Never the smartest thing to look ahead but it appears the opening 5 weeks is the hardest stretch of our schedule. Can we for ONCE set the tone on the opening couple drives in week 1? Getting past Dallas would stay away from panic mode in the opening weeks of the season - I think it would be great for morale to go in there and get a W. Something feels a little different this time around especially with the defense...I say it's a 33-24 opening day win.
This year there have been a lot of changes and it may take a while for the team to settle down. It will be a challenge for the team and especially for McAdoo to stay the course.
Week 1 2012 - Big pass plays allowed vs. Dallas
It continued the rest of the year. They could never get a hold of it.
Week 1 2013 - 6 Turnovers in Dallas
They would go on to turn in over 44 times and in a variety of mind blowing ways. First play of the season was an INT on a screen pass.
Week 1 2014 - Big pass plays allowed vs Detroit
4 plays into the season, the defense is passing off Megatron to air and 60 yards later he's in the end zone. It started that night a few times and never stopped that season.
Week 1 2015 - End of game craziness
From Opening night in Dallas where they lost that game the way they did became a theme of them losing late the whole year.
One time here to open the year, let's stop this cycle and get off on a positive note. Get a win in Dallas and come home the next week with all of us there at the tailgate outside the stadium where all us will be excited about the possibility of starting the season 2-0 and have real optimism for the season.
It sure beats fearing AGAIN that we may be going 0-2 again if we don't win at home that next game and never really gain firm control of the season from the outset and instead, have to fight uphill just to get back to even.
I think it's a bad week 1 matchup actually, especially as the game goes on. Their DL may be depleted but I imagine our OL will still be operating like headless chickens in the season's first game. I foresee a lot of short possessions that will put our D on the field frequently. Their OL, Elliott and Morris should then feast.
it puts us immediately behind in the division and we never seem to get out of that hole
we also seem to get very key injuries in those games
fuck Dallas
give Me opening against Cleveland

Just the team I'd order for an opening game. A team without the defensive front 7 talent to expose our OL. Very average DBs (if that) to match up with our WR. On D I think this DL will be a good match for their OL. We can contain the run enough to make them pass block where our DL is better than their OL. Also, our DBs are better than their receivers.

Do you remember watch a team recently that couldn't rush the passer and what offenses did to that team. Dallas, on paper, has less pass rushing talent than the 2015 Giants team. The Giants OL is man for man a better unit.
Maybe it's blind hope, but I think this is the year the Giants break that streak.

So you would rather NOT go against a depleted front 7 when our OL is not looking good? I am confused how that is a bad matchup? Would certainly rather go against that defense first over Philly or Washington.

In 2009, the Giants started with 5 straight wins. The 2nd game was at the new AT&T Stadium. Giants won 33-31. I don't know the opening day stats though.

0-7 to be exact
1965 - DAL 31, NYG 2
1986 - DAL 31, NYG 28
1995 - DAL 35, NYG 0
2007 - DAL 45, NYG 35
2012 - DAL 24, NYG 17
2013 - DAL 36, NYG 31
2015 - DAL 27, NYG 26

Maybe, but if your expecting Eli to have 3-4 seconds per play all game and our RB's to routinely find huge holes to run through, I think you'll be disappointed.

I didn't say anything like that. Just think it's a good matchup.
It's too bad that the Giants have been too shitty to take advantage of this gift.
Yes. I usually feel the team is "sloppy" for at least the first game.
