. I think he's the best 155er out there. Just needs to stay healthy.

Btw Cerrone wants to come back to 155. He beat Alvarez. Think he can beat a Conor on a good night if he doesn't do his slow start. His stand up is easily as good and anyone's. There are a lot of fights for Conor at 155. All of them can be as tough or tougher than aDiaz and only one at 145. And Alvarez wants no part of Khabib and would love the $$$ that come w McGregor.

Alvarez dossnt have to get Conor down to win but to crowd him and negate that speed. To be honest Alverez is an easier fight for Conor than Khabib, Cerrone, and RDA again IMO.
