BBI 2016 Contribution Campaign - Week Two

Eric from BBI : Admin : 8/22/2016 12:30 pm
As long time readers of the website already know, BBI is a small "mom and pop" operation that relies on the generous support of its patrons once a year during our annual contribution campaign.

It is revenue raised through the campaign plus ad revenue that keeps this site in operation 365 days a year.

Donations are obviously voluntary. The amount given is at the sole discretion of the giver. Any amount helps!

Thank you to those who have already generously contributed!!!

(Please click on the link for details on how to donate).

Have you ever thought about

charging a monthly fee? Even if it were a dollar a month you'd probably rid the site of some of the trolls who continuously create new names.

It would kill the site.
Amazon Smile

Amazon is encouraging people to use Amazon Smile ... sometimes offering a Smile link after going to Amazon via the BBI link. I have not used it yet because I suspected that it would cancel the BBI Amazon visit. How does the BBI link work or not work with Amazon Smile?

Steve, it's a good question. To be frank, I have no idea. But I can ask.

BBI would have to register itself with the Amazon Smile program.

The upside of Amazon Smile is that if a user registers with BBI (or whoever) and also remembers to use smile.amazon.com instead of www.amazon.com, the site gets a cut of every sale with no clickthru needed.

The downside: The cut is only 1/2 of 1%, much lower than the clickthru rate.
Actually, never mind

I just remembered BBI isn't eligible for Amazon Smile: it's only for charitable organizations.

on the response I received from Amazon, it doesn't sound like you can use both at the same time unless I change the URL's to include smile. But I think that would "force" people to use a program that most are not familiar with.

So long story short, use the program you want, but the benefits won't accrue to both. You have to pick one.

I prefer not to use PAYPAL and sent a contribution using my Visa card.
Please confirm that you receive it.

I ordered a check to be sent to your PO Box via my online bank. They say the check should be there by 8/26.

Thanks!

I send out thank-you e-mails to everyone who has donated electronically through PayPal. I assume you mean you used your Visa through PayPal? If so, and you didn't receive an e-mail from me, please e-mail me at info@bigblueinteractive.com and I will look into it.

It is possible to do both -- I set up an organization at my daughters' school with Amazon Smile, and they continued to use the same clickthru links they already had set up with their Amazon Associates account. Both tied to the same associates account.

But as I said: you're not eligible to use Amazon Smile. It's only for charitable 501(c)(3) organizations.

I checked with my credit card company and the charge went through Pay Pal on Aug 20 and was addressed to "BIG BLUE".
At my age it's seeing Doctors, Big Blue, watching football and handicapping the Stock Market.
