I realixe the moves they made have enriched thier minor leagues enormously. I live in an area where I get to see a number of their AAA games and this team is loaded. Their AA team is loaded. Trades will be made and have to be made because their bullpen is now a fucking mess.
How many times do We have to sit and watch Anthony fucking Swarzak flush a lead with a three run homerun. You mean to tell me he's the only option they have in that situation. What about the flame thrower Heller they got in one of the trades. I've seen him warming a few times but they never bring him in. Swarzak has been so up and down mostly down yet Joe keeps running him out there.
This is going to be a huge problem for the Yankees unless the likes of Chapman decides to come back to the Yankees at year's end. I love the trades and the players they got but now the pitching will have to be retooled. Cashman has done a nice job up to this point and like I said watching their minor leagues they are loaded. So I'm hoping some creative trading is done because the future is bright where positional players are concerned but the pitching is shakey at best.
You are not wrong, but you can't have the starting pitching give a tremendous 6 or 7 innings and watch guys like Swarzak and Shreve screw it up in a matter of a few pitches. Either the starters need to go 8 or they better find better BP guys.
Warren blew up in one game - same game as Swarzak. Anybody that blows a FB past Mike Trout on a 3-2 count with bases loaded in the 8th is fine by me.
If the Yankees had even decent starting pitching they could make a run.Getting Severino straightened out would go a long way to resolving the problem. Losing Eovoldi sucked too. He was inconsistent and a tease, but he ate up innings
Agree on all points.

But his continued use of Swarzak in close games is baffling. The guy is dogshit. I know the pen is thin now, but good lord, give someone else a chance. Call up someone, do something, just stop running Swarzak out there to serve up gopher balls.
Agree on all points.
second second
it's as if they are with the middle relief where they were with A-Rod in May...clearly need to make a change, but Yanks are taking their sweet ass time
It really isn't about this year anyway - despite what Joe says. They need to find if Austin can hit MLB pitching. Seems Sanchez is a semi-lock (knock wood). Judge needs to hit the low and away pitch or that is where they'll feed him every at bat.
I think Castro can be taught to shorten his swing. He might be the next 3rd baseman. Looks like he has 20 hr capability. I don't think he is long term 2nd base (duh).

He's struggling mightily since that first game. We'll see how much more of an opportunity he gets to get himself on track.
I think they need to play Austin everyday the same as what they are doing with Judge. Austin needs to adjust to MLB pitching, which becomes a difficult task when he is watching from the bench.
Yes. You don't bring these kids up to sit and watch. Let 'em play.
And is he plays and hits, they could use him in a deal for pitching IF Bird comes back healthy and undiminished.
But his problem has been an astronomical home run rate this season that doesn't jibe with anything he's done in his career. He has given up 3.10 HR/9, whereas his career average is 1.10 HR/9. That elevated rate is unsustainable and an aberration. Maybe it's mechanical, but it could be just some awful luck. There's no need to burn out important arms or start option clocks on young guys in the minors.
Plus, it's not as if the Yankees are truly in contention for the playoffs. Even if the Yankees won, they'd be 4 games out of the second wild card spot, trailing 4 other teams, tied with KCR, and with the 5th worst run differential in the American League.
He'd be a nice piece for backup 1B and 4th OF.
He needs ABs. Probably pressing like hell after what Sanchez and Judge are doing. Cannot be easy following that.
