NFT: Bruce Springsteen

johnnyb : 8/24/2016 7:55 am
I saw Bruce last night at Met Life. 3 hours 45 minutes of non stop music, 35 song set list, just an amazing show. And I have seen more than 75. He plays again Thursday night. If anyone is even just a casual fan, grab a couple of tickets (there are plenty out there) and go see this show. I can think of worse ways to spend a summer evening.
I'm going Thursday

at Gillette.

Saw him at the Boston Garden in February, always a great show.
Was also there last night....

Great show! Only been to one other show at the old stadium and this one was a grand slam. Don't listen to his music much, but he is a great performer. He just wouldn't stop, song after song, no delays in between almost 4 hours.

Yes he did! I was grabbing a beer while he was playing this and all the stadium workers were dancing and singing. Great atmosphere. Great people.
I have a free ticket waiting for me

Four hours seems like an awful lot of one artist at one sitting.
Yes, Santa was played

"A great summer song" said Bruce. It was a sign request and he brought the guy up on stage and said "I hope you can sing". And he did- sang the song with Bruce.
I'm watching a video that was taken on a street in Copenhagen.

Springsteen joined a street busker who was playing his songs and together they played for the crowd. Springsteen seems like the kind of guy anyone would like to have as a friend.

a bit off topic

but the Canadian equivalent of bruce springsteen and the e street band (in terms of cultural significance/patriotism), the tragically hip, played what is likely their last concert, in their hometown of Kingston ontaro, as the lead singer gord downie has glioblastoma (terminal brain cancer). they played for 3 + hours and 3 encores and it was viewed by 1/3 of all Canadians, as it was aired for free on CBC (public broadcaster). Great show, with some raw emotion especially towards the end.
Going tomorrow night too

One of the best live performers there is - this will be my 12th Springsteen show. May see about getting tickets for next Tuesday too - thanks for the review, fired up!

Saw a mini-doc about some of them. A girl planned her ticket purchase on the seat's location for a sign to be seen, etc...put a lot of work into the possibility of being brought onstage.
Went to the show last night also,

Brought the kids and grandkids, had a huge grin on my face for hours afterward. Great energy, fantastic show, one of the best performers I have seen. Actually saw this tour the first time he did it back in the 80's

50/50 It's a strange "coincidence" how sometimes songs that are done in soundcheck, then become a sign for that show. That being said,it's almost impossible to stump the E Street Band & I have seen Bruce do songs that they had never done before.

the thing is if you read the set lists I think I saw many of the same sign request songs done at multiple shows. It's possible it's coincidence that people had those same song signs at different shows, but I found it suspicious.

Plus you mention the soundcheck and I wasn't even aware of that, but it helps add suspicion.

I think it's more likely that the band practices songs they think are likely to be requested and then Bruce picks those they know well enough from the many sign choices presented. It's not that they're planted, it's self-selection - fans request songs they think will get picked and Bruce picks ones they know.
As I've said here before, not a big fan of his music....
Crispino : 8/24/2016 2:16 pm : link
but he puts on a great show. Even if you're not a big fan, go if you get the chance.

Forgot they did that back in 2013. I think before that(without looking),the last time was 74-75. With Stevie & Gary, they know every band, every song that was ever recorded So that video shows the ESB "on the fly" Thanks,Milt!
I saw him 10 years ago...
Rafflee : 8/24/2016 7:32 pm : link
I felt like I wanted to send him a personal thank you note for a great show. What a performer!!!
