From his new ESPN magazine interview, some select highlights:
Norman also said he's the "best cornerback on Earth" and asked when New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. would "grow up." |
He told The Magazine that he felt constrained in Carolina, that he was asked to cut down on his trash talk but wouldn't because "I'm not a fake."
He said the team's conservative nature made him expendable.
"They kind of shunned me," he said. "They turned down a lot of stuff for me, interviews, sponsorship deals, stuff I didn't even know about. They wanted it to be about the two main guys, Cam [Newton] and Luke [Kuechly]." |
In Washington, he said he thinks he can "grow."
"...[I]t feels like everybody can say whatever they want," he said. "It's a free-flowing kind of place. It's like going from a dictatorship to freedom." |

I love this - shows that Norman is never going to be the man at fault.
LOL. What a toolbag.
And I'm being serious. People don't realize how he was nearly released due to his struggles in man coverage.

Have heard this before, hope its true.
I know the Giants overpaid for Jenkins but the Skins really shat themselves for what they paid for this creep.
But if he hasn't broken NFL rules, committed any crimes or caused locker-room problems... then he's just a loud mouth.
I'm assuming Jackson is Desean? They're teammates.

When was that?
Probably weekly radio appearances, local tv deals, etc
When he wasn't resigned, Gettleman and Rivera's comments were telling. They didn't think he was a worthy investment:
Gettleman is a huge proponent of building the front 7 and letting the DB's walk, just like he did with Captain Munnerlyn and Mike Mitchell. Norman's decision was probably easier than Munnerlyn's to be honest.

Geeze, I'm dopey today.

I got my popcorn ready. This boy is going to get worked.
Why all of a sudden is he being lauded as one of the best in the game without really doing anything? Why is the spotlight on him? He's not particularly charismatic or charming. Doesn't seem to possess the gift of gab or say anything particularly interesting regarding the game. And in between bites of his lunch I heard absolutely nothing of note - he was boring.
Let's say Odell didn't bash his skull in and they didn't battle like idiots that day. Are we still talking about Josh fuckin Norman?
Was Gettleman still part of the FO then? If so, does he blame the Giants for Carolina rescinding his tag?
Quote:
I don't know if you guys read the article but he also whines about the Giants FO from the year he was drafted saying that they were questioning his character and he basically threw a tantrum about it and still holds a grudge against the org to this day. This guy is such a fucking crybaby.

Yup, it was Gettleman's last year here. He whines about the Panthers as well which I believe the OP quoted. Claiming they "shunned" him, etc.
Panthers aren't Family enough - ( New Window )
In fairness i'm having a hard time getting too worked up about his ranking or play in 2012-2013. Guys "get it" after a few years all the time. It'd be like a hockey analyst giving Anton Stralman shit for his early career.
I'm hopeful Norman will suck in Washington given less talent around him, but he's a better player today than he was early on.
I have a feeling his first game against the Giants and Odell will be like another Chappelle Show installment of "When Keeping it Real Goes Bad"
What he says is designed to get attention and to sell magazines. I'm guessing that half the players in the League read that stuff and wish that they had that gig.
Rivalries and petty feuds between rivals sell tickets too, so I don't expect any owner to complain or tell a player to cool it.
The times he had to play man, his stats were much worse than otherwise. He was so valuable that the Panthers took the tender off the table.
I'd rather have a Norman who thinks he's great because when he shows that he isn't close to being the best, it is going to be a mental issue as well as anything else.
People close to the Panthers organization fully believe he's a product of the system. Others are starting to say the same thing.
With the NFL being super protective of the players anymore, I just can't see them turning The other cheek when a guy comes out and says "they will have to put a bubble around Odell because there is a hit out on him."
Lol hope Roger doesn't let that bounty comment slide
Well if our O-line does not improve, he won't have to work too hard when playing the Giants. Maybe covering a guy for 1.5 seconds because that is how long it will take for their pass rush to get to Eli
I really hope Odell goes all STFU on him on September 25th.
Someone (other players) came up to him & made those comments.
Someone (other players) came up to him & made those comments.
Who? His asshole buddy from the practice squad carrying the bat?
His claims have no merit.
He's a toilet bug.
Personally I think Odell and Eli are gonna toast this guy like an economy sized bag of Stay Puft marshmallows...
You just know what Eli must think of an asdclown like Norman... He spots Norman one on one vs Odell with minimal OTT help, he's gonna work him like a rented mule, as they say down south.
Maybe the kid's growing up.
