NFT: These FF threads are a bit much

jc in c-ville : 8/22/2016 1:53 pm
First off, I enjoy playing and am usually in 3 or 4 leagues each year. I also, when I have free time, enjoy talking or reading the various threads comparing players, strategy, whatever.

However, when there are threads stating, what should I do, who should I pick, etc. it truly makes me wonder why some of you folks play in the first place.

Now, I have done well in the leagues that I play in which are normally 12,14, 16 and the most satisfaction I have is all the decisions are mine, and mine only. Sure, I will look at the cheat sheets before drafting and read up on Sunday mornings as who to start but this year more than ever, guys are coming on this board asking everyone else to make decisions for them and in most cases, won't even offer up the settings within their leagues, # of teams, etc.

Guys, we all love football and if you're not going to bother watching it while forming opinions and relying on everyone else telling you who to draft then who to play, each and every week- maybe it isn't your thing. Rant over.

Thanks for the concern.
when you have
Rocky369 : 8/22/2016 1:58 pm : link
internet sites, magazine publications, and entire television programming catered to just this, it's not a BBI thing. you said it yourself, you lean on what others think to (help) make your decisions, a little or a lot.
Where did you draw the conclusion
Sonic Youth : 8/22/2016 1:59 pm : link
that people aren't watching football? You're projecting.

Anyway, this board usually does a good job of consolidating the FF thread into one daily thread. There's obviously always going to be a daily thread, which I prefer - not because I give a shit if people think the board is cluttered (who cares about that, seriously?), but because condensing the conversation into one thread leads to more discussion.
I agree

Peterson
Gurley
David Johnson
Le'Veon Bell
Zeke Elliott
I agree. Fantasy football threads are the worst.

But people seem to like them for whatever reason, so who am I to ask others not to enjoy it. Just don't click on them.

Nelson
Cooks
I read an article the other day
giantsfan44ab : 8/22/2016 2:05 pm : link
About how Facebook was creating algorithms to rid their ads of click bait articles because it was becoming a huge problem. I wondered who the fuck would click on an article that said "baby ducks see water for the first time...you WON'T BELIEVE what they do!!". I think I finally found my answer. You are in my prayers.

Goddamn it arc I wanted to post this first
These discussions on a daily basis are very helpful.

It helps to see things that maybe you didn't see before. You can't possibly know everything about everyone and getting others opinions can be very helpful.

I do think they should be NFT's though.

Don't leave me hanging...what did the duckies do?
The only thing worse than those fantasy football threads

If for nothing else it passes time during the absolute worst time in sports. It sure beats talking about the goddamn offensive line everyday.

And I've seen people post it in both. Would sure help to know if we can keep it to one or the other. Fantasy football pertains as much (or as little) to actual football as training camp reports and preseason games so I don't care either way.
I hate FF
AP in Halfmoon : 8/22/2016 2:37 pm : link
And what it's done to football coverage but it's not going anywhere.

I do agree there are too many daily FF threads
UConn4523 : 8/22/2016 2:38 pm : link
there should only be 1 per day. Post your scenario in there and stop cluttering up the board. Your question isn't any more important the someone else's.

But the OP is way off on why the threads suck. There's tons of quality in them, and there's so much going on with so many players that none of us can possibly know everything even after watching every single game, which no one does. There's more quality in these threads than the Will Beatty threads, for example. We just don't need 5 FF threads every day.
So all the baseball threads on a football site are fine
ZogZerg : 8/22/2016 3:09 pm : link
but, not football related threads?
I'll take these over relationship advice, vacation suggestions
Gmen1982 : 8/22/2016 4:31 pm : link
And the death in the family posts. At least this is football.
I will never understand a person who creates a thread

about people creating threads.

You see the thread title - do you have to click into it?? Nope

This.

Also, I agree with UConn in that we should keep it condensed to one daily thread. There's really no need to have 3-4 different threads cluttering the first page.. but nothing is worse than making a new thread to complain about other threads. It's so incredibly easy to just.. not open them.
