Hey doods,

Wondering if I could get help with my team. I just finished my draft and the rest of the league thinks my team is the worst, as I was ranked 14 out of 14 in the power rankings. Well you can imagine my pain when they revealed this to me, as I thought (and still think) my team is solid. No flashy players, but solid all around. Here it is:

QB: Tyrod Taylor (Round 6)
RB: Todd Gurley (Round 1)
RB: Melvin Gordon (Round 5)
WR: Mike Evans (Round 2)
WR: Keenan Allen (Round 3)
TE: Zach Ertz (Round 7)
Flex(WR/RB/TE): Michael Floyd (Round 4)
K: Robert Agwayo (Round 14)
DEF: Vikings (Round 13)
-------
Reserves:
Kamar Aiken (Round 8)
Bilal Powell (Round 9)
Charles Sims (Round 10)
Sterling Shepard (Round 11)
Martellus Bennett (Round 12)
-------

For those of who still reading this, I commend you for taking your time to help a fellow BBIer. I wouldn't have taken the time to type this just so people can console me and say "Oh, your team isn't so bad!" as I sulk behind an LED screen. So, please take your best shots and advise me on potential trade pieces and positional needs. Take these points into account. Thank you, friends -

* I am in a league with 14 people with a snake draft format (I was pick #3), so obviously you have to go dumpster diving earlier than other leagues.
* I am usually very against going QB in the 6th round, but everyone in my league started hurrying up to get quarterbacks as early as the third round, so naturally I felt rushed to get one.
* Draft pick I like the most is snagging Keenan Allen in the third round, and the pick I worry the most about is Michael Floyd in the fourth (he shows promise, but he doesn't live up to the hype each year).
* My friends are idiots

not to criticize or anything but you may get more traction there
for a 14 team league, you have some pretty good starters

assuming Melvin Gordon takes a big step forward this year and Tyrod Taylor plays at least above average.

Your bench is shaky at best.
Btw

I agree with above. 14 team leagues are tough.

-Taylor is a better fantasy QB than real life QB and I think he'll have a decent year. He's definitely among the lower tier QB 1's but he has upside.
-Gurley should be fine. I'm a bit concerned on how he slumped end of the year but he'll get around 250-280 carries, 300 yards or so receiving, and is another year off of ACL injury. Even with low YPC numbers he'll be productive
-Gordon burned me last year but I would have to assume he'll be a bit better this year. He'll get carries.
-I like the rest of your starters a lot.

Bench is tricky - I'm sure you can get better guys in your FA pool

I think if Gordon turns it around and Floyd continues his really good end of the year, you'll have a solid team
Floyd's splits last year
kash94 : 8/21/2016 5:01 pm : link
First 7 games: 213 yards 2 TD's

Final 8 games: 639 yards and 4 TD's

In those final 8 games he had 5 100+ yard games including TD's in 3 of those 5 games.

Entering a contract year now as well
I am not a fan of your RB situation.

Gordon was terrible last year and had knee (microfracture) surgery in the offseason. Maybe he breaks out but I would be uncomfortable starting him right out of the gates.

If I was you I would look at the waiver wire for some potentially high upside RBs. I do think Charles Sims could be a stud if Doug Martin happened to get injured so I would keep him.
Bench

For my bench, I admittedly tried to outsmart my fellow drafters by picking "sleepers", guys I did my research on that I may or may not have jumped the gun on too early.
Aiken - I see him being a solid bench player for me. With Steve Smith being old and hobbled, Mike Wallace not being what he used to be, and Aiken drawing the lesser cornerbacks, I have faith in his production.
Sims, Powell - Both backups that have average production. I like the pass catching RBs, so for any hurry up or chew the clock situations they're used. Also, both are behind injury-prone guys.
Shepard, Bennett - Best available IMO during my picks. Guys I can monitor on the bench and see how well they do, developmental picks. Low team security.
If it's PPR then Powell and Sims are goog picks.

If not you Have Zero depth at Rb. If You have an injury or Gordon is a bust your in trouble.
What kind of RBs

were not drafted? I am assuming it is slim pickings in a 14 team league. Anyone worth a shot?
Obviously

there were more qualified running backs still left during the draft, but right now top guys listed are Darren McFadden, LeGarrette Blount, Karlos Williams (just got axed from Bills), Chris Johnson, Javorius Allen, and Shane Vareen. For a 14 person league, the waiver wire is going to be very slim. Unlike an actual NFL team, I never really put emphasis on depth, just because, if healthy, your starters play all the games for you (except bye weeks). Your depth doesn't have to be too deep after one or two reserves, so I am usually content with back ups that produce.
Without seeing the draft board

I can already tell you that even in a 14 team league your team is terrible. You somehow managed to have the worst qb in your league and one of the worst starting tight ends. Typically this means that you would have loaded up on top end rb and wr talent. Nope. Marginal at best.

I agree with the guys in your league.

How did you rank players pre draft?
