NFT: Don't hang Lochte, yet.

section125 : 8/21/2016 8:35 pm
Turns out, according to USA Today, Lochte's 2nd statement was close to the truth as per the two non-charged swimmers and the findings of their reporters.

Seems the Rio police may have exaggerated as much as Lochte. Seems the "security guards" may have committed a crime, also. The guards were moonlighting prison guards who should not have shown badges.

The only vandalism was tearing down a loosely hung sign that was in disrepair. Damage to the bathroom never occurred - they weren't in it.

While Lochte embellished the original story, it appears the Rio police (and maybe the judge) embellished on their findings, too.

Not surprising in Brazil.

This is incorrect - the rate of deforestation had declined drastically even before Norway started making payments (2008) and are now actually starting to creep back up (mostly related to the fall of the real).

figure out why in the world he ever told anyone about this in the first place?

What was his motive for even telling the story and discussing the incident to begin with? Just keep quiet and nobody ever knows this took place.

Maybe it was some weird attempt at some added attention and being in the limelight (his cool we were robbed story) even though one would think winning gold in the Olympics would be enough.

Regardless of the exact details of how it all went down, his publicly talking about it was beyond dumb.

A drunk guy pissed in an alley and knocked down a broken sign. Then exaggerated his story when SOMEONE ELSE made it public. Who the fuck cares? Oh, and left his teammates behind to deal with it? Last I checked, they were ALL trying to leave the country. But I guess Lochte should have made sure there were all on the same flight and sitting right next to each other. What a scumbag.

The fact that they were held up by gunpoint and robbed and then had another swimmer extorted in order to even leave the country is overshadowed by Lochte's exaggerated account is exactly what I expect from mental midgets like you. But go ahead and continue spew venom at the anti-Christ Ryan Lochte.

Yes the stupid fuck should have said nothing to begin with and walked away and nobody would have known a thing. Turns out what he told Matt Lauer later was pretty much what really happened according to the 2 swimmers that said nothing to begin with and apparently accepted by the police, as they were set free. Turns out the police lied more than he did, according to USA Today.

But what the hell, turns out basically Feigen was extorted..

Let's hear it for Brazilian justice. As I said, bad enough a drunk athlete made up a tail and embellished it. I'm not defending his/their actions. But if you don't think that the police and possibly the judge lied and that isn't worse, I don't know what to tell you.

Lochte and his pals most likely acted like typical drunk bros do, except, in a foreign country. What were considered authorities in said country overreacted.

Bottom line is, in the end, both parties come out looking like fools. Simple as that.

Oh, you mean his 3rd version of the story? YAY!!! he told the truth 5 days later...He did not just make up a story, he got the fuck out of there and left his 3 teammates hanging while he got out and never said or did anything to help them UNTIL he had to. Lochte was the one who lied and created this mess, Lochte was the one who ran, Lochte was the last one to come clean while safely sitting in America.

I may be wrong, but I have yet to see 1 person in here "defending Brazilian Police", does anyone doubt they are corrupt? No, of course not Its Brazil. Which to any person with half a brain, especially one representing our country in the Olympics, means you don't go and screw around in that foreign country and not expect to have to pay. I don't know why Lochte's actions and Brazil being corrupt are mutually exclusive? Who did not know Brazil was corrupt? Its a 3rd world country with a huge drug problem, massive poverty, and corrupt officials. That is the reason as to why YOU DON'T give any possible chance of a situation getting to that point. If you have ever travelled extensively outside the US and enjoyed a few good times partying, you would understand the $50 they paid was getting off cheap, it's "i'm sorry" money. I have had to pay $25 for jaywalking in Mexico, saw a friend get squeezed for 500 Euro in Prague for pissing in an alley, a buddy paid $80 for knocking over a glass sign in Sasebo, Japan (they actually have a term for it "Gomen" money), and a guy forced to pay $30 while in the Navy for mistakenly breaking off a plastic part of a grill on a stupid Jeepny in the Philippines.

That is their culture and we as visitors have to understand that. Brazil is a nasty ass hell hole, which everyone knew and were repeatedly reminded off on our Olympic team, you would think a 32 year old man would understand that
Seems to me

I'm not exonerating his wrong doing, but his infractions were minuscule and he paid for it. Their country then extorted money from other Team USA swimmers which should be the story here.

How do you not know it will blow up when you're a World famous swimmer at the olympics, in a country overly sensitive about its rep for crime, telling a reporter you got robbed at gunpoint of cash and your wallet while a gun was put to your head?

You mean the two rent a cops that actually committed a crime? I mean, we get that embellishing to your mother should be a crime, but it isn't montana. And unless "douchebaggery" is an offense in Brazil punishable by all the money you have on you, then Brazil broke their own laws again with Feigin. I'm not exonerating his wrong doing, but his infractions were minuscule and he paid for it. Their country then extorted money from other Team USA swimmers which should be the story here.

You have to understand that things are done differently in other countries. In America what these off-duty cops did would get them fired and arrested. In Brazil they most likely get celebrated and a raise. That is why you don't screw around in those countries, and if you do you don't make a situation worse by antagonizing the guy holding the gun by trying to argue and walk off when they tell you to stop. This is his 3rd olympics, and God knows how many competitions overseas, he should know better at this point

for hating Lochte. How do you know he left his teammates there anyway? Weren't their flight plans home already set? And if not, how would anyone know that it would blow up this badly to the extent where you'd be removed from your plane, questioned, held, then only allowed to leave after being extorted (which is illegal and can't be stressed enough).

Where's that $10k being spent anyway? I'll give it a 1% chance that a charity sees that money.

How do you not know it will blow up when you're a World famous swimmer at the olympics, in a country overly sensitive about its rep for crime, telling a reporter you got robbed at gunpoint of cash and your wallet while a gun was put to your head?

The 10K is a joke, I don't defend the fact Brazil is a shithole at all, has nothing to do though with the actions of Lochte a 32 year old man throughout this situation.

Your entire argument relies on Lochte being a 32 year old man. We get it, you think he's stupid (he is). But beyond that, what are you babbling about? Is the larger issue that Lochte is stupid or that their government just stole from American athlete's? And how is the $10k a joke? That's the entire point of how wrong this whole thing was.
I don't need a lecture on how other countries work

I've been to other countries and know there's things I probably shouldn't do in them. But that doesn't make it right (which is what I am arguing). I fail to see how Brazil being Brazil should be tolerated, and that is essentially the backbone of your argument.

We get it, its all the fault of a couple of corrupt off-duty cops in a 3rd world country that made a 32 year old man embellish a story for attention, then bail on his teammates that he got in trouble, while continuing to lie 4 days later...Yup, that's it.

You mean the two rent a cops that actually committed a crime? I mean, we get that embellishing to your mother should be a crime, but it isn't montana. And unless "douchebaggery" is an offense in Brazil punishable by all the money you have on you, then Brazil broke their own laws again with Feigin. If you want to think Lochte is still the biggest criminal in all of this go right ahead, but you'd have to dream up some funny laws to do so.

LOL..Your post is rife with misconceptions.
First off he did not just tell his mother that story, he told a reporter there in Brazil the same story also, he then told it again to the press 2 days later.

Regarding Feigin, shocker! Brazil is a corrupt shitty country

The fact that Brazil sucks and Lochte's actions are not mutually exclusive, stop trying to justify what he did by pointing out Brazil is crooked, everyone knows they are.
