Josh Norman is on the cover of the NFL preview issue of ESPN The Magazine, where he of course talked about Beckham. According to Norman, NFL defenders are going to be toeing the line (and possibly crossing it) when going about Beckham this year.
With Norman now in Washington, it means they'll face off twice a season in the primes of their careers, and Norman has zero interest in letting bygones be bygones. "Everybody saw what he was," he says. "People from around the league were coming up to me afterward and saying, 'He does that crap all the time.' He lost so much respect from people for that little tantrum. I've already got a couple people telling me, 'OK, I've got a hit out on him.' It's going to be rough for him this year. And he brought it on himself. |
Norman also said that when he was in Carolina, management was making him play nice and go full-fledged asshole. But naturally, the Redskins have no problem with that.
I can't wait to see him get burned on a weekly basis.

Exactly what I thought reading this assholes comments.
This goes on all the time with every player in the league and with OBJ long before Norman did it. OK. He won that time. I'm not that worried going forward.
This is key. If you were an NFL corner back going against OBJ what would you do? I'd torment the hell out of him to attempt to break his football concentration. Odell has to step up, shut up and just go about his business.
YEP! Exactly. This guy is everything that's wrong with football. Odell was wrong too, I know he was, but talking about players having hits out on Odell is just sad.
Les - I hope you're right, but I'm not as confident about that. I think they (refs) will be quick to flag Beckham, but have zero confidence that they'll be just as quick flagging the D. Had they done their jobs, Norman would've had a couple personal fouls for late hits on the first couple plays of that game. Instead they ate their flags until things got out of hand.

Hopefully he cleans up the nonsense this year.
But when he became a star, he also felt muzzled by the Panthers' conservative front office, which made it clear his brashness wasn't welcome. Norman wonders whether that factored into their eventual divorce. "They kind of shunned me," he says. "They turned down a lot of stuff for me, interviews, sponsorship deals, stuff I didn't even know about. They wanted it to be about the two main guys, Cam [Newton] and Luke [Kuechly]."
Josh's agent overplayed his hand, everyone knows this, and Cam is the complete opposite of restrained. I don't buy any of this.

There's a lot of truth in there. The owner of the panthers got in a little hot water for suggesting to Cam Newton not to "mess up his image" by getting any tattoos.
The panthers run a very conservative ship. They don't even play certain types of music on game days in the stadium.

They play in the NFL's most conservative market. It's necessity.

Yep. I'm not suggesting it's bad or good. Just pointing out that it's indeed likely they were sick of Norman's personality.
All I know is every time the media brings Norman's comments back to beckham he sidesteps everything and says nothing. Someone is an idiot here. Take a wild guess who that is...
wow, that mule kick by Josh Brown.
2. It's hard to take a cheap shot on a receiver these days without getting in trouble.
