Josh Brown's now-ex wife claimed that the landlord for a rental apartment in NJ was aware of the DV issues and was trying to blackmail the couple. She claims the Giants had lawyers help with the situation.
sounds like Mara wants to keep Brown...which is good. He's been a very good kicker.
But then says , if he stays it will be a football decision, as if there is a competition now with the new guy. Why would there be a competition now, if the allegations aren't an issue. I'm confused as to why they don't just say, we've brought on a new kicker for game 1.
It's sad in a way how the NY Media beats on it's own team

WR Victor Cruz had another solid day of practice. He caught passes on his first three snaps of live team drills. He also caught a touchdown pass in a red zone drill later in practice. Cruz appears on pace to play against the Jets on Saturday.
OC Mike Sullivan said Victor Cruz "looked great. Had two strong days." Said he's seen a few flashes of 2011 form.
Best news of the day.
I'll admit, I like the reports of the fight too. Never want our guys to end up injured, but the testiness needs to be there. We need to be a physical team, and the OL has a lot to prove in that regard.
Huge for the Gmen if he's close to 2011 VC. Maybe VC was holding back at start of camp to prevent injury and that was what the talk with McAdoo was over; that and dressing for the Bills game to feel part of the team.
If Eli is starting to get the ball to him, means he's running better and more confidently.
Offense needs all the positives it can get right now. An effective Cruz will go a long way to determining how good our offense can be this year. We are so due for a positive story regarding a key injury recovery.

DC Spagnuolo says its neck and neck between Kelvin Sheppard and Jasper Brinkley for MLB job. #Giants
This seems to suggest they will both make the team, unless the staff thinks Goodson is adequate insurance. Brinkley was pretty safe anyway because of guaranteed money. Sheppard would have been an easy cut, but appears to have gone a long way toward solidifying his position.
Thomas is obviously in jeopardy because he missed so much time. With Casillas performing well, I wonder if Robinson and his $1MM+ in dead money might be on the bubble too.

Spags says "I'm not ready to say" rookie BJ Goodson is in the running to start at MLB.
The immediate question with Goodson is whether they can trust him as a backup. They took that gamble last year with Unga, and we all know what happened after Beason went down.
talented and capable than Unga. They also have better depth across the board at LB which would help. Though if they keep 25 D players (9 DL, 7 LBs, 9 DBs):

I don't think he would even have to be a backup. The loser of the Brinkley/Sheppard position fight will be the #2 MLB, I'd think.
Cruz seems to be making strides and hopefully hauls in
a few passes saturday .
I like the fact that there were some scraps going on
they need to get into that mentality .
We have been lucky with injuries so far hope it stays that
way . I wonder how Davis is doing he needs to get healthy
and get some more reps .

Yup and even then, Robinson could be in the middle there too if need be. Plenty of options at MLB without having to force Goodson there until he's ready.
TTH: Sorry, I didn't make my point clearly re. Goodson and the roster.

Agreed - Goodson makes the team even if he's just a redshirt. I meant that if he can be a viable #2, then the loser between Sheppard and Brinkley might be on thin ice. (That's more likely if it's Sheppard; Brinkley has a bunch of guaranteed money.)

Jesus, dude, you would hope that Goodson is considerably better than Unga.

Agree 100%. In my mind, effective Cruz is the difference between an "ok" season and contending for the trophy.
If he is just average(equal to Randell last year) it opens up the passing game for Odell and Sterling. Even will open the running game. Fastbreak offense will cover for a poor line. Eli will slice them up before they can even breath on him.

Cruz would be great but this season does not hinge on him. If you want a player as to which this season hinges on it is Flowers. If Flowers is able to do his job we can scheme around Newhouse and help him out through playcalling, chipping, getting an extra blocker over there etc. If Flowers sucks then we are basically fucked offensively. To many resources are going to be allocated to protecting Eli leaving minimal targets for him to throw to. This isn't even getting into the running game.
He's important but the Giants have 2 Wrs ready to play that are in front of Cruz or at least would be in front of Cruz if needed. Davis and shephard really should be the keys in my view. They are younger and healthy. Cruz is gravy.
Temper your expectations on Cruz. Last two days have been nice but he's got a long way to go. And I don't mean just playing Saturday night and making the cut. Odds are he will make the team. How effective and healthy he is throughout the season is another story entirely.

I don't think there is an issue that Shepard is the #2 WR in terms of playing time, likely productivity, etc. But I think there is a world of difference between Cruz of 2011 as the 3rd of the starting trio versus anyone else on the team. The others are all just another guy - and as I've been preaching repeatedly, I believe Beckham is close to being as special a talent as LT. When you land a special talent like that, you do everything to surround him with other hopefully HOF talent so he can reach the pinnacle of his capabilities. LT would not have had the career he did without Carson and Banks. Beckham isn't going to be the player he can be with just anyone playing the #2and 3 WR. Put two other potential HOF WR with him and now you're talking. I'm not saying that's possible - but should be the goal. I want another #1 draft pick spent on WR to join Shepard. Then maybe we see one of those guys join Beckham in the HOF some day - because Beckham has the talent to bring others with him into the HOF with him. But that only happens if you put the pieces in place. Don't do it and none of us get to ever see what could have been.

Today was definitely the testiest practice of the summer. McAdoo had to separate Flowers and Davon Coleman after goal line play.
Victor Cruz appeared bounce back fine in today's practice. He had a handful of catches including a TD in the corner of the end zone from Eli

Kennard
Brinkley
Casillas
Goodson
Robinson
Sheppard
Thomas/Herzlich/Bars/Ishaq
Going 10 DBs and 6 LBs would make it harder to keep both Sheppard and Brinkley (and Goodson).
