neither option is great but I would've rather thrown Montero out there tonight than Niese. Hopefully Niese can surprise me and prove me wrong.

Great night last night. A lot of the key guys with good performances. Great to see Rosario break out of the slump, hopefully we get a nice flurry from him to end the year. Smith cemented his top 100 prospect status with his second half and might even be a 2017 contributor.

Conforto should be with the big club yesterday.
I'd

roll with Gsellman over Niese and Montero given the choice. I think Lugo/Gsellman for now represent better options than Montero until he's shown he can be trusted a bit more.

Dan --
Looking at Columbia's Box Score, their CF Zabala went 5 for 5 last night. They have him batting leadoff -- does this kid have any upside ?f

The 'Flies are in Charleston this week to play the RiverDogs. Tonight is a pretty good pitching matchup with our Church going against the Yankees' Morris, a big RH pitcher. We might hitch up the buckboard and ride into town to see a game (tonight is bobble-head election, with fans choosing either a Trump or Hillary Bobble). Look for MSNBC to call the Election for Hillary around 9pm...HA!

is the kind of player who would need to walk more to be interesting. He's speedy but not a huge basestealer and has very moderate power so even in a 4th OF role I find it hard to come up with a path to being interesting beyond walking significantly more. Career .337 slugging %, 3 career homers 43 steals over 226 games. Of course anything is possible (actually hit over .300 a few years ago) just not expecting much.
Vegas is stupid they need to move first chance they get

Agree 100%. Though its looking like post 2018 (2 more seasons) is the soonest that will happen. Ideally sniping Syracuse from the Nationals as the most realistic option.
I thought you said Szapucki

Was scratched and has been replaced by Raul Jacobson for his next start as well.

Raul Jacobson will slide into the Cyclones rotation on Tuesday as Thomas Szapucki continues to rest his stiff back.

Do get a chance to see Phillip Evans play, and if so, what do you think this chances are? One of my sons played HS ball with him and I'm wondering just how good he is.

Thanks!

Evans received the equivalent of a 2nd round bonus his draft year (aka the Mets really liked him). The scouting community thought he was something of a steal where the Mets got him. He put on some bad weight (he's still viewed as too bulky) and has had ongoing back issues. That said he's still only 23 and having a nice season at AA. It's possible he's a "late bloomer". Position might be the issue. He's put on roughly 35 pounds since being drafted and his body is described as "thick" at 5'9
Thanks Dan

He was so much fun to watch playing HS ball. We are a really good california HS baseball team and he was the best player the minute he walked onto the field as a freshman....Hope he does well!

It looks they are going Niese/Gsellman. I doubt ole Jon will be given much rope.
