With lots of hope we don't see Gsellman tonight
this bullpen would be nasty with Britton, Familia, and Reed.
though who knows if Familia would be Familia or Reed would be on the team if the trade happened.
Thank you all for the warm wishes. Baby Nora and Momma are doing great. God Bless
Bringing back Niese might be the worst decision of Sandys Mets tenure. Collins would probably pitch Niese again tomorrow if he could. Moron.
Maybe it keeps the cost down 😀
Jon Niese officially left the game with left knee pain, per Rubin
Niese left the game with left knee pain, Mets announce. Also say that Niese didn’t feel it during bullpen. It set in during the game.
He was in the game about 3 minutes
We all knew how this Niese start will turn out. SHORT.
Jay Brutal.
poor guy needs to relax and stop striking out.
Bruce's struggles continue. 0-for-2 today, now just 12-for-73 with 4 XBH and 6 RBI with the #Mets, per Michael Baron.

While some of that might be true, Bruce has been absolutely dreadful as a Met. What he's shown hasn't really been indicative of the player he is but I have always said Bruce is a streaky dude. I remember people here were campaigning for Bruce LAST year over Cespedes at the deadline.
I think Bruce got in a slump when he got here and the whole lineup hit the DL simultaneously. He probably tried to overcompensate. Just a guess though.
Run Jose Run!
Its a very strong lineup against lefties. We finally got some players back and Ill give Collins credit for playing the correct splits tonight.
6 runs and Cespedes and Bruce have done squat and Walker with his wife. That's nice.
Bruce couldn't hold Duda's jock strap but while Duda is out, sure. He'd certainly be better than that contact hitter, no power Loney guy.

I understand that he's not the player right now that he normally is. He's obviously slumping. I don't remember too many people lobbying for Bruce over Cespedes last year. I could be wrong but I just don't recall that. However, Bruce was talked about much more because he looked attainable while Cespedes was more pie in the sky type of addition. Nobody thought we were getting Cespedes. Complete shock.
Bruce/Cespedes made more sense last year than just adding Bruce this year to an already crowded OF. It was a desperation move in a dying season that didn't make much sense positionally, especially for next year. And, by God, the absolute last thing we needed was a streaky hitter that strikes out a ton. I would have rather kept Dilson.
Yup.
Tda - 2 homers / 3rbis / 760 OPS
Lucroy - 7 homers / 14 RBIs / 1050 ops
I'm glad tda is playing better, but he hasn't done all that much. He has 2 XBH (both homers).
I swear, Terry and his crack coaching staff bring out the worst in players.
Sorry bout that.

I dont think that's really fair. Conforto was a complete mess all year. We desperately needed left-handed power and we also had just gotten the news about Duda being out for the year. If you really want to blame somebody, I guess blame Conforto because it forced Sandy's hand. And believe me... There 100% were posters here campaigning for Bruce last year (not that there's anything wrong with that). I certainly cited Cespedes as my target long before it happened also(just sayin).
As for the Bruce for Herrera deal? Eh... A year and half of Bruce is certainly worth Herrera on paper. Plus, Herrera has been dealing with shoulder issues all year that bears watching. Im betting Sandy could flip Bruce in the offseason for more than Herrera if he really wanted to actually.

Lucroy has gone on an amazing hot streak (no guarantees he would have done that here). Who's to say he also might have felt like he had to do more in an anemic lineup and gotten in a funlk?? The point is TDA has been good since. Very good. wRC+ 109 which is great for catchers. Lucroy career 112. Again.. He's been "Lucroy-esqe"
Sorry bout that.
Collins is a terrible strategist and in game manager most of the time. Hopefully with so many players back now we can win in spite of him but we dug ourselves in such a deep hole it might be too late.
As for Conforto, you are right and he was bad which forced their hand. But it must be tough to get in a groove while playing for Terry when he shows no confidence in you and jerks you in and out of the lineup. And this was from the start, even when he was doing great earlier in the season. After all, Terry has told everyone that it's not his job to develop players. Which was a great philosophy for a rebuilding team.

I agree with that 100%. Players like Conforto need to work through their slumps. This year really was just a mess though. With so many players out plus Conforto sucking I just dont know... We were still 7-8 games over .500 leading up to the deadline. I kind of feel like we had to do something. I dont have any answers though. And as Im typing this Im watching Cespedes favor his leg again. Ugh.
This is a must win series, or even a sweep is necessary.
Phew
Phew
get him out of here
Flores OPS vs RHP .599
Loney OPS VS LHP .433
There has to be a better FA 1st baseman out there?
Or have Conforto or Jay Bruce play 1B

Flores should have had that AB. You can blame Loney but TC just over managed
agreed.. not sure if I would trust Henderson in such a crucial situation
Getting squeezed. Hometown call right there
DL Niese and let him sit
TC has to alternate Robles and Henderson as the 7th inning man to prevent overuse
It's like he didn't realize they would bring in the lefty.
He is really an awful strategist
Rosters expand in a week and fortunately for Mets they have some guys at AAA that can help.
Goeddel and Robles are both good pitchers who were over/mis-used by our bonehead manager. They will be fine if they get some extended rest
Why can't a woman be more like a man? - Rex Harrison
Come on bats, just one more insurance run
TC has to alternate Robles and Henderson as the 7th inning man to prevent overuse
I'm fine with this.
Hes struggling out there
Big game for the Mets and DeGrom tomorrow vs Cards ace Carlos

Davey Johnson. Bobby Valentine was above average and very intelligent.
Terry Collins says Robert Gsellman would be the logical choice to start Sunday against the Phillies, especially if Jon Niese lands on the disabled list because of his left knee discomfort. - Rubin

Count me as one who is not too saddened by this news. Never have been a Niese fan.
Be careful what you wish for.
